NES2 VI - Last Semblance of Order.

From: Portugal
To: Spain

We are most sorry for what has happened in Guinea. However what has happened has happened and we can only try to ensure that nothing similar might ever happen again.

From: Portugal
To: France, Spain, Papal States

That was exactly our worry. Portugal didn't join the alliance yet, because we do not want to antiagonize our French Friends.

OOC: Excellent little update ;). Considering there wasn't a single war you did a very good job, das!

so it shouldn't be to hard to crush the rebelion then... do you know how influencial the turkish elite are anyway?... because i don't want to alienate my entire nation just to make a few reforms

From: Portugal
To: Ottoman Empire

Hello, greetings my friends! We have been wondering.. Do you need that little strip of land at the coast of the Red Sea, bordering the Christian Empire of Abyssinia? You would do us a great favour if you gave us these lands! This would also make trading between our two nations much easier.

What do you think?

They are influential enough for Turkey itself, but elsewhere you could just drown people in blood or something... :p

From the Ottoman Empire
To Portugal

How exactly would this make trade between our two nations easier? And also, why is Portugal interested in it, what could the Ottoman Empire gain from this? (other that "more" trade :p )

From: Portugal
To: Ottoman Empire

We are interested in this strip of land because it would give us direct contact to our Abyssiniadian allies. We have promised to defend them from any possible danger. Obviously you are not one of these dangers.. or are you?
The Ottoman Empire would for one part gain our friendsship. But maybe most importantly the area would most likely develope into an important trade area. Firstly we would increase our trade with Abyssindia. The general increase in trade would obviously lead to more trading with the Ottoman Empire aswell, to the point that our trading with you would out-trade our trading with Abyssindia.
Understood?

From the Ottoman Empire
To Portugal
Very well, The Ottoman Empire then welcomes Portugal as a new trade partner and hopes that trade shall prosper for many years to come. Perhaps further trade negotiations could be worked out at a latter date? (As in im to sleepy :p ) May both our nations prosper in this mutual trade agreement!

ooc another ally i hope :)

aye, nothing...MUST WORK HARDER!!

From: Pope Innocent XIV
To: Portugal

If you do not wish to join the larger alliance that includes me and Spain, very well. As long as our longstanding mutual protection pact is upheld, we are more than pleased.

@das, how many of the groups rebelling in the Ottoman Empire are predominantly Christian?

@ das: I chose Sennar. Look at page 16.

To: Abysinnia
From: Sennar

King Tyr Nul Abadi is not impressed with your actions. If these border raids continue, there could be war in the Horn of Africa.

To: Ottoman Empire
From: Sennar

Your deals with Portugal could pose a potential problem. Abysinnia can now expand throughout Africa with the aid of the Portuguese.

However, King Tyr Nul Abadi wishes to have prosperous relations with the Sultan. A Non-Aggression Agreement for 4 Years as well as a Mutual Trade Agreement would strengthen both our nations.

The Pope warns the tribe of Sennar about attacking Abyssinia, a defender of the Catholic religion and ally of the Holy League...

To: Sennar

You seem to have missunderstood the purpose of this deal. Its purpose is to lead to a rise of trade in the Red Sea and you should understand that this general increase might bring positive effects for your nation, too.

None of the rebellions you could see on the map, apart from them only the Persian rebels are Muslim.

@ das: I chose Sennar. Look at page 16.

Speaking of this, can someone please summarize all the post-deadline joiners and quiters?

Ah well at least I didnt suffer any stat losses.

To: Sennar
From: Abyssinia

How would you feel about a 4 year NAP?

TO: His Royal Majesty, The King of Portugal
FROM: His Royal Highness, King Julien-François I of the French

Seeing the recent conflicts which have striken Portugal, and seeing clearly the need for both of our powers to not only to protect eachother in our colonial ventures, but to also continue to uphold the balance of power within Europe, we therefore propose a Defensive pact with the Kingdom of Portugal, in order to safeguard both of our respective interests. We must stress that this stays a defensive alliance, however, as we do not wish to become embroiled in a wider conflict - but if Portugal is attacked, we will gladly answer the call to protect her and western, proper civilization as a whole.

@das: Approximately what proportion of Abyssinia's population is currently Roman Catholic?

I'm sorry das, I know I said I'd join this but now that I think of it it doesn't really interrest me that much. I'd rather have a real nation than a rebellion.
