International
Greece - peace
America - peace
Iroquois - peace
Egypt - peace
No wars at all, even between the AIs.

Long Term Goals
Conquer the world.

Mid Range Goals
Make ready for the Spanish Invasion via Egypt.

Short Range Goals
Steam Power -> Electricty -> Replaceable Parts (Infantry/Faster Workers)

Forces in Egypt
1SW of Thebes: 18 Cavalry, 3 Explorers, 6 Riders and 1 Settler.
between Thebes and Elephantine: 2 Cavlary, 1 Explorer and 1 Horse.
We have one Galleon heading to Egypt with 1 Cavalry and 2 Settlers.
We have a second Galleon heading to Egypt with 4 workers aboard.

Our jumping off points in Egypt are W-NW of Heliopolis (aiming for Seville) and 2NW of Memphis (aiming for Toledo). We plan to build a city 3S of Toldeo, in the jungles; that jumping off point is W-SW of Memphis. We should be able to build that city on the first turn of the war.

It will take the current settler in Egypt 2 turns to get into position. The other units can be there next turn.

We should be able to connect Incense to Beijing on the first turn of the war. They are inside Seville's initial 9 tiles. Near Toledo are Furs, but not near enough. We'll need to build a city to get the Furs.

Spain has 8 cities; one on our side and the other seven overseas. Madrid and Murcia already have harbors; we should be able to get one of them intact.

Rereading nerovats' notes in Post #843, and see a mistake of mine.

We need to build a city between Toledo and Seville in order to steal some Spices from Egypt. Having units inside Spain's border when we declare war kills our trade rep.

We have 12 units, in 4 Galleons, on their way to land near Valencia, on the west side of Spain.

So, we have to wait on our settler to get into position to build a city inside Spain. Two turns to get near the border and then a turn to move inside Spain. Next turn we declare war, build our city and attack Toledo and Seville.

Everything is set up and just about ready to go.

Cycle Through the Cities
Change some citizens around in Bapedi, city grows in 3 not 6.
Tatung needs more irrigation around it to grow, only nets 2 spt.
Riverside wealth -> barracks (nets 7 spt; wealth seems like a bad choice).
Work an unimproved plain in Plainsville instead of a mountain, grows in 6 not 9.
In Jaipur II work irrigated grass instead of mined grass, grows in 2 not 3.
South Padre hires two geeks, will hit the size 6 ceiling next turn.
Hire a geek in New Tsingato; it was working a mountain tile and bringing in no food.
Fire clown in New Chengdu, grows in 5 not 19.
Good ole Cow City works a watered grass tile instead of a roaded mountain; grows in 3 not 6.
Likewise, in Almost Ironic, mountaineer becomes a farmer; city grows in 4 not 9.
New Hangchow works a watered grass tile and not the watered plains; grows in 2 not 3.

[IBT]

Huh?

Somehow we lost our supply of Ivory.

What?

Abe has lost his mind.

We lose two Explorers that were protecting our path to Spain (keeping the Egyptians out of our way).
We win two battles with Yankee Ancient Cavalry and take no other losses.

Canton vCavlary -> vCavalry in 7.
Anyang vCavalry -> vCavalry in 8.
Forestville vCavalry -> vCavalry in 9.
North Bridge settler -> wealth.

2 1220 AD

So the Yankees want to fight, eh? Okay, we won't, at least, not right away. First we take out Spain, then we can move up north towards America.

Egypt will sign an MA vs. America if we give them Saltpeter. At first I resist, but once I realize that they cannot build Cavalry, but only Muskets, I agree.

Bad News for America
Spoiler :

Iroquois will sign an MA vs. America for Horses. No way, that means Mounted Warriors and their Golden Age while we try to kill them. Offer Silks instead and that will do.

More Bad News for America
Spoiler :

Greece wants Saltpeter before signing an MA vs. America. We offer Wines and they accept.

Still More Bad News for America
Spoiler :

We do not talk to Spain.

In Egypt, we dispatch five ACs at no loss. And reveal five more, we kill four of them. We don't take any losses, but we do have some wounded units. The last vAC is too far north for us to attack; let Egypt take care of it. That AC has a nice, unprotected Egyptian worker next to it; so we are probably safe.

Got units on Automove, still.

Good News

The city has 10 resisters.

Battle of Seville (6) Spain
Spears behind walls are attacked by Cavalry. Three successful attacks and the city is ours.

More Good News

The Incense is not connected to Beijing because we have Spanish troops on our trade route through Spanish Surprise.
We cleanse that trade route, removing 2 Crusaders, 1 Spear and 1 Warrior, with no losses.
Didn't look close enough; there is no road from Seville to Spanish Surprise. Incense will not be connected for some time.

Near Toledo, a Crusader retreats a vCav, our first not-win so far in this Spanish war (10 of 11, 1 retreat).
It dies to another vCav and we gain two slaves.
We slaughter a Warrior (12 of 13, 1 retreat).

We move our Riders into Toledo to quiet the rowdies.

Our six wounded Cavs that healed last turn stay in place to heal some more.

We unload 12 attackers onto the mountain NE of Murcia.

Good News

We kill 2 Crusaders around Seville (16 of 19, 1 retreat).
We cut down the Crusader outside Valencia, freeing the city from counterattacks (17 of 20, 1 retreat).
We eradiciate a wounded Crusader 2NE of Seville, on an unroaded hill (18 of 21, 1 retreat).

We move 8 fast movers from the Valencia force 1N onto the mountian 2SW of Seville. This force is 3 Cav, 3 Riders and 2 eHorses.
We move 14 fast movers to the forest N-NE of Madrid; 6 Riders and 8 Cavalry.

6 1255 AD

Battle of Madrid (12) Spanish Capital
Three Cavalry from the Valencia force decimate a Crusader and 2 spears (22 of 27, 1 retreat).
The Toledo force has 7 Cavalry, but if Madrid falls we could also capture Barcelona and maybe Murcia this turn.
vRider vs. rSpear, Rider wins (23 of 28, 1 retreat).

Golden News

Two more Spears remain, and we lose a Rider to a Spear (24 of 30, 1 retreat).
Use an rCav and a wounded vCav (3/4) from the Toledo force on the Spears that remain, wounded Cav dies (25 of 32, 1 retreat).
Two eHorses finish off the redlined Spears (27 of 34, 1 retreat).

Good News

Battle of Barcelona (6) Spain
Cav and Rider whack two Spears (29 of 36, 1 retreat).

Good News

We keep the city so that we can access Murcia.

Battle of Murcia (6) 2nd Spanish Captial
Two Spears, one retreat, no losses (31 of 39, 2 retreats).

Good News

The harbors in Murcia and Madrid both survive the change in ownership, so we are not dependent on Egypt for our trade route of Incense and Spices.

We move the remaining 6 Cav/Riders of the Toledo force north, along a jungle road, towards Santiago. They cannot reach it this turn, but will be able to attack next turn.

On our continent, we wake the 4 Elite units 2S of Zaragoza and move them 1N. They will attack next turn.

We now have our rails running north to south.

Smack down Spanish Spear and Archer by Madrid (36 of 48, 3 retreats).

18 Iroquois units walking to America, mostly Maces, with a Pike and a Musket.

Santiago could flip to America.

Cycle through the cities, changing wealth to workers in cities size 6 or less. If a city needs an aqueduct to grow, it builds a worker, otherwise I left it alone. I count 47 workers started this turn. We have enough cash at this moment to rush about 70 workers next turn (36 gold per worker X 70 =2520 gold; we have 2575 gold right now.

Rush the market in Barbarian Outpost for 68 of 2643 gold. It will then build vCavs.
Short rush temples in a few cities that are building vCavs, then switch back to vCavs that will build this IBT.

2514 gold, +271 gpt, Replacement Parts in 2.
Turn 5 of our Golden Age.

Hangchow Boats
Spoiler :

These boats should head for Murcia. It will take them 4 turns to get there. On the last turn they will dock in Murcia and can unload. We have 8 workers, a settler, an eHorse and 2 vCavs in these boats.

China to Egypt
Spoiler :

The transit is faster, but the units cannot move once they land and must navigate through Egypt. Even so, it is better to have Cavalry move through Egypt than workers, which is why our workers are heading to Murcia. Here, it will take 2 or 3 turns to get our Cavalry into position. It will 4 turns or more for the settlers to get inside our borders. CUrrently, we have two groups in transit. The first group has 4 vCav, 2 rExplorers and 2 Settlers. The second group has 8 vCavs.

Iroquois Line
Spoiler :

This is the Iroqouis line of advance into America. One line, due North. It consists of 20 Maces (1e, 10v and 9r), a Pike and a Musket. This line also blocks easy access to Toledo from the east, which is bad, since we can rail to Toledo faster than we can rail to Spanish Surprise.

Egypt
Spoiler :

Just showing where our units are located. The Cavlary down south spying on Iroquois could be replaced with an Explorer.

North Spain
Spoiler :

Three things to be aware of. One, wounded units are spacebarred, but all should be fine next turn. Most, but not all, of the other units are fortified. Two, we have a fortified Spanish Settler in the middle of the jungle. I'm just not sure where to put him. We can move him south and open up the Iroquois border or we can build in place. I think south is better. Since the initial sneak attack by the Americans, they have left us alone. The Iroquois and Egypt have been sending units across their borders, but we have not. And third, we have some railers in place. There is a gang of 4 workers near Purple Pretender. Over the next four turns they could rail to Murcia and finish before the boats from Hangchow arrive. 2NE of Madrid are 4 slaves, they can rail in 2 turns. SE of Toledo are 2 slaves; their railing is just about done. And north of Fur City is the remaining slave, railing along.

South Spain
Spoiler :

Here the Blue lines, like above, are suggested rail lines to get us into Iroquois territory faster.

CommandoBob - just played
nerovats/Optional - UP! (whichever one gets to it first)

Well played. To bad about the Spanish settler somewhere. Cities might flip back as long as they are alive. I would not have gotten the iro's in on the action though, as they were gona be next target.
We need to make sure they can't get horses from somewhere.
Now I'd continue war on Americans, those fools. Kill them , then just move clockwise and kill Egypt, iro's and finally Greece. That way we don't break trieties and play with honor.
Optional can take it as I want to finish my solo game before the HoF update.

I've played my set. Here are the turns:

China, 1275AD.
Rough situation: we control our continent, and are now taking on the other continent. Spain is already gone, bar a galley, and America has just declared war on us, so it's America we're taking on next.

Hit space:
IBT: Our RoP with Cleopatra is expiring. That's fine, then we can attack her next with honour. Troops of ours are still in her territory, will get booted next turn, but that's fine.
1280AD:
Captured:
Miami, 3 spears were defending, we lose 1 cav;
Boston, 3 spears + 1 longbow were defending.
In Miami the harbor as well as the barracks are surviving; I'm immediately upgrading 6 riders.
IBT: Cleopatra boots our troops. She also takes Philidelphia from the Americans.
1290AD:
Replaceable Parts has been researched. Industrialization next, will take 4 turns at 50% science.
IBT: Toledo flips back to the Spanish. No units were in this town.
1290AD:
Take back Toledo.
Captured:
Washington, 1 musket + 3 spears were defending, we lose 1 cav.
IBT: Murcia flips back to the Spanish, and Miami flips back to America. Both towns had no units in it.
1295AD:
Take back Murcia and Miami. Murcia surprised me by sporting 2 spears; that's the first time I've seen a flipped city being gifted 2 defenders.
Captured:
Seattle, 2 spears were defending;
New York, 2 spears were defending;
Chicago, 1 musket + 1 spear were defending;
San Francisco: 2 spears + 1 longbow were defending.
The elite cav that was attacking the longbow spawns a great leader!
I'm creating an army, and am quick to make a mistake with it: I'm putting wounded cavs in it, thinking that putting them in an army will automatically heal them. No, that only works with upgrading, so I've just created a wounded army! Can't use that one the next couple of turns.
1300AD:
Captured:
Atlanta, 2 spears were defending.
I'm founding New Paoting, because this takes Gems in; we now have all 8 luxuries. There are more opportunities to settle towns, but I don't see the point; it's a conquest win we're after, not a domination win, and we're getting closer to the domination limit.
1305AD:
Industrialization has been researched. Medicine next, will take 4 turns at 40& science.
Our palace expands, and is looking nice. There must be a decent architect in this team.
Captured:
Houston, 3 spears were defending.
We have destroyed the solid Americans!
We captured 9 towns from them, while losing only 2 cavs, and generating 1 leader. That's good RNG.
1310AD:
Declare war on Egypt!
We lose a cav while mopping up some stray Egyptian knights in our territory.
Captured:
Philidelphia (yes, it was now Egyptian), 2 pikes + 1 spear were defending;
Alexandria, 1 musket + 1 spear were defending.
IBT: The citizens of Alexandria are dying of jungle disease. Well, in a just captured town that's actually helping!
A Spanish galley is visible near the top of this continent.
1315AD: I'm buying a frigate in Houston, to go chasing that Spanish galley.
Captured:
Heliopolis, 1 pike + 2 spears were defending;
Memphis, 3 spears were defending.
1320AD:
I'm buying a frigate in Miami as well, to help chase the Spanish galley.
1325:
Medicine has been researched. I'm putting it to Scientific Method next, but the next player can decide differently, of course.
Our frigate bombards the Spanish galley, but misses. I prefer to redline before attempting to sink it. That might take a couple of turns longer, but is safer.
Captured:
Pi Ramseses, 1 musket, 1 pike + 1 spear was defending, we lose 2 cavs;
Elephantine, 2 spears were defending;
Thebes, 2 pikes + 2 spears were defending, we lose 1 cav.
That was the last Egyptian town taken. We captured 7 towns from them, at the loss of 4 cavs. No message of their destruction comes in, so there must be an Egyptian galley somewhere.

Here are some pictures, first one of the Spanish galley:
Spoiler :

Then one of the Egyptian galley:
Spoiler :

What I advize is to buy a couple of frigates in our nearby towns, for chasing the galley. I haven't done this yet, to leave the final decision up to the next player.

Our own continent is fully improved. Here's a picture of our core:
Spoiler :

Some final notes:
I haven't played as effectively as possible; only during this turnset I started to realize the situation. I was still researching, but that was not effective; the quickest way to win this is to stop researching and just buy cavs with the money.
When I started playing I didn't realize we were so far ahead of the AI. I started a prebuild of the Theory of Evolution in Tsingtao, to deny it to the AI, but the game won't last that long anymore. I switched Tsingtao to a factory, due in 1 turn. More factories we won't need.
We don't need anymore workers either; I already put some workers back in towns. Our empire is fully improved. I still micromanaged our main production cities, but I didn't bother about the science farms.

We have to be careful not to hit the domination limit. I believe we're at 57% now. We need to keep an eye on that.
I'm not gonna give a full rundown of our military, but I'll just say we've got 70 cavs and 1 cav army, and they will have to take on the Iroquois next.
We've still got 169 workers, and there's not much to do for them anymore. Also the other continent seems to have enough workers. I was thankful for the workers that got shipped over there; they did make things easier in my set.

Here's the save:

that's the first time I've seen a flipped city being gifted 2 defenders.

lurker's comment: It didn't get gifted two defenders- the AI has an incredibly annoying ability to draft and rush units on the interturn. I've seen just-flipped cities with 4 defenders before.

You're right, Choxorn. I was thinking the Spanish couldn't have rushed, because they didn't have a single town anymore, so no money, but they were in Despotism when Murcia flipped to them, so they will have rushed that second spear.

Good progress, will play before the weekend. Will just destory every conquered city, and chase the ships. Will leave Greece to CommanderBob so he can finish the game.

May I finish the game? Got my conquest working after ~4 deinstalls and repatches with different patches.

You could play 5 now as well as I'm up in another ag as well, so will be few days before I play anyway.

I don't mind if Northen Wolf finishes the game. I think he has earned that privilege.

lurker's comment: Remember to not raze Salamanca- the free barracks will be quite helpful. You'll proabably also want to keep a few cities intact to control railroads, and then burn them later.

Good work guys. This really took off when that other continent was breached. WTG!!!

I'll finish today or tomorrow morning, sorry for such long delay.
