I'm thinking of making a scenario of my own based on the Irish Civil War but its a daunting task. I suppose I could use WWI British Infantry (without helmets) as Free Staters if I painted them green and I guess partisan varnits would work for the Irregulars.

I plan on having 3 sides (Free Staters, Irregulars and Unionists) and so far I've thought up these units:

FREE STATE
Conscripts (basic Riflemen)
Old Army (former British Army, Alpine Troops stats - except normal movement)
Armoured Car (Mech Inf., some available at the start but cannot be built until tech has been researched)
Artillery
Air Corps (Fighters and Bombers with reduced stats, tech must be researched before they can be built)
Michael Collins (special unit)
Richard Mulcahy (special unit)

IRREGULARS
Irregulars (basic Riflemen)
Flying Columns (Partisans)
Propagandists (Diplomats)
Snipers (Partisans with higher attack value)
Rory O'Connor (special unit)
Cathal Brugha (special unit)

UNIONISTS
British Infantry
British Cavalry
Armoured Cars
B-Specials
RIC
RAF

Any ideas or advice?

Most of these units are from the scenarios I mentioned in the other forum, both techumseh's. But there ought to be something for you to build on...

Hey if you need graphics I could help you in your attempt. Though what I make mimics the style of Captain Nemo, if that is what you want.

You said in a thread that you would make units for RNolan, and I've been requesting a unit for a while, an IDF Infantry unit :goodjob: . Could you create one (Winter said he would do it, but he hasn't been responding recently)?
It's one with the uniform of this image (ignore the tank :D ), I'm looking for:

Sure, I'll try my hand at it now :)

thanks :goodjob:

How is this? Anything you want changed, I'll do.

Perfect, I might reverse it vertically, though. :goodjob: I'll make the text isn't reversed...

Could I get you to have the gun by his side or something (I know it was like your unit on the picture :) )...

Sure, I'll do that! :goodjob:

Nolan: any requests...? I'm itching to draw :D

.

Thanks The ANZAC, I do have a couple of units it would be cool if you could do:

An Irregular with a rifle (civilian style, working class clothing from the 20's prefferably with a cap).

A Free State Officer, uniformed with cap (no helmet) with revolver.

A Free State Private with rifle, uniformed with cap (no helmet).

There are a couple of pictures in the photos section of Éire On-Line at http://eire.shamrock.cjb.net/ .

There is also a good front cover of Tim Pat Coogans book The Irish Civil War at Amazon . It shows two Free State soldiers (presumably Privates) firing.

I'll try and find some more (and better) pictures. :)

There are some godd photos at the Michael Collins (the film) website - Michael Collins , historically accurate mostly. The archive includes genuine pictures, including armoured cars. Thanks again. :)

OK I'll try my hand at them; hopefully you won't need them soon :D

ANZAC will you reposition the IDF man's rifle?

Already done. :D

thanks, even better :goodjob:

OK so far, I have a Free Stater Infantry, Free Stater Officer, Armored Car, 2 British WWI infantry, British Cavalry. I only made the free stater units.

I just realized the Irish wear green uniforms :crazyeye: I'll be fixing that. So just checking before I re-color: the Irish wear that Greenish-olive colored uniform correct?

Thanks those look great!

Yeah olive green is about right, it was the only colour really available to chosen since the RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary), the armed police force under the Union had already taken bottle green and for obvious political reasons the Army could hardly go out in khaki! ;)

I think overall the Free State mobilised about 55, 000 men and 3,300 officers (including my Grandfather), but if the war had lasted longer that number might have doubled. There wasn't really any cavalry on either side (the terrain and the nature of the fighting made it useless) but the Free State did use artillery a fair bit.

OK I shall work on converting them to green :( ;)

:D ANZAC, could I persuade you to make "Jewish Immigrants" unit for me within the next few days? I really need it, and I imagine it could be something like a rabbi with a suitcase and another civilian in the unit, also with a suitcase. :goodjob:
