NESLife attempt #3

Oh wow; I've been away for so long. Anyway! I see my Bulgorb line has had a semi-successful, er, successor! The Pond Bulgorb, eh? Hehehe.

Spoiler :
Flakkerbulgorb: Crezth
Evolved from: Hunter Bulgorb
Survival Status: Competing
Genes (16): Digging x2, Water Retention x2, Mass Reproduction x1, Jaws x3, Sticky Tongue x2, Flesh Eating x2, Walking x2, Cartilage x1, Smelling x1
Description: The Flakkerbulgorb, so named for the manner in which it "shoots down" various insects and laps up other small animals, was the first of its kind to have an actual sense and therefore grasp on the world around it. Flakkerbulgorbs relied on their jaws to protect themselves from each other and from some predators, and their sticky tongue to give them the food they needed.

Pappy Bulgorb : Crezth
Evolved from: Flakkerbulgorb
Genes (18) {+3, -2}: Digging x0 (-2), Water Retention x2, Mass Reproduction x1, Jaws x3, Sticky Tongue x3 (+1), Flesh Eating x2, Walking x2, Cartilage x1, Smelling x1, Endoskeleton x1, Communal Behavior x1
Description: The Pappy Bulgorb, so named for the manner in which it seemed to "protect" groups of Flakkerbulgorbs and, to a lesser degree, Dwarf Bulgorbs out in the open, was a slightly larger version of the Flakkerbulgorb that, losing part of its ability to dig, began to take on a more predator-like nature. It used its stronger sticky tongue, backed by cartilage and the beginnings of a skeletal structure, to trap small animals and large insects which would then be attacked by the groups of Pappies and Flakkers which hunted together (the Flakkers often followed Pappies as a means of protection, since Pappies were usually not belligerent towards Flakkers and the Flakkers could oftentimes find a free meal wherever the Pappies went). Ultimately, however, the Pappies lacked the same strength as several larger creatures and were forced to rely on their numbers to fend off opportunist predators - with varying degrees of success.

It's good to be back.

Cool :D

@Nailix, great story!

1. Scuterids (the family to which Bariothorims and Velocirixes belong) don't have genders. They have one gender- however, they still end up with alpha animals which lead the herds.

2. Velocirixes don't and can't eat meat.

3. They don't have spines to be broken, being just large, structured arthropods.

Hmm... about #1, I can imagine them having genders. By the standards of our own planet, they seem too complex to be an asexual species, dont you think?

I wrote a story a few months back of how their replication went, and it got no comment. Two Scuterids mate (I will only describe the anatomy if you request it), and both are impregnated. Hormonal signals are given off by all pregnant species, causing weaker or smaller Scuterids to naturally abort their pregnancies, reabsorbing the foetus. This prevents every animal in a herd from being simultaneously vulnerable due to pregnancy.

@Lord_Iggy, yeah sorry was in a hurry and didn't do my homework on it lol. Well thanks for the comments.

@Daft, thanks for the comment also and next story i make i will try to do a little more work to make sure it makes sense.

It's alright Nailix, you shouldn't be expected to have read every one of my stories and bio-dramas. :p

127 pages to leaf through... he'd be stuck reading for a week! no, but i really should go back and check some of that stuff out too, my eyes just hurt after reading stuff on the computer for to long and so it takes me forever to read most stuff on the comp cuz i'm a slow reader plus i get eye strain from staring at the comp so i'd be stuck reading it for a week, too xP but nailix might not have that problem idk.

Well, if you filter out all the crap, it might possibly be an entertaining read... 50% simply being evolutionary stats and all.

It takes time. Especially with two NESes to run, and some kind of actual life to live outside of NESing.

I think there's room for another NES like this. Why dont you start your own? :)

Well, if I were any good at art... I've had the notion of starting one once or twice, believe me. But I'm not. :p

Indeed, it is (at a minimum) the graphical ability that seperates us from your greatness DP!

You are far too kind :) (but well if you do insist on worshiping me as a God, I guess Im OK with that too :p :o)

Seriously, couldn't a NES like this work without much graphics? Like remember the first few updates for this one, the Blobster was a circle with a mouth :)

Anyways, heres a preview for the latest evolutions including some NPC's. It may not represent the finished product. ETA of the actual update is still unknown!

Submaryte? Interesting. I hope that the Merlyte doesn't go extinct, I have an evolution I'd like to give it... but if it's your will, I'm just bursting with ideas anyway Daft.

Also...

THE MORTYTE LOOKS AMAZING!!!

Personally NO, this NES wouldnt work without pictures.
If I am honest, i don't even remeber the last time I read this nes!

Also, i'm not sure if I could get my head around so many different evolutions and how well they should be doing (An i even have a degree on it!)
