New civ : Dagda's Tears

I restarted two more times, both on your recommended "Creation" mapscript.

Still nothing. I have the Dagda's Tear unit and nothing else. No cities are founded, I can't build or summon anything. All I can do is wander around eating features.

I hit a bug once where I was on a mana node at the end of the first turn, so my city wasn't founded. Are you by some chance always ending your first turn on an invalid city location each time? Or maybe eating a feature on the first turn? Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is to try a different mapscript. Pangaea, Fantasy Realm, and Continents have all worked for me.
 
My last testing was on 0.1.8, but in my testing Dagda's Tear could not eat features. I had it fortified for like 10 turns on a Jungle, but nothing happened. Other times, as I moved over the map, I never got the Held and "Digesting Feature"....

Bug? Or is it just the random number generator not working? Or intent? If it's intent, I don't like it, it makes Dagda's Tear useless except for defense.

6 times I've tried now, and reinstalled the mod twice. No city is ever founded.

I tried worldbuildering myself a settler and making a city. I met the calabim who didn't declare war on me. 25 turns later, I make an organised tearling, and it gets eaten by lizardmen while trying to do something.

It seems like python is just completely non functional. Does this mod require modular python ?

The first city ios built at the end of the first turn. if nothing happen you have a problem wth python.
Actually I think you should NOT have modular python install in your main FF folder else it may corrupt the python file copying as my modification do not include the modular python...

Or I'll include Modular python by default, or make 2 installer (with and without)

For Dagda's Tear hero unit, the absorbtion is not automatic, unlike the rest of the Tears. The only way to absorb is by pressing the according action button, which can be done only once per feature type. After that the hero gains a promo which improves it and cannot absorb&analyse this kind of feature anymore.

I'll try to reinstall it myself to see whether I missed a part where building the latest patch.

EDIT : I confirm that with patch 0.1.9 it works fine when installing from scratch if Modular python is not installed in the main FF.
I'll try to build a package with modular python included for you.

Just wanted to mention this. The permanant jungle around mt kalshekk is not a bug, but an intended feature, although one I dislike. It has something in it's xml or possibly python, that forces there to always be a jungle there, and replaces it as soon as you cut it down.

The bug is not the permanent jungle itself, but rather in my mod where then you can indefinitly absorb jungle in that tile (FF is bug free :p)
I'll find a way around it eventually.
 
Just edit mount kalshekk to not have permanant jungle.

I think my problem was definitely related to modular python, in any case. when I trie removing the marker file, I got python errors on startup, although when I tried uninstalling it,I got ctds on startup instead, will give your new version a try.
 
still not working with your latest release. I just get a big pile of python errors on startup, all about modular loading. Your patch clearly doesn't uninstall it properly like it says it does.

I deleted the tears folder. Installed the base exe, then installed the new patch.
 
I think I'll just delete and entirely reinstall FF anyway. It's only the patch B installation which I never do anything with, since I play games with the latest internal revision, which have two concurrent installs of ;)
 
No, even with a completely fresh install in this order:

Deleted both mod folders
installed FF 0.51
installed FF Patch B
installed FF051b_Tears.exe
installed FF051b_Tears.0.1.10.exe

It's still not working. I'm really sure the problem is not on my end. I don't see how it could possibly be. I'm still getting a huge cascade of python errors on starting the game. There's nothing related to modular loading left, in either folder.
 
After another reinstall, and this time using the previous patch (0.1.9) the game successfully gets to the main menu. But CTDs when I try to start a game on the creation mapscript.

I managed to successfully start a working game through the "Play now" option on the erebus mapscript, but starting a custom game keeps making me CTD
 
And after lowering the mapsize to standard, disabling permanant alliances, blessings of amathaeon, and all unique features, it finally works

One of the above 4 seems to cause a ctd

The eversoul promotion kind of implies it'd be immortal, but it seems not.

Is it ever going to get much stronger, other than from eating jungle and getting heroic defense ?
 
Ok, confirmed. Starting a game with either Blessings of Amathaeon or All Unique Features enabled, causes a ctd on initialisation .I have to disable both of them to be able to play.

At least you can play now :)
I'm working on the startup problems which I do not really understand right now. I'll add the two options to my list of problematic ones.

Actually not "immortal", but it will replace another unit if it exists, meaning :
+ you will loose your strongest unit (te be replaced by dagda'tear)
+ you need another unit ! (else you die)

Yes, it gets much stronger when absorbing every kind of feature.
Try forest especially I think to remember (+2 def)
You can check the effect pedia to see all the "Know..." promotion.
 
and suddenly, the str 7 things that were defending my capital moved out without warning, and a doviello scout took my capital. Game over again. This is kind of annoying
