So did you heavily defend distant and somewhat rebellious provinces whilst your core domains are under threat; and the enemies naval superiority should give them a good shot at cutting your rather long supply lines?

Why? Its a prefectly reasonable/obvious thing to do for both IC reasons and the way Silver normally plays...

Japan attacked it last year already, (Last Turn) but now it seems that the Mughals (Silver) and the French (Insane Panda) are joining in. With the possible addition of rebellions.

They're actually examples of small groups defeating large groups either on the defensive or the offensive. And there's quite a number of historical lessons coming into play here. If you could be bothered to get on AIM, I'd list them for you.

Well the terrain makes such an attack extremely difficult. There are the Himialayas, north-eastern jungles, the rivers, and bassically harsh terrain features. Hell I'll be suprised if I manage to take anything. My goal was to use small light mobile forces to seize this type of territory....hm.
