pre-release info New Civ Game Guide: Persia

pre-release info
Tempting civ for my first game, I dislike settlement limits out of principle so the higher I can get them the better.

My kind of civ "here's your money and your soldiers, pair it with a leader who gives more money or more soldiers"

Shahanshah here we come!

I sort of want to pair KoK Xerxes with Rome, as heretical as that sounds. to pump out uber legions and push that settlement limit as much as I can.

Persia also gets +2 Settlement limit though.

I forgot precisely what bonus Rome gets... If it's more than 2 that might bias me towards Xerxes + Rome though.

Alexander the Great is mentioned. Hm, suspicious. Is he in the base game this time, I wonder?
I'm leaning towards no, reversing my original stance. The warmonger niche seems quite well covered with Ashoka World Destroyer, Trung Trac, Xerxes, Napoleon x2, presumably Genghis Khan...At this point, I'm thinking he'll be DLC again.

Will Trung Trac receive level 4 Hazarapatis with Persia?

I'm not going to make any predictions regarding base game versus DLC, but Alexander the Great is one of those individuals who is a better fit than ever thanks to the decoupling of leaders and civilizations, so I would be very surprised if he sits this instalment out.

Charlemagne is another one for that list, of course.

Still carrying a torch for Zenobia.

If they ever want to do add those civs, FXS will just change the name in the patch. We've already seen city-states being renamed once their full civ is introduced, that's quite similar.
I mean honestly they may just do something like “Persia” -> “Samanids” -> “Safavids” rather than add Persian to the end of three dynasties (not that they will necessarily add those next two just an example)

I think China and India get a semi-special treatment with their naming with both the dynasties and country

The game guide is here for Antiquity Age civ, Persia!

"The kingdom," Xshaca, or what we know as Persia, was the center of the world at its height, reigning over most of Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Anatolia. It was a strong, centralized state with efficient communication and transportation systems and a professional army, and it brought the luxuries of the world together – until the forces of Alexander the Great sent it toppling down.

very much a continuation of Civ6 self. Immortals however, became a corps of Vampire Heavy Infantry to me :P

You forgot his contributions to the spread of Hellenistic culture. :p

To me it would be weird if the first one is called Persia, while the other ones have only the dynastic names. If they don't get renamed, I could see them going Persia>Abbasids>Iran. Iran would be based off of Safavids though.
Immortal: Unique Infantry Unit. Heals for a set amount after defeating an enemy Unit.

Somebody at Firaxis saw Immortals and thought Vampires!
Well vampires already are. :mischief:

I consider it is a metaphor for the conscription system on the occupied people.

All in the good grace of laying the groundwork for Rome and the coming of the Lord, naturally.;)
Laying the groundwork for Rome is a double sin that I will be gracious enough not to lay at the feet of Alexander. :p
