New civ : Dagda's Tears

i wonder how the AI handles the tears. have you played any games against the tears yet?
and what happens if there are more than one tears civ?

I'm earlier than that on the planning.
I just finished the first draft of the metal line units/promos.
 
Now I'm thinking of renaming everything from Tear to Spit :)
Instead of changing the art and finally closer to the dark background of FfH rather than romantic Tears closer to Ciderella world.

I also synchronized the first post to the current modmod units/promos.
 
But spit seems so much less awesome :P

To tell the truth it is actually ready to be released. The only thing which stops me is the modular python thing because I had to use python heavily to get the special mecanics to works and I'm still wondering how to deal with it, especially that I think it can't actually be done completely with the modular thing as I change existing code as well as adding new one.

You may actually be able to help me :)
How did you make an installer for FF+ that uses FF installation to create its how directory ? If I could do so, it would save me for now, until I can get the whole thing integrated either in FF+ or FF :D

You DO need to add a tag above the first text for it to work, can't remember the exact text.... Start a new file using the wizard and it will give it to you.

I'd like to merge it in actually, I just want to play them first. :lol:
 
Beware bro, Valkrionn makes Dadga's Tears look like Mary Poppins. He'll give you a shot of sugar to make the medicine go down. Next thing you know he has absorbed Dagda into his person...Valkrionn's Tears is more likely :)

Sure, you should just wait for a stable version as I expect several one will follow quickly (style the late game to do and balance, and also comments for you guys)

Yeah, I won't commit larceny until it's finished. :lol: Biding my time on the Ngomele as well... Although I'd rather have Opera port that one over. ;)

Game crashes just as the game is about to start. Loading <seems> to finish but the it goes fatal on me, as any civ of the Tear version. Is it possible that a map script could be the problem? (tried Erebus and Perfectworld).

Had installed .51 & patch b, then ran Tears and patch. If you cant think of anything right away Ill try turning off the game option things.....

So you mean that you start civ with the mod activated but once you start a new game it crashes ?

I'll try the Erebus map (haven't yet) to check whether I can reproduce.

Does anyone meet the same problem or could make it launched without problem ?

EDIT : I just launched a game with Erebus mapscrpt with no problem. I'll do a modmodmod full reinstall to check whether i could have corrected something I hadn't reported in the release.
But in the meantime, could you tell me at which stage of the game start does it crash ?

EDIT2 : I did reinstall from a new FF 0.51.b install, and it works fine. Does anyone else have the same problem ?
 
I believe I isolated it. Flavour start option. Worked fine without, try it yourself =)

EDIT: There seems to be more to it. Research continues.

Now I will reward myself with playing. Actually, if anyone else wants to check further things, I might aswell mention working ones for now.
No Tech Brokering, Lock Modified Assets, New Random Seed on Reload, No Vassal States, Living World, No World Spells.

Keep up the good work, there can never be too many options of doom for a world.

UPDATE: Smoke seems to block the forest munching and cause tears to be held for a lot longer than otherwise. Accidently had myself 3 get stuck in a smoke forest and they kept producing Digesting Tears for some 80 turns.

I'll check all your point as soon as possible and post patch es f I find them (the flavor start is a good candidate but the other two are strange).
 
Hmm, so far it's decent. Rather wonky to try and expand with the current system, had a few bad city spawns. Also, just had a rooted tearbit raided by goblins, now I cant root there again and I want the corn to become a funky tear =(
Whats really missing is information. More civilopedia stuff would aid a lot in learning. My first go had me zerged by 4 civs and I was utterly obliterated. This time around however, I have had a great desert filled with barbarians seperate me from all others, and now I have a huge Blobdom.
Another thing, when everything goes all bareland, things become problematic as not only does the affected city have reduced production, but it wont be able to supply Organized Tears to terraform for other cities with full effect either due to slowed movement.

Now I are off for some unhealthy snackbonanza o/
 
May you post some screenshots of how you are faring ? :)

What was your best absorbtion rate ? :p
