New Expansion Speculation Thread

Maybe stay away from this thread if you don't like leaks...

Ehh, it would be impossible to be on these forums for the next three months and avoid the leaks, so I have a certain sympathy. It was nice playing the guessing game throughout R&F's buildup.

. I'm torn on Eleanor; I am a huge fan of hers but she didn't really rule England or France. At least Kristina ruled her country, if badly :p
I suspect it's preparation to making Hilary Clinton American leader in Civ VII, despite of not being elected.
:)

The English and French abilities are both culture focused, so maybe she'll have an ability that allows her to take advantage of both? No idea what it would be though...

there are some very strange omissions here
portugal
ethiopia
byzantium
maya
...
the list goes on

There weren't enough slots to feature all the returning civs. There were always going to be omissions, and I'm pleased they're stilling adding fresh picks instead of just ticking off a list of classics. I wouldn't say no to a third expansion to add the civs you mention, though...

If there actually will be another expansion, I'm making a fully animated Donald Trump leader model with animations based on his real life expressions. Boyscout's promise. Well, unless you ask me not to.

I'm holding you to that for the fun of it. xD

How did this leaker get access to pictures of three of the expansion leaders? Are they a Firaxis employee?

Inevitable though. There were like... easily 16 civs that were worthy of RETURNING, and that doesn't take into account the need for new civs to be added (in this case, Maori, Canada, Hungary and Phoenicia). This is about as good as it'll get. With some luck, there will be a third xpac which will include all those you've mentioned + 4 new civs + 1 alt.

I am really looking forward to the strategic resource overhaul. I miss the days in V where there was incentive to look for more than 1-2 copies.

If the civ list is true then there will be some new city states too. Stockholm and Toronto are out, probably Auckland too?

Carthage will be out. (Like, what would Dido's capital even be otherwise?)

Why would Auckland be on the Maori city list?

Carthage will probably be on Phoenicia's city list.

Could be someone in QA, could be someone visiting their offices, could be a janitor... who knows.

Oh, their bonuses will be taken over by some new city states.

Carthage might be a Phoenician city, but capital doesn't make much sense. You have Tyre, Sidon and Byblos.

Well, Auckland is a city on New Zealand, with Maori representing the nation instead of modern day New Zealand it would make sense for it to be removed I think. Might stay though.

Edit: Spelling.

>new civs are Sweden (Kristina), Hungary (Matthias Corvinus), Inca (Pachacuti) , Ottomans (Suleiman), Mali (Mansa Musa), Maori (Kupe), Phoenicia (Dido), Canada (Laurier) + alt leader Eleanor (Fra/Eng)
>climate change and natural disasters are in
>3 new future era government types Corporate Libertarianism (Domination) Digital Democracy (Cultural) Technocracy (Science)
>World Congress, new diplo options
>Electricity and dams, cities require power which affects productivity
>strategic resources are overhauled somehow
>new wonders/natural wonders
>posted images in pic related
Sounds like some needed Changes such as the electricity and future governments which mean maybe more focus on the late game.

By now it's almost clear that nature will have its revenge in this expansion, after all the chopping we did in R&F. I wonder how they will do it. In the past they considered natural disasters (I think it was Civ III or IV) but ultimately didn't go for it because a city being randomly hit by an earthquake wasn't exactly fun. Will there be a random factor or we will have control over a certain degree? Maybe we gonna be able to tell if a region of the map is prone to a certain natural disaster, working more like a dynamic risk/reward natural wonder. Lands around a volcano are fertile and give a lot of food but it might erupt and cause a temporary setback. A certain are of the map is likely to be hit by tornados but it have whatever advantage a land cursed by tornados have. Maybe you gonna need to research certain techs or build certain buildings to get this intel. I'm curious to see if this storm actually means natural disaster and which form the mechanic will take. Either way, it seems a risk proposition, I already can see all the "seriously, Firaxis" threads with people just mad because their amazing production city was hit by a tornado.
