NESLife attempt #3

Is it too late to amend my creature?

@Neverwonagame3, it is not, that is fine!

When did these roles and habitats things appear in the stats? I'm sure they weren't there last time I looked.

I added that for the latest update, which delayed it by one evening. I don't know if it was a waste of time or not. It seemed relevant at the time.

nice evolutions!
@Kol.7, squirrels aren't ravenous flesh-eaters tho :)

I beg to differ.

@Haseri, wow, I stand corrected!

PS: Im sure rodents will conquer the world one day, thats why I worship space hamsters.

So when is next update :p

@erez, some point between now and the end of the universe, except if i suddenly die or am incapacitated. I guarantee this.

I really like the new stat. It helps quickly define what the creature does without having to digest half of the gene stats.

Erez = Terrorist

If they only get agressores its ok for me to not evolve the Stalkers right...
Right?

Snorable stuff
Spoiler :
Otterus Scraper: Charles Li
Evolved from: Lung Scraper
Role: versatile amphibious herbivore
Habitat: warm islands/lakes/rivers/coastlines
Survival Status: Thriving
Genes (18): Skeleton x1, Jaws x1, Plant Eating x4, Swimming x3, Eyes x1, Gills x1, Water Retention x2, Crawling x2, Lungs x2, Brain Power x1.
Description: The ancient Lung Scraper, older and more abundant than the Ol Scraper. Finally evolved into a new creature. Interestingly, although they too walked down the plant path they instead head for the sea. Indeed, some scientists label it as an really primitive form of an otter, signalled by it's slightly larger brain that allows it to think more often and sometimes 'prepare' meals by stockpiling food until they and their family are truly hungry. Proto-Otterus: Charles Li
Evolved from: Otterus Scraper
Role: versatile amphibious herbivore
Habitat: warm islands/lakes/rivers/coastlines
Survival Status: Thriving
Genes (21): Skeleton x1, Jaws x1, Plant Eating x4, Swimming x4, Eyes x1, Gills x1, Water Retention x2, Crawling x2, Lungs x2, Brain Power x1, MassPro x1, Meat Eating/Complex Stomach x1
New Stuff: Swimming x1, Mass Production x1, Meat Eating (or complex stomach) x1.
Description: As the Otterus evoled they seemed to be an new line just as the Stalkers are different from the scrapers. They are much more at home at sea where there speed picked up much faster than before. They also learned to eat miscallanious (spelling?) meat particles of Predatoer and Prey fights of the sea. They are both a sea creature and a land one and begun to imitate the fast and reproduction Finners of the past.

(I think of them like otters. They swim down, pick up a bunch of sea plants and a floating piece of meat. Garnishes the salad with meat. Eat, sleep, then repeat. Reproduction faster all the way!)

nice evolutions!

@c&cciv3, maybe the Stealtupler could lose some of its water retention? x3 seems a little too much for something that is mostly living underwater...

The den´s are meant to be underground not underwater, I think you miss read the creature description Daft.

The Reinizio and Iyirein looked at the Hypernova. The Reinizio immediately swooped down to take a piece. The Iyirein was more careful. The Hypernova looked as if it might "go hypernova" soon. It slowly swam away: it was extremely unpleasant to have spores stick on you.
BOOOM!!!! The Hypernova exploded. The Reinizio was upset it did not get its dinner. It swam away and bit at a Xeeboo. The spores fell into rich soil. None of them would live as long as the Xeeboo, but hopefully, could start the cycle all over again.
Other seeds fell on the ground. The explosion disturbed the water. The herbivores would take a while to come, and would not bother eating the seeds by that time.

Thanks, I hope it proves useful!

Hmm not sure what you mean... could you rephrase that please? Anyway the Proto-Otterus sounds cool :)

I did misread that, my apologies.

EDIT:

@squid1111, I didn't see your posts. Nice story! But, the Iyirein and Reinizio can only eat floating plankton. Small drifting seeds/spores from sponges etc could also count as food tho.

I've seen your edited evo post, thanks.

By the way, posting three posts in a row is not good, the mods will not be happy with you. You should edit your post instead of making another one so soon!

Symbiosis Diplomacy:

Aerial Arthropod, looking for Mutually Profitable Relationship with Flora.

I think it's about time that this NES developed its first flowering plants.

Symbiosis Diplomacy:
If I evolve a flower to your specifications this turn Lord Iggy, can you create a prey animal to my specifications the turn after next?

Bariom:bestshot9
Evolved from: Bariothorim Roamer
Role: hardy land herbivore
Habitat: warm/temperate land/deserts
Survival Status: ?
Genes (32): Crawling x2, Plant Eating x4, Complex Stomach x2, Exoskeleton x2, Communal Behaviour x2, Water Retention x3, Lungs x2, Cold Resistance x1, Eyes x2, Walking x3, Brain Power x2, Live Young x1, Smelling x1, Vibration Sense x1, Hooves x1, Jaws x1, Parenting Instinct x2.
Genes Added: Walking x1, Complex Stomach x1, Brain Power x1, Parenting Instinct x1
Description: The Bariom is the evolution of the Bariothorim Roamer. Externally, it looks very similar to its ancestor however, there are a few changes to its physiology, most notably its stomach system, which is better adapted to eating food that the Bariothorim Roamer would have found much less nutritious, such as food found in the desert but still other less-nutritious plants. Socially, the Bariom has a much more herd-instinct than its predecessor, with family ties that last for years at a time, and a heightened intelligence so that it can remember members of its herd as well as migration routes that bring it to the best pastures and watering holes it can remember. They have also gotten better at moving and seem much faster than the Roamers were, helping them to escape from predators, but, when they can't, whole herds have been known to band together, the strongest members of the herd forming a circle with the weaker, younger, and older members being protected from the predators in the middle.

OOC: Hey Daft, did you get my reply to the PM?

Daft.. would it be possible to break your one evolution only rule if there was no possibly of interaction between those creatures? I've only one or two other ideas, but its a shame they can't be implemented :(

Symbiosis Diplomacy:

I'm actually considering developing a creature to fill a rodentine niche this turn or the next, is that within your 'specifications'?

Symbiosis Diplomacy:
I think a deal could emerge there. If you add at least one gene to that rodent this or next turn that allows it to be domesticated by a species with the relevant gene, then I'll use my evolution turn to create a species to the exact specifications you request this or next turn.

EDIT: If Lord Iggy accepts the deal, then I'm going to amend my evolution this turn either to his specifications (if he wants me to fullfill my side of the deal this turn) or to something that can domesticate his rodent.

Sorry. I meant for all of it to be in one post. I did not know pressing tab causes a post.
:(((
And sorry they can only eat plankton; however the Hypernova would be covered in spores. That was what I meant for them to eat.

EDIT:How do you delete posts?

What sort of symbiosis would this involve? My planned evolution this turn is this one:

Spoiler :
Merlyte: NPC
Evolved from: Hiboryte
Survival Status: Competing
Genes (19): Crawling x2, Digging x2, Eating Dead Things x1, Plant Eating x2, Complex Stomach x1, Exoskeleton x1, Communal Behaviour x2, Claws x2, Water Retention x1, Lungs x1, Cold Resistance x1, Heat Sense x1, Hibernating x1, Swimming x1
Description: The Merlyte is an aquatic version of the Hiboryte with improved plant digestion. It can swim and is often found near lakes, swamps, and rivers. It still breathes air, but can stay underwater for several minutes at a time. Fallen fruit and plant material is gathered up from the surroundings and taken into underground lairs to be eaten at leisure. These are often protected by flooded entranceways which any potential predator would have to swim through.

Evolves to...

Micronyte : Lord_Iggy
Evolved from: Merlyte
Gene added (you can add 3, or 4 with bonus): Eating Dead Things, Mass Reproduction, Insect Eating, Smelling
Gene removed (optional, remove up to 3 or 4 with bonus): None
Description: This versatile little creature can travel through a wide variety of areas in small family groups, grazing or scavenging on any food sources it can find. It is an easy prey item, but discreet enough to avoid the gaze of most predators.

If you could amend one of these to Domesticable (If a predator is willing, it will be defended by this predator and fattened up until eaten later HOWEVER the predator always keeps the tribe alive), then I could do this:

Domesticator Gorgath: Neverwonagame3
Evolved from: Framer Gorgath
Role: versatile land predator
Genes (37): Complex Stomach x3, Flesh Eating x5, Vibration Sense x2, Eyes x2, Brain Power x1, Skeleton x2, Cartilage x1, Jaws x1, Fangs x1, Communal Behaviour x3, Water Retention x2, Lungs x1, Walking x2, Digging x1, Feathers x2, Strength x2, Leaping x1, Smelling x1, Parenting Instinct x1, Pack Hunting x2, Domesticationx1 (domesticates creatures and fattens them up, protecting them but killing a sustainable percentage)
Description: The Framer Gorgath is the new evolution of the Gorgath. This creature has adapted better for pack hunting, where its Communal Behaviour and Pack Hunting have increased slightly. Also its ability to digest more complex foods has increased for better consumption and energy from the food it eats.

Description: Smarter, faster and able to do it all without getting out of breath. This crittur runs, and runs and runs, either after its prey or away from a predator.

Next turn I can then evolve a flower, or anything else for that matter, to your specifications for symbiosis purposes. I can even wait and do so later on in the game.

@squid1111, I think only moderators can delete posts, for whatever reason. Normal users can only edit their own posts, we can't get rid of accidental postings :(

@Neverwonagame3, I'm afraid I have major problems with 'domestication' :(. It seems too unnatural, and I don't think it fits as a gene itself. I think it would be best to add that gene to 'brain power' instead, which would allow more complex behaviours. Then you could say some kind of unusual relationship sometimes exists between the predator and prey...

Basically, I think proper domestication would only be done by beings with human-like intelligence, and it would be an expression of their 'brain power' and 'communal behaviour' etc.

The only other example I know of in nature is some ants which protect and 'farm' some kind of caterpillars, but as I recall that is because the caterpillars produce sugary goo on their skin for the ants to eat.

Anyone else have any opinions on this?

Lord Iggy, how about I evolve something for you this turn or next in exchange for an I.O.U?

Also, Daftpanzer, what Brain Power level would you consider equal to Stone Age homo sapiens?

Also, Daftpanzer, what Brain Power level would you consider equal to Stone Age homo sapiens?
Intrude: Pick one:

Human
Evolved from: Space Hamster/Highland Cow/Penguiskan DNA experiment
Genes (147): Walking x8, Climbing x2, Running x4, Water Retention x8, Cold Resistance x2, Heat Resistance x3, Skeleton x8, Complex Muscles x9, High Metabolism x7, Lungs x7, Live Birth x4, Well-Developed Young x5, Parenting Instinct x5, Milk Glands x5, Gender Specialisation x5, Communal Behaviour x12, Complex Stomach x8, Flesh Eating x5, Plant Eating x1, Complex Hands x4, Brain Power x10, Eyes x9, Vibration Sense x6, Smelling x2, Speech x6, Jaws x2, Claws x1
Description: An interesting, but somewhat self-destructive species.
On second thoughts, i think i went way over the top with that. Im not sure if such a 'human' creature in this NES would have all that many genes.

Heres another attempt:
Maybe... eyes x4, vibration sense x2, smelling x2, lungs x2, skeleton x2, cartilage x1, brain power x6?, vocalisation x4?, communal behaviour x4?, pack hunting x1?, parenting instinct x3, live birth x2?, mass reproduction x1?, walking x3, grasping hands x4, climbing x1, swimming x1... ok so thats 43 if i counted right.
Considering what you just posted, the first is probably more accurate.
