LizNES6- Title Currently Being Thought Of
The world of LizNES6 would take place a hundred or so years after a global pandemic, that killed a large portion of the population. And while the pandemic didn't kill society compeltely, collapsing economics and warfare did. However, this NES shouldn't focus on that. Rather, it's an excuse to have a clean slate NES that takes place with modern tech. I like personalized nations, and messed up looking worlds. And honestly, sometimes one just can't give explanations via ATL, no matter how stretched you make it.
The NES is to start in the year 2150, technically. The map you see above in the starting NES map, though the first 4 turns of the NES are to be 20 year BTs, which I will explain in a bit. Regardless, the map you see isn't the final map, rather its starting one. Over the various BTs, your nation will grow, and new nations will arise, some even breaking off of pre-existing nations. So after the 80 year collective BT, the map should be mostly filled. The current white lands represent areas that haven't developed a large enough of a central government to be considered a nation. That isn't to say government doesn't exist, rather, after the general collapse of society, local governments took over.
But perhaps I should talk about the BTs a bit first. These BTs, are supposed to be quick and easy updates. Without the normal effortand detail I put into my updates, quicker then my normal ones (I was thinking 2 a week), and in terms of players, with shorter more goal oriented orders. While a normal NES's orders would require spending, and specific things you want to do, these orders should be fairly vague and sort of describe what you hope your nation will accomplish over the next 20 years.
The reason for these BTs is to, for one, allow for a more reasonable establishment of minor nations. It wouldn't make very much sense for 20 major nations to be founded in the same year around the world. The players actions and courses they set their nation on in a BT can directly determine when a nation will arise, the attitude of the nation, where etc. Also, to increase customization of these nations, you are given basically 80 years to reasonably steer it on a course of your chosing. If, for example, you want to be a highly militaristic Franco-German Empire, do, well, militaristic things in your BT orders. If you want to be an economic giant post BT, then focus on your economy for 80 years. After the BTs, normal stats are to be given to you, which will in many ways reflect the choices you've made up to that point.
I figure, the BTs can occur in a preview thread, and simply be posted in thread, via spoilers. It will make the BTs quicker for me to do, and easier for a lot of players to manage. I don't require elaborate orders, just goals, like I said. Soon thereafter, the 'real' NES can and will be posted.
The stats for the pre-NES are to look like this (courtesy of Adrogans)
Name:
Name of your nation
Leadership Situation:
Current Government Type
Military:
Relative Strength/Focus on Military: Highest, High, Medium, Low, None
Industrial and Resources:
Industrial Strength, and Growth: Highest, High, Medium, Low, None
Economics
What is the Economic Growth Focus: Highest, High, Medium, Low, None
Food and Health
Agriculture, and Sanitation focus; effects Economics and Industry: Highest, High, Medium, Low, None
Post the BT NES, the stats will be similar to this: (hypothetical; obviously this is dependent on player BT action)
The Franco-Germanic Empire
Military Junta: Berlin
Happiness: 60%
Policy: Military
Economy: 2
Industry: 100 (+1)
Army: 10 Divisions, 2 Tank Brigades
Navy: 1 Surface Group, 1 Submarine Group
Airforce: 10 Squadrons
Technology:
While some people may complain about having to deal with the BT and then the actual NES, to me, in hindsight, this seems like a no brainer for the type of NES I've been looking for. The political, economic, international, industrial and military situation of each nation is a direct result of player action. It also allows for the focus of the NES to shift from the pandemic, which mind you should just be viewed as nothing but an explanation as to why the world is the way it is, towards handling and running your country, like a normal NES.
Economically, it'd be rather simple, 3 EP investment gives you 1 ASP growth. Better projects could always mean you get growth for less. Technology wise, I'd simply use Imago's INES III style of investment into projects and the like. My tech system for LizNES5 was a mess, and honestly as many of you can tell has never been the focus of my NES's, and I've never honestly thought it out well. But INES III tech was fairly simple to manage, at least from a players view point. Militarily, I will still differentiate between infantry divisions and tank brigades. I will seperate surface naval squadrons from submarine ones, and the airforce will simply be a vague squadron, with bombers and fighters. UUs without caps will be included.
I rather like my concept of industry, and believe I handled it decently for my first try with it in LizNES5. Stats, regardless of your focus in the BT will still be fairly low, to allow for new players to jump in, without others having
too big of an advantage.
This NES is still in the pre-production phase. Hell, this map still looks awful, and needs to be tuned up. I really want to get this one 'correct', so I don't mess it up like I have my last two. My track record has been less then spectacular recently, so I figure I'll give this a try. Questions, thoughts, interest and especially critiscisms are appreciated.
I would like to thank Adrogans a lot for his hashing out of thoughts and ideas with me.
