NESLife attempt #3

Well people cant really dictate the NPC's, I may not use the ideas or I might change them into something that players wont like! Anyway I'll see how it goes. If its unpopular im willing to scrap it, same with the extra genes and such.

About complex things evolving slower, I personally don't see much of an issue with that at the moment, but im willing to make changes if people want. Perhaps after the number of genes in the stats gets to a certain level, then fewer can be added or removed?

Also any suggestions about changing the award system would be welcomed. I guess it may be too random at the moment.

I like the look of the new evolutions, thanks for posting them :)

@Squid1111, I realise I overlooked your post from last time. Sorry about that, but it could help if you posted something like the template on the first page.

Leafy Zeeboo: Fulton
Evolved From: Interactive Zeeboo
Genes Added (max 3): Photosynthesis x1, Stems x1, Leaves x1
Genes Removed (max 3): None
Description (Optional): The Zeeboo had focused in recent eras on evolutions that were not directly related to survival. Though they were useful, and would provide a springboard for future growth evolution, they taxed the Zeeboo and made it a very complicated plant.

Most pressing was the need for more energy to fuel the new evolutions. Several eras of growth and efficiency development would be needed. Copying the now more successful plants around it, the Zeeboo grew a taller and stronger trunk to compete. Though the trunk itself excellent performed its job at photosynthesis, leaves also developed to give more area for photosynthesis to occur.

Spoiler :
Hearty Moss: flamingzaroc121
Evolved from: Fire Moss
Genes (20): Photosynthesis x6, Hibernation x1, Cold Resistance x1, Carpeting x1, Water Retention x4, Airborne Spores x2, Mass Reproduction x2, Regeneration x1, Poison x2
Description: The Hearty Moss evolved because of the need for protection. Poison and better resistance to cold allow it to grow and spread more and more. Not only is it poisonous to eat, but the poison can be leaked onto surrounding plants in order to kill them.

Buggy Moss : flamingzaroc121
Evolved from: Hearty Moss
Genes (20): Photosynthesis x6, Hibernation x1, Cold Resistance x1, Carpeting x1, Water Retention x4, Airborne Spores x2, Mass Reproduction x2, Regeneration x1, Poison x2, Web Making x2, Simple Digestive System x2
Description: The Mosses were getting hungry, and the easiest thing for them to catch were the insect. The webs that the Buggy moss created could trap the insect and then bring them down to the "mouth". But when a couple of Buggy Mosses got near each other they could work together to form a larger more complex web from which all could feast. At the end of the digestive system, the waste became direct fertilizers for itself. With no actual teeth, the Buggys had to use their digestive juices to break down the simple body structures of the insects.

My Attempt to do an evolution chart for the did's and tupler's branches.

Note: I know it's not great but it's something! Also doing this a pain using GIMP!

Yeah! Suggestions,

Carpeting Fanels wih atting strenght
Tree eating desesce (Duh! Water reten, mass, and Parisite!)

The Attack Fanel and the Sprwaling Inter Breed....

Sprawing Fanel
Evolved from: Sprawling Tranel
Genes (28): Photosynthesis x7, Water Retention x3, Stem x2, Leaves x2, Cold Resistance x1, Carpeting x1, Roots x2, Large Size x2, Fruit x3, Fast Growth x1, Hibernating Seeds x1, Bulbous Roots x1, Smart Seeds x1, Buttress Roots x1 Meateatingx1 Traping Branchesx2 (Or grasing to retrive the catch)
New: Meatingx1 Trapping branchesx2
Description: Well, It Has smart seeds, and searches for weak annimals that ware disgracing the fruit by eating it and. Then It would ambush the wekended one and suck the nutriants, and throw it into rival Plant Goves to attract meateaters and to send Planteaters escaping this way

BTW I am tired of branching, So I will stay wih the Fanels, Finners, and Insects!

Not only is there a lot of competition, they're highly inefficient (there's a reason there's only a few in our world, and those mostly grow in exceptionally poor soils). Furthermore, Charles' idea, if I understand it correctly, seems really silly. There's a reason plants make gigantic, ripe, juicy, brightly colored sugar deposits: it screams to animals "EAT ME!" Fruit is there specifically so animals eat it, and spread the seeds through the other end of the digestive tract. Eating animals which eat fruit seems plain old silly.

That was kind of my implication, though I didn't think of the fruits bit (couldn't be bothered to read the full genes list).

Maybe the fruits could have genes taken away, and be replaced with toxic bulbs with no nutritional value. Nasty little trap. But my first point still stands.

Seriously, if you want something that eats things, evolve an animal.

It's largely impossible anyway for plants to "grab" something, like independently move a branch akin to an animalian muscle, without a rudimentary muscular and electrochemical nervous system. The Venus fly trap uses a much more rudimentary system, and it's only a small plant performing a basic action.

Which plants do not have.

@c&cciv3, that chart is great! Thanks for taking the trouble! I forgot how many other species branched off from the Terradid MrkII and Quadrupler.

@Charles Li, there is a contradiction when you want to eat animals but want them to spread your seeds too. Unless you want to remove the fruit, I'll assume it stops its carnivore mode when it is the season to produce fruit.

And can you change the name from 'Sprawing' Fanel? One letter different from the last species is going to confuse me. I'm already confusing myself with the X-uplers and their names are relatively different!

I wont stop anyone making carnivorous plants, but you should note that they havent been the most succesful in this game. As North King pointed out, most of the carnivorous plants in the real world are oddballs, mostly evolved out of desperation because of poor soils and etc.

IE the benefits have to balance against the trouble of growing all the extra complex parts.

Perhaps someone should evolve an animal going the other way, burrowing into the ground, symbiotically photosynthesizing with algae, and catching unsuspecting victims as they walk by.

Oppsie! I will assassssssinate myself! I like the Bulbs... But I will take advantage of the Swamps.... Lets seee, Land Finners, doing well, sea finners.... chasing Fishes(not finneres) Fanels.... burnt up! ambulance! Ambulance~!

EDIT(I waas ust noting the growing climate.)

I have some Ideas, Swamp Scrapers, Grabbing Fanels, Chaser Finner....

Shock Finner: Charles Li
Evolved from Double Finner
Genes (26): Skeleton x2, Jaws x1, Plankton eating x2, Plant Eating x5, Plankton Eating x1, Swimming x5, Eyes x2, Gills x3, Mass Reproduction x2, Cold Resistance x1, Flesh Eating x1, Fangs x1
Description: The Double Finner doublecrossed The finner family. With a rise in Meateating, It became the fastest Meateater of the age. Born as a plankton eater and hiding in Seaforests, they start feeding on plants within weeks, and as an adult, hunt all over the world.

is

Pack Finner: Charles
Evolved from: Shock Finner
Genes (26): Skeleton x2, Jaws x2, Plankton eating x2, Plant Eating x5, Plankton Eating x1, Swimming x5, Eyes x2, Gills x3, Mass Reproduction x2, Cold Resistance x1, Flesh Eating x2, Fangs x1 Packx1
New Genes(3):Packhunting, Meateating and Jaws.
Discription: Also Known and Spikii Finnus Bommus Shockus Sharkus, or as Shark Finner, Is commony known as Pack Finner. These Finners, although they do not stay in a group, begun to take advantae of Population Booms whenever and wherever Plants flourish. Taking on the Slower blooms of other species and sceriously cutting back. Although they can take down a Finner with their Stronger Jaws, they take advantage of them and follow them to rich plant Hot spots.... and also rich hunting grounds... they are the true Pack Finner

A question - so we can evolve out of those insects just like we could out of plankton in the past? And if yes, is it only exoskeleton insects or more things like worms etc...?

Cool idea :)

On a related note, I remember a creature from one of those hypothetical-alien-life-documentaries, a huge creature which burried itself in the ground and absorbed nutrients into its skin, then grass-like plants would grow on it, and it would absorb the sugars from them.

Hmm i have no special rules for that. Currently, any new creature still has only 3 genes to start with. For land, one of those has to be 'water retention' so you'd only have 1 gene for eating and 1 other, probably some kind of mobility.

The unmentioned 'insects' are both wormy things and tiny legged things. Some would evolve straight out of the sea (insects are in the sea too but they will count as part of 'plankton') while others will be tiny relatives of early land creatures.

The Groveback? While cool, I doubt it's realistic.

Find a friend with a better connection and demand to see them. We seek 100% assimilation. :)
