Playing Russia on Emperor. Elizabeth near me with little room to expand. I forward settle her. Then she takes God of the Expanse! I prepare for war, planning on taking her religion but I beat her up too early so she founded after like 15 turns of me waiting with her capital at 0 HP. XD

Just stumbled into GA (Golden Age) mechanic: when you are in a GA, then in the end of it, even if acquire GAP enough for next GA by several turns before, you still get 1 turn without GA (I mean not getting production, culture and all other staff associated with GA). You get notification about end and start GA in the same turn, but you lose all the benefits (and sometime it means that you don't get WW, WC project.
Can we change the mechanic that if you have enough GAP to start another GA, that you don't lose the benefits of GA at the end of one and start of next one
So I just noticed that if I have a multiple turn excess of GAP (where you see "-X turns for GA" in the tooltip) there is no one turn delay for the actual GA. Did you gain extra GAP on that same turn through instant yields?

Call an ambulance but not for me.
Playing Red eyed kill every one Japan Authority, Fealty, Imperialism and autocracy and had 11 GGs amassed in a border city to blob them once i get lebensraum

Does having a diplomat in a civ's capital no longer give a tourism bonus? I can't see any increase in the tourism modifier tooltip.

No delay, it starts immediately in the same turn, but if you look and analyze, in that same turn you don't get production, culture and all other benefits of GA

I know this wasn't intentional but splash damage working outside of range + against units around cities from the previous patch was fun. Made chu-ko-nus much more effective on offense and made camel archers more valuable because they only have an attack range of 1 which usually amounts to just 5 extra damage at most.

Yes splash dmg is very niche compared to what it competes with and you mostly need +1 range promo for it to be practical.
Can work with camel archers, or ko-chu if you want to go range instead of logistics, korea/hwatchas can work or a heavy exp civ like sweden or zulus.

Playing Inca on Emperor. Advice on whether to go Tradition or Progress? Lots of science around me.

If you think you can forward settle Morocco before getting boxes in with that pyramids play, probably progress, mainly because there aren't a lot of fresh water city spots. But otherwise, Tradition can help you deal with a lower city count that the constrained land might give you, if your not looking to take a fight early.

That's a pretty good capital location but there're not many good secundary cities placement at a first glance. If Animal Husbandry doesn't reveal any outstanding cluster of bonus resources I'd limit myself to the 3 spots marked by red circles, that's enough to cover your monopoly and tradition would be my pick (lapis GAPs help nicely, plus you really only care about your capital). Settle the green spot, or the NW grassland tile, only if there're enough pasture resources to have it somehow productive and if Morocco is slow at expanding in your direction (do not piss him forward settling if you don't plan to eliminate him, else your TRs are prone to being pillaged). Exact coastal placement might have to wait for fish/deer reveal, quarries/terraces and some workers to make those spots worth a damn; I'd limit myself to just the pyramid settler for a bit, grabbing the geyser and buying the hills tiles, might even aim at Petra on that second city to feed the capital.

Yeah I ended up going Progress and forward settling Morocco. He didn't seem too mad. This is a weird Continents map where the two continents weren't separated by ocean though.

Did you fight Morocco? Progress is a good tree to develop and then declare war on Early Medieval, specially if you manage to get Orders / Terracotta

Nah I accidentally clicked on my leader portrait and crashed. XD Btw what are the disadvantages to having more cities? I know there's a tech, social policy and tourism penalty. And happiness becomes more of a problem of course. Anything else?

It depends on the map, but there is also often a diplomatic cost (AIs with your cities next to theirs tend to be a lot more agressive, especially if your military is weak). Plus, having a new city often means diverting production/gold into it so that it becomes relevant quickly enough (and doesn't simply decrease your cultural and scientific efficiency), and units to defend it. Sometimes, you don't have the means to divert a part of your economy for such things, or the benefit just isn't worth it in the context of the victory condition you focus on.

In the end, the question is less "can I put more cities ?", and more "can I create more cities useful to my gameplan without hurting the rest of my empire too much ?"

I would say that the real question is how much it would be for a new city to be benefitial at all (or if it will ever be benefitial)

For more experienced players perhaps, but the game makes it pretty easy to see the yields a city provides (how beneficial it is), while the penalties to how much a given new city increases the yields needed to research a tech or policy is obscured at best.

For those of you making the changes to the communitas map generator, any interest in making a feature for it to be pangea compatible? Love the map but sometimes waiting on continental travel for domi games is a little too slow for me and i love communitas so much i was really hoping for a pangea alternative.

I asked about that sometime ago.
