new patch is on its way: 1.0.1.275, released April, 28th

Looks like a good patch, hopefully sorting out a fair bit of wierd AI behaviour. I didn't see anything indicating the AI's 'I can see it, it's mine' attitude to land being fixed.
I imagine the 'much requested' feature is hotseat, replay or regenerate map/save settings.

No big changes. But AI improvements in any form are most welcome. Also, fixing the crazy naval behaviour should make coastal maps more fun. Which is good if there is a Dutch DLC coming :mischief:

I wonder what the addition will be:

Sliders?
Religion?
New policy/culture system?
Tech tree improvement/addition of copper?
New (un)happiness system?
Health?
Giant Death Robots that can fly, teleport and shoot nukes:goodjob:

My bet is that the addition cannot be anything serious gameplay thing (religion, spies, etc)
- those things will go for the would be expansion...

so only some "feature"...

yes, I also put my bet on Replay and/or graphs...

A cool looking ptach, but not as interesting as the last one. looking forward to the following one however. I think the much requested feature will end up being either replays or multiplayer.

I very much doubt they will add a new mechanic in a patch... they may wait for the expansion.

My guess about the requested feature is "replay" at the end of a game. Wasn't it one of those request they said they're "working on it"?

Moderator Action: if you bought the game, you know that it is steam exclusive and even the retail version works through steam - so all patches were available to all customers

The thead has already been warned to not make this a Steam discussion and I'd strongly recommend heading the warning going forward.

Please read the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=422889

How do you head a warning? Do I need instruction from Beckham? ;)

But just to correct you, Mac haven't received the latest patch yet (Korean Loc). So your statement that all patches are available to all customers is completely false. Just thought you should know. :)

from the 2k forums bigben, firaxis producer":

"This was a "cool down" patch to shake out any problems that already exist in the game. There were other small fixes in the code as well, regarding the coop-war functionality that was behaving erratically, etc. New, positive modifiers and the like are on the slate for the second part to the update. "

emphasis my own.

cool stuff!

What does this "second part" refer to?

That second patch to come only in months?
Or a second part of the change log of this coming patch?

What, you'd get Beckham to coach you on heading?!

Freekicks: Yes
Scoring from half way: Yes
Heading: No
Penalties: NO!

...also...

...why would you buy a Mac? They are the communists of the computing world! Even that's an insult to communists!

I'm liking the list of changes, thank goodness they're fixing that bug with the American city graphics.

Still waiting on a fix so that the Worldbuilder ads the correct amount of resources (not just one plot of each strategic resource) when you click "scatter resources". Since launch it has had a major problem with not putting any strategic resources when you click scatter resources.

Lol, Menzies. Why the political statement - aren't you sort of inviting commentary with a name, pic and sig like that?

Dale - to be fair there is good reason for that, and I doubt it's that big of an issue unless you're a Korean with a Mac.

there will be another patch 'within months'. They're claiming it's 'part 2' of this patch, but I just think it's another patch and they're just letting people know that another one is already on the way. Given how quiet 2KGreg has been lately on the 2K forums, that's not too surprising.

edit: oh, and expect another DLC civ to come. The achievements are already there.

So, new 'stabilizing patch' so that a DLC can be made now, and the big patch to come in a few months.

I think you're probably mostly right, but my bet is they decided to focus on the bugfixing and such now, while delaying most of the balance and diplo work for later. So in their minds it may be a two part process, they decided to do this stuff first, and then switch to balance and diplo after. Or something like that.

My first thought was the c++ source... but that's the "most requested thing for them to work on," not "much-requested addition to the game." It doesn't really fit the wording he used.

The irony is if they did release it, all the rest of the patch becomes unnecessary, since we'd fix everything else for them free of charge. :crazyeye:

Nah, people like playing the 'official' product. I do hope it's coming soon, though - as one of the people who is perfectly willing to download mods, I expect the quality of my experience to shoot through the roof within a few months of them releasing the C++.

Bug fixing + polish + a little bit of AI improvement will be a good patch - not exciting, but given that the gameplay is already pretty solid, good. The fact that there's another major balance patch already in the works as a follow-on to that... I can't wait to see what Civ V looks like in June.

Stealth bombers get promotions... HELLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Its about time they fixed that!!!
