Rio was a City-State since the begining, Lisbon wasn't (added in Gods & Kings too). Not sure about the rest, though...

So.., Gajah Mada eh..?

Neat~

I've seen people people suggest Romania/Wallachia with Vlad Dracula as a leader, and I like the idea... but they must have some unique gameplay, otherwise, I'd rather have Venice.

Ironic that Marrakesh and Jakarta were just added as city-states in Gods & Kings, only to be sent up to the show the very next expansion.

That's the trouble with the minor leagues... hard to keep good talent. :D

Lisbon too if I'm not mistaken.

If we find out the city-states added with GK we may be on to something.

I've just posted this in another thread, but I thought I should bring it here.

It could be Suryavarman II of the Khmer Empire.

He'd probably be wearing the crown instead of his hair being out unlike Mada:

The question is whether this is in the background. I would say that it's presumptively Indonesia unless someone can think of any appropriate building.

It looks more like this to me:

To play devil's advocate for Vietnam, here's a pic of a medieval Vietnamese general/king:

Spoiler :

Ngo-Quyen.jpg

Again, it's not a 100% match, but I can see how the headpiece could be the one the guy in the hint is wearing. I could conceivably see it as a Chinese-style headgear to keep the hair together. Add to that the fact that it wouldn't be entirely implausible to have a Vietnamese ruler running around half-naked, particularly earlier ones (the Vietnamese only adopted completely Chinese-style clothes until the early modern era, and even nowadays there's remnants of the old SE Asian style).

As for the building, I don't think it's clear enough to say it's really an Indonesia building. Could just be a stilted house or something at a weird angle, which would be Vietnamese or other SE Asian groups.

Of course, I still think it's Indonesia. But just playing devil's advocate here.

This the same guy as your photo icon? If no who is he?

And yeah, in SE Asia it gets so humid that being half-naked is nothing to bat an eye at

His icon is Khan.

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNN

As for the pic I searched up it's Ngo Quyen (though he looks a bit too European, I suppose this is the artists taking some historical liberties), who was the guy who successfully led Vietnam to independence against China. Although I could conceivably see many medieval and ancient-era Vietnamese leaders with those looks. Actually, it'd be funny if it turns out to be a super-buff Trung Trac.

Specifically Genghis Khan. ("Khan" is a title, not a name. It's like saying "King". King who?)

You just love picking fights.

Yeah I said Khan because I wasn't sure which one it was. I know Khan is a title.
