Time to brush up on my french... bilingual schools bah, they teach us a second language two hours a week.

And then I feel guilty because it seems that most of the other people here are bilingual.

C'est un sentiment mal.

Oh, and I don't have any accents on my keyboard either, and that complicates things further...

RANDOM: Has anyone else noticed that a huge number of english words starting with 's' start with 'e' in french?

@das- What would be the population centers/appropriate capitals for les Provinces Unie de la Canada/United Provinces of Canada?

Except to lose the frenchness in its name, ala POC(Province of Canada).

No. We will not accept the removal of French as a language. We will, however, allow a bi-lingual state, due to the large Anglophone population, but we must enforce the use of French as an official language (of two) due to the large Francophone population, and due to Canada's intrinsic connection with the Empire.

Well, it's good. Bilingualism is acceptable, though the Ottawa valley still troubles me... I don't see why the PUAF feels the need to keep them. But it can be discussed later.

I have a temporary capital in Winnipeg, but keeping it as a capital would be an unpopular move with the more populous east. Where do you think the capital for our young nation should be placed.

Van der Laaden to French Government
I am aware of the illegality of Egalitisme, but would you tolerate a left-wing democracy in Canada? It is what I've worked for for most of my adult life, and I will not sway on this issue.

Considering you were going to take only western Canada before what the heck are you complaining about Iggy?, also note that the Ottawa valley wasn't included in the 1782 demarcation of Canada either, so count youself lucky you got the western bit of Ontario ;).

Those of you who got PMs from me should really reply because AIM express is not working and I can't talk to you.

The economic center on the east coast would certainly reinforce it's importance as a capital. Other than that I believe you have a higher degree of expertise then me. I shall step down from my position and retire to live in my manor, after the treaty is signed of course. Be proud, for we are the founding fathers of Canada har har har.

From George Sears

We agree to the Treaty of Lyon. *signs*

OOC: Unless you want to call it something else.

Yes, but then the west would be frustrated. I believe we should choose a city in the Ontario Region. Or perhaps we could set up a more decentralized system...

I will call together my supporters, the FCP, SoL, and all other interested parties for a conference at Fort William (OTL Thunder Bay). There, we will discuss the future of independent Canada.

Obviously, the PUNF accepts. Useless Canadian wastelands anyway...

Useless canadian wastelands that kicked your ass ;)

It would be really great if Symphony could answer my diplo and if the HRE would recognize me and either take up my offer or turn it down(the Fort Sinton Conference..)

OCC @Iggy: the city atop lake superior (in the thunder bay region if I read it correctly) perhaps as a central location for a captial - between east and west and with good transport links thanks to Great Lakes...

The sun had already set. I lied to myself that it was over. I was still alive, my loved ones were still dead. It wasn't over. I didn't deserve to walk away. There are no happy endings. I was on horseback, riding my way to the Manor of Senator George Sears. Retired leader of the Sons of Liberty, he switched to politics after the war's end and the signing of the Treaty of Lyon. Me and him go way back, he asked me to come over and visit him as soon as possible. Said it was urgent. The weather was still like crap, it was colder than the devil's heart, raining ice pitchforks as if the heavens were ready to fall. I saddled of my horse, and approached the omnious front gate. Something was wrong, I could feel it. I knocked on the door. Gunshots were my answer.

"David, get help. Bad guys with big guns."

"The door is barred, I cant get in."

"Use the back door. Hurry, my gun doesnt have unlimited ammo."

"Shut up and stay alive Vlad, I'm coming for you."

That was Vladimir Lem, he fought in the war as well. He was Sears right hand man in the war, a gun smuggler, he helped us procure a lot of arms and supplies. We never knew what made him leave Russia and come to this hellhole. He claims it was for profit, and it was true somewhat. He sold to leftists, rightists, hell he we even sold to pacifists but they werent the most regular customers. After the war, he went legit and got into politics as Sears assistant. I made my way to the back door, my six shooters unholstered. The kitchen was a big and was swarming with bandits. I fired off two shoots and dived to the nearest cover. The brains of the two unfortunate men splattered all over the wall. I was lucky, the other goons were spooked, but luck always came with a price tag.

I quickly peeked over and memorized their positions, a set of frying pans hanging above me. I fired several shot at the pans, the bullets ricohetting and killing the bandits. I got up and ran out of the kitchen, shooting several more unsuspecting fools. I stumbled on two more of them, raising both of my guns. I pulled the trigers but they just harmlessly clicked....I was out of ammo. The goons heard me and opened fire. I rolled behind cover, opening the chambers, the spent shell casings hitting the wooden floor. I loved to reload during the battle, the smell of cordite was intoxicating for me. I loaded the last rounds and slammed the chambers, I was live again. Jumping out of cover I shot them both.

"Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present David Falk. SoLs finest, with the biggest bodycount ever. Dearest guests, prepare to die...David I'd love to come and welcome you but I'm busy dodging bullets and hiding under a desk at the moment."

The sounds came from the living room. I rushed there like a maniac, only to find the the room empty, filled with bodies. The Manor has turned into a necropolis, always hungry for more corpses.

"Bang! You are dead, David Falk."

"I would have laughed if I remembered how."

"David, dearest of all my friends. Do not worry, I think we killed them all. The Boss is upstairs taking care of the last batch. Vodka?"

"No, lets pretend I'm on the job."

"Very well."

I climbed the stairs to the second floor, dead bodies everywhere. Looked like they were cut by some kind of blade. Further down I reached George's office. The walls were wrecked, blood and bullet holes were all over them. Outside it was still raining, like all the angels in heaven decided to take a piss at the same time. George was sitting at his desk, his two japanese swords in their sheats. He was an old man, grey hair, an eyepatch and the rest that goes with it. Searching over his documents, he spoke to me.

"David. Good to see you again, back in action. I'm getting too old for this crap."

"Yes, you ought to be in a wheelchair old man. Who were those men and what did you need me for?"

"I understand, you want answers. Those men were after me, they wanted to kill me."

"Thank you Captain Obvious."

"You jest, but you fail to realize the gravity of the situation."

"What did you do?"

"I stuck my nose where it didnt belong, and I found something I shouldnt have."

"What? What was it?"

"A list of names....of THE PATRIOTS!"

"The who?"

"It goes back to the centuries-old cults, corruption and assassinations reaching all the way to royal level. Every key decision is made by a group of twelve men known as the Wisemen's Committee. I have those names and I intend to scratch them off, one by one."

"Right, and I was thinking conspiracy theories have gone out of style."

"I'm serious David, they are a shadow government. Their secret rule influences everything. Freedom, civil rights, opportunities, we need to get these things back from them. This new country that we fought and died for, it is shaped and controlled as the Patriots see fit. The people are shown what they want to believe. Why are you looking at me like that? I'm legally sane you know."

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. Right now, he was the king. I had to do my job. I had bullet with his name on it.
copyofcrimprh1.jpg
I cocked the hammer and raised the revolver, it was pointed at his head, a bullet trembling in its dark nest, ready to blow his head off.

"Damn the Patriots! Why David Why?"

"Simple my friend, it is better to reign in hell then to serve in heaven."

*BLAM*

"I see our old comrade is dead."

"That he is, did you find the papers Vlad?"

"No, he must have hid them somewhere."

"Nevermind, we'll burn the entire house down."

"I'll get the gasoline from the basement."

Minutes later, the entire manor was on fire, a bloody inferno wiping every trace of what happened tonight. The flames couldn't burn away my past. They only made the shadows behind me leap higher. They say, "Evil prevails when good men fail to act." What they ought to say is, "Evil prevails."
