NDNESVI: Myths, Legends, and Gods

Dhrosrin/merciary

Dhrosrin, the Keeper of the Grove, The Walking Forest, The Hunter of Man, is the master of the forest. He appears humanoid with the antlers of a deer however upon closer inspection he is made entirely out of plant life. He is cold and often hostile to outsiders yet to those he considers his he is caring and fiercely loyal provided they show him the same loyalty. He is very egotistical and believes that there is nothing superior to him and the forest.

Actions:
Major: Create a massive tree (I'm talking Yggdrasil big) that produces a special fruit. Any living being that consumes the fruit will become plant life. They will still retain their consciousness despite being plants. If the fruit is planted it will grow to become dryads.

Minor: Using humans as a base create dryads (I know its not original but what else are you going to call plant people). They are physically similar to Dhrosrin but of small statue and have gender despite it meaning little to them. For the first hundred years the dryads live near their birth place and serve Dhrosrin. After a hundred years they wander away and search for a safe place. When they find one they root themselves into the ground and become a tree. After another hundred years they begin to produce the same fruit from the first great tree with the same effects.

Minor: Create a large forest around the massive tree.

OOC: I know not the most original stuff but I have plans. If my first minor action is too much let me know I'll comm up with something else.
Edit: I appeared to have semi-Ninja'd Bonefang...

I'll bite.

1. Fernelus
2. Fernelus is a cheerful God of Death, or "Transition", as he prefers to call it. Despite the sometimes dispiriting nature of his job, Fernelus tries to make a mortal's transition into the afterlife as peaceful as possible. As such, he isn't above extending, rewarding, shortening, or taking lives on a whim. Though, usually he believes there is a good reason behind his actions.

Outside his job, Fernelus enjoys partying, the arts, and is willing to try anything once.

Major: Generate life around Mount Hengovar. The region around the mountain should be, of course, large jungles, so full of different species that it would take the lifetimes of a thousand mortals to even begin to make a dent in finding all the varieties.

(Hey, Etallis, you should let your old new friend, Fernelus, stay at your place).

Minor: Grant a handful of mortals across the world immortality and eternal youth (aging caps at 25). Grant these individuals the nifty little power of being able to raise the dead (but not control).

Minor: Take a handful of humans and grant them the hereditary ability of being able to control shadows, including the ability to move as a shadow and sense through shadows.

Alpha awoke in the middle of nowhere. Literally. There was nothing around him, just empty sky. Alpha turned around and around, unable to understand. Then he looked down, and saw in the distance a vast expanse of rock. He sank down to it, wondering how he had gotten here.

When Alpha landed upon the land, he saw nothing in all direction. He appeared to be alone. He did not know his purpose or even how he got here, but he felt the urge to explore. He elected to walk east, for no reason other than it was towards the sun. As he set off, he saw a small plume of smoke in the distance. Aloha wished to investigate and so set off heading towards it.

When he reached the settlement, he found some of the race he instinctively knew were called "humans." He felt a certain need to share knowledge with these primitive beings. He realized his purpose and why he was here, on this barren land. His very reason for being was to share information with mortal beings.

Alpha thought about how to accomplish this, and made a choice to construct a central building from which to distribute learning. Alpha knew this would take an immense amount of energy, and so chose to begin right away, so as to give himself time to recover. His first act was the make the design. He thought long and hard, but finally settled on a relatively simple idea: he would build a multilayered spire, with the bottom being much larger than the top. The inside walls would be lined with books and artifacts.

Accounts on how Alpha actually went about creating the spire vary. Some say he enlisted the aid of humans, some claim he rose it out of the ground through sheer force of will. Yet others assert Alpha created an entirely new race to accomplish his goal. Regardless of how he built it, the Spire is a building of amazing proportions. It is thousands of feet high, reaching far into the sky. The walls were filled with learning and many humans became wiser there.

But Alpha did not yet feel fulfilled. He realized he needed to make the Spire extremely special, and so he made the Book. In the Book is the true name of every object in the world. The true name of an object gave you the power to transform or control over that object, lending the Book immense power. Unfortunately, the humans became greedy. To protect against the threat of the Book being stolen, Alpha created the Purists. The Purists' only job was to protect the book and look after the library.

Alpha looked upon his creations with pleasure, and felt his power drain from him just thinking about what he had done. He chose to take a rest and curate his library. He awaited the coming of the other Gods. He knew they would come, the only question was what would they do when they arrived?

Kross
Kross is seen as a giant well-built man made of ice. It has deep blue eyes but not any other physical markings or obvious organs. When it speaks the voice seems to come out of its entire body.

1. Major - Create the Great Tundra all across the north.
2. Minor - Create the Cold Front - a constant cold front that comes out of the tundra and constantly hits the southern world, causing great cold across the world, but less the further away from the north you go.
3. Minor - Create the Ice Giants by taking northern humans and mutating them to my size and with a love for the freezing cold.

Currently looks like this

I blinked. Everything has changed around me. Suddenly, I was here, in the center of a world. I looked as far as I could but there was nothing to be seen; only possibilities for the future could be sensed.

I looked down at myself; I had a body now, with legs. I decided to step forward. As I took my first step great cold winds came out of my feet and a great frozen land was formed around me. Every step I took froze a large area around me. I was cold itself, I was the creation of ice and frost. Cold winds constantly came out of my body freezing greater and greater lands.

I walked for an hour, constantly moving across the world, freezing vast lands. It was an enjoyable ordeal. I created an enormous cold land that I called the Great Frozen lands.

As I created my great frozen home, filled with cold fronts and freezing winds that I enjoyed, I noticed there are other parts of the world, large parts, much warmer than my Tundra. I thought to myself, how could anyone want to live in such unbearable heat? It was uncomfortable and caused my body to melt into water, but the water was so cold it caused the hotter lands to cool down. I decided everything must be as cool as me, and so I closed my hands and concentrated.

Within moment's great winds begun to blow across my body. They were coming out of my northern Great Frozen Lands, passing through me to gather more cold and then blowing as strong as they could across the borders between my frozen lands and the lands south of it. Everything cooled down considerably, I no longer melted.

I decided these winds should be a constant, and named them – The Cold Front. These would be constant great winds that always blow from my kingdom to the rest of the world, cooling the entire world, causing death and hardship to those who get hurt by an exceptionally severe wind.

The first things I noticed in my strides were the plants and the animals that lived and even survived through my cold lands. I then saw those that survived in the warmer lands, and then I saw those called humans. These humans survived anywhere, using tools to manage to scrape survival even in my cold lands. Some of them exceptionally liked the many fish and big game that lived in my realm, the fish under the frozen sheets of ice that had water underneath, and game that lived in the richer areas further away from the center of the frozen lands.

These humans who enjoyed the cold eventually noticed me walking across my land. They sent little men, they called shamans, to attempt and communicate with me. At first I did not care for the little things, but eventually they begun to attempt and bring me gifts. First they tried to give me their tools, but I had no need for tools. Then they gave me fish, which I fed upon and enjoyed the taste. Game was a taste I particularly liked and so I eventually was convinced to talk.

They said how much they like my rich frozen lands, but that in my striding I caused great frosts that caused great killings of their people. They begged me to somehow stop their dying.

It was hard for me to understand their pain, I could not imagine death, but I decided to help them. I took one of the shamans in my hands, trying very hard not to freeze him. I closed my eyes and blew cold winds into his mouth. The small shaman gained in strength and size, he became as tall as I was.

Then I blew upon them all, the entire tribe became giants. The giants were large and strong. They easily dominated the landscape and survived them cold; the tribe even sent its warriors to the warmer lands and saw many victories again normal small humans. They thanked me and begun to worship me as their greatest god.

This race of giants begun to over populate my tundra and the richness of animals that could survive the cold, slowly was lesser. I knew I would have to do something about it.

ooc: One thing about my god, he is constantly melting. Slower in his lands, faster in warmer lands. By era 3 where we are no longer allowed to play gods he may would have melted completely, or changed into something else, still didn't decide.

Hemat/Thomas

The god of Magic, Travelers, and the People, he appears as what the people need.

Spending:
-1 Major Point on the creation of Magic, a force which permeates the world, and allows those with command of magic to shape the world as they see fit.
-1 Minor point to give the gift of magic to random humans and human derivative species. This gift is hereditary, and of varying strength, though child of two magical users will always be more powerful than the parents.
-1 Minor point to create a race of humans (Interbreed able with base human stock) who can access magic, but only to teleport themselves from one point to another.

Tlrkel/tuxedohamm

Tlrkel is a mad god of fear and terror. He derives joy from watching people run away in panic and in fear. His actions are random and unguided by any reason beyond his own desire to have fun.

To most he appears as nothing more than a shadow in the corner of one's eye, but if looked head on, a sense of terror fills the viewer until they look away. His actual form is that of a thin, winged spider, wiry in appearance.

Major: Create a realm of twisted landscape. Fire (lava) and ice coexisting side-by-side, arches and cliffs that seem impossible to exist naturally. Dangerous and poisonous creatures roam the land. Tlrkel himself dwells within a twisted, shifting labyrinth near the center of the realm.

Minor 1: Create a race of intelligent spiders from ordinary poisonous spiders. They grow to approximately the size of a small house cat.

Minor 2: Create a multitude of small stones that give the possessor the ability to cause fear among any mortal who can see the owner. Scatter them throughout the world.

Asla/mythmonster2

Asla is the goddess of change, and with it, scheduled occasions. Her change is not chaos, like Tlrkel, but slow, methodical change. Agriculture, in particular, is involved with her. Her appearance is that of a beautiful middle-aged woman, with an elaborate dress that changes with the seasons. Details, about her, however, like her race, hair or eye color, and height, always seem to vary.

Major: An entire island, about the size of Madagascar, that slowly moves around the world, completing one circumnavigation every 100 years or so. It has its own constant temperate climate, regardless of where in the world it is at the moment.
Minor 1: At the same time every year, in spring, a rainstorm moves across the entire planet from west to east, never so intense as to cause flooding, but bringing rain nonetheless.
Minor 2: Create 5 stones and spread them around the world. These stones create agricultural prosperity around them in the size of a circle with a radius of 50 miles.

Very interesting, I'll work on a character soon.

Thuleq/momo1000

Thuleq is the God of the Wind. Known as a wrathful god, those who take him as their patron are sure to have vengeance delivered on their foes. Thuleq looks like a man whose lower body is constantly changing, shifting from a horses' body (centaur) to a leopard's to a lion's, and is equipped with a bow and arrow.

Efforts Points:
Major: A massive plain over the heart of a continent. Several major rivers snake through it, though the majority is savannah.
Minor: Turn a group of people into centaurs, with some of them with horse-bodies colored like zebra, and the rest normal horses.
Minor: Turn a small portion of the centaurs into men with lion/tiger/leopard bodies. The lions and tigers will become the chiefs of the centaur tribes, and the leopards the shamans.

EDIT: changed the minor efforts and the description

All good except your major is rather huge. Might wanna get rid of the mountains to make it slightly smaller.

1. Molgawl / lord_joakim

2. Perhaps in the past the spiritual brother of Dhrosrin, Molgawl is much different. He is a hunched, fleshly creature who dwells in solitude in the deep woods of the world; but contrary to Dhrosrin, he is not one of plants or trees, but of the fleshly made. He is the god of love and music and enjoys not the asexual atonality of the flower, but the blooming singing lust of man or maid. However, he is not one of gentle love of niceties; he is one of wicked, endorses jealousy and lost love. It is as if he feeds on his subjects' heartbreaks and weepings. He is closest to man during the pitiful pains of his mating; birthgiving, losing a loved one to death or competition of a better suitor. The entisement of music is the sound of his breath and all of his realm will sound with either sweet music or wicked screaming according to his own feelings.

3.
- Major action: Create the Heartweald, a great expanse of dark woodland. Not only a forest, it will hum a resounding, mystifying melody everywhere; its mood depends on the mood of Molgawl and the mood of the listener; its intensity depends on the proximity to Molgawl. It varies from a gentle breezing tune to horrible screeches; the latter will especially be true if Molgawl is angered.

- Minor action: Let Molgawl gather his followers of man in the woods. Let them pray to him. Molgawl will have the women love him and slay their men during the first generation; he will take them to himself as his herd which he will return to from time to time. The maidens are beautiful amazon hunters; their sons become the wickedest of beatly monstrosities and will hunt with their mothers until having won another woman for them. Let them fight bitterly for love. These subjects will be the Heart Eaters, or in their tongue, Ersyders.

- Minor action: Create the great River of Tears that run from the mountains through the Heartweald into the Eternal Sea. This river is called so because it causes ill luck; especially miscarriage; and to recieve Molgawl's favor and to cause his goodwill towards you, slay your firstborn by drowning it in the river. Otherwise he will send his hungry spirit and devour your child; you will never give birth again, and your body will curse your lovers; and you will be known for the rest of your life as a Molgawldoe, as you are his.

How "detailed" is minor? I think I managed with size, I do not know how many details are allowed, however. Judging from erez and others, this should be fine.

ND, is this OK?

guise don't give them humans magic then we can't play with them aztec style :(

By the way, lj, your minors are fine. A minor can consist of making a new race, so long as you have a template relatively close to the finished product (hence why turning humans into typical fantasy creatures takes little effort). A minor can also make a miraculous or otherwise unusual geographical feature, although said feature will be rather local if it is truly wondrous. More mundane features in geography can be spread out over larger areas.

Looks alright, although it would be nice your you to be at least a little more specific on the magic part, unless you really do want to just give generic raw magic to mortals and see what they can do with it...

That's EXACTLY what I want. ;)

Whatever rules and limitations apply to magic will be their own strength, willpower, and imagination.
