NES PREVIEW: Settling Accounts

Is psychological. The Mongols did it to excellent extent and I'm emulating them as the Huns. The Slavs will be annihlated. Why? BEcause they ressited us in Eastern Dacia. It sends a clear message that resistance is futile and retrubution shall be swift and bloody. It inspires great terror in other eneimies.

About Mongols, ever read about Kozel'sk? Besides, what Mongols did wasn't genocide, it was a reign of terror. That works. In WWII, the equivalent was secret police and terror bombing. Genocide itself is rather inefficient, and always was.

I claim the China!
By the way, whazzup with India? are they revolting from their brittish opressors? China might be willing to help found the Ghandian Republic of India ;)

YEs there is low grade rebellion in India.

Good to see so many people intrested. Stats and rules will be finalised by the weekend, so expect the nes to start in about three or four days.

As for the map, Panda/das/anyone else feel free to tweak it and send me a pm with your version, if I feel its a better map do so. I am going for the map of the world as per Turtledove's Settling Accounts: Return Engagement

I can't find any information about what Spain is supposed to be; I don't think the books mention it. If Spain is under the Second Republic I'd like to take it.

So far in every nes, when you commit genocide people get madder, not scared. Is this based on the American Empire Alternate History by Harry Turtledove?

Spain is under the Nationalist's and Generalissimo Franco. They took power with the help of the British, French and Confederates from the Monarchists under the direction of Germany.

Oh and the books do mention it. Its about 2/3 of the way through in a realpolitik thought sequence of Featherston's in American Empire: The Victorious Oppostion

Reservations updated, still some really notable nations unclaimed.

The pick would have to be
to help you out their dispostion is

France (Allied)
Brazil (Neutral)
Mexico (Allied)
Scandinavia (Central Powers)

Also so you know this nes is based off the Turtledove epic series of a victorious CSA and the wars that plagued the American continent as a result. Having said that to provide an easier modding experience I have merged several smaller states into large ones. For examples look at Scandinavia or South America.

Rules

Here is a quick run down of the stats and the rules that accompny them that this nes will use. In true Sheepy style, these rules SHOULD be easy to understand. Please field any questions now, as these rules will NOT be changed once the nes begins.

Nation name

What this says, this is the offical nation name of your nation. This is the full diplomatic name that your diplomatic corps use in all offical memorandums. Mostly this just lets you know that you are this nation and not the one over there.

Ruler

This is split into two segments. One is your current head of state, in nation's that have a political figure and a head of state this will be shown. The second segment is the player's name, thus your CFC name.

Government

This is the type of government currently running your nation. In the case of a democracy it will also show the current party that holds the juicy postions. If you change the government it may damage your confidence/leadership and it will definently affect your economy.

Economy

This is the status of your economy. It does run off levels. However each level has a number of spending points (SP) available to you. YOu cannot directly influence this stat. Unlike other neses, this stat can drop or rise on its own accord alone. HAving said this, there are a number of ways you can indirectly affect this, good economic/military management usually helps.

The levels are (number of SP):

Bankrupt - 0
Depression - 1
Recession - 2
Failing - 3
Unsteady - 3
Stagnant - 4
Stable - 4
Recovering - 4
Growing - 5
Rich - 6
Booming - 7
Prosperous - 8
Outstanding - 9
Unstoppable - 10

YOU CANNOT GO ABOVE UNSTOPPABLE AND AS A WARNING ITS VERY HARD TO MAINTAIN THIS POSTION

Industrial Production

This is a figure that determines how many of a certain item you can build with a single SP. For example 1 SP at 10 industry will create 10,000 soldiers. However be warned that if you spend a second SP on the same item, industry will not live up to its full expectations. Thus 2 SP at 10 indsutry may get you only 19,000 soldiers.

Food Supplies

This is a percentage number. IF its over 100% your people and army is fed, unless otherwise noted in the updates. If its under 100% you may need to import some food to feed yourself. IT also shows how much of your population you can feed in the following turns off your own back.

I have made this rule to accuratley reflect certain nation's vulnerability to being starved (eg Britian) These nations must make their own deals with other nations to ensure that the food keeps coming in. Otherwise they may find themselves in a pickle of a situation to put it lightly.

To keep matters easy for me 1% of foodstuff in say Argentina will also be 1% in Britian, otherwise it gets too complicated for all of us.

Oil Supplies

Just as Napoleon said 'The Army marches on its stomach' Modern armies float on seas of fuel. Without this precious resource the armies of the world will simply ground to a halt. Thus once again this will be treated like Food Supplies and with the same style of stats.

Army/Navy/Air Force

This is where your military numbers are displayed. Nothing really to report here other than there are two rules that can govern this.

MOBILIZATION: Mobilization will increase the production rate's per SP spent by a further 50% but will also begin to cause some unrest at home if propoganda is not effective.

CONSCRIPTION: Conscription is a major part of the military thinking of the modern army and thus this is a cheap and effective way to boost your soldiers numbers.

Confidence

This is the confidence of the populace of your nation in the way you are governing the nation. Keep this as a guide only. Minorities if oppressed or pushed into a corner will always rebel for example. You cannot order this to be raised. It relies soley on the propoganda of your nation and that means YOUR STORIES. I don't care if you think they are crap, one story a turn is enough to ensure that your populace doesnt start screaming DEATH TO THE GOVERNMENT!

Diplomatic Status

This is another stat split into two. The first is the offical status of your national government and the second is the status that your populace wishes for. Keep in mind that this wont always be the same and most of the time this cannot be helped unless you wish for adverse reactions to your nation. HAve fun!

Leadership

As civlian propaganda help with the confidence levels of your nation, Good results, and military stories will help in your leadership. A nation deserves strong leadership, DO you have what it takes???

PRojects/Research

This is where you research your new weapons. Some will be extremely long (the atom bomb wasnt completed in half a day for example) some will be shorter. Some will also be pre-existing (Freedom Party's genocide of negroes has already started at this time) and some you can make yourself. The sky is the limit. Keep in mind that the length will always be relative to your nation so larger more populous nations will always have better luck here. Also a second number will be included and this represents the number of SP needed to invest into the project to begin it. The research cant be made unless the money is there, Lastly a third number will be the required money to end the project, this represents the ongoing investment required.

SO for example I have a project to make Inflatable Dinghy's for easy river crossings it stands at 2/3/2 - This means it will take 3 sp to begin the research, 2 turns to complete is and another 2 sp to ensure that it can be built.

IF you are researching a new weapon, you will receive a small amount of that weapon as part of the project. If it is a national project like genocide (silver??) you will find that the finnishing investment to be low, maybe even negative giving you a profit in your balance of trade.

Updates

Orders will be due on Friday 12 noon GMT (this is about 10pm Friday night my time) The update will generally be up within 24 hours of this time, unless something seriously wrong has occured. If its late DONT stress out I will have a legit excuse and will offer more time for the following round.

The update will never be posted unless the whole update is ready (this means stats as well)

COmplaints and Questions

The only dumb question is a question not asked, and I promise to be as promt as possible with NPC Diplomacy and General Questions. Complaints I will consider if given to me via PM or a chat program. If you complain on the thread, I will ignore it or in the event of excessive flaming/spamming I WILL REPORT YOU TO A MOD unless someone else doesnt do it first.

Military Units

Army

Light Infantry: Lightly Armed infantry (strong against other infantry and unprotected guns, weak against barrels, fast movement) NB Conscripts are Light Infantry only less well trained. They become proper Light Infantry after two months (two turns)

Heavy Infantry: Heavily Armed Infantry (slow movement, strong against other infantry, vulnerable to armoured assaults)

Anti-Aircraft: Guns designed to protect the army and the civilian centres of population from arieal bombing.

Artillery: Guns used for the suppression of enemy forces, destruction of enemy strongholds and covering fire for advancing forces

Anti-BArrel Guns: Guns designed to punch through the armour of Barrels.

Barrels: Amour, known in our world as tanks.

Half-Tracks: Transport for infantry, increases the rapid deployment of forces ensuring that tactics are more fluid.

Navy

Submersible: Submarines

Destroyer: Small, fast, lightly armoured but with enough firepower to take on all comers.

Cruisers: MEduim sized, meduim armoured used for convoy duties.

Battleships: Large sized, heavy armour, packs a punch, was king of the seas until the carrier.

Mine Sweeper: These escort vessels are glorified tug boats capable of tracking through sea-bourne mine fields and disposal of mines.

Arepolane Carriers: Aircraft Carrier, comes complete with airplanes. As the cost is so high, 2 sps can be used to ensure construction of one.

Air Force

Observers: Allow intellgience on enemy postions to be gathered allowing for commanding GEnerals to have greater access to enemy intentions and thus better command.

Fighters: These planes sole duty is shooting down other planes or straffing ground targets with their machine guns.

Dive Bombers: Capapble of carrying small bombs, these bombers are accurate as all hell and are in affect long range artillery. Unfortuantley they are also slower than fighters.

Carpet Bombers: These are high altitude long range bombers that everyone knows from OTL WW2, enough said?
