New Terrain mod with rocky coastline, mountains and irrigation

I dont want to re-install civ3 all over again(yes i have done that before) i just want my shield back, is that to much to hope for?

Here you go Yoda. As a graphic creator I have found myself reinstalling civ3 many times for just one file. Well anyway wouldn't want that to happen to you here's your tnt. Backup your files before downloading new ones. ;)

Y'all should get PTW for that reason alone. It saved me lots of copying of files (and time and headaches) once Mike got the search paths thing working. You can build your graphics without having to overwrite any files.

Do you recommend getting PTW just for that? I didn't get because I figured the price was too high for a little patch that they could've given us for free and because I only have a 56k modem and multiplayer wouldn't work with that.

I love your farms (irrigation)! Those are stunning! Too bad there wasn't a Warpstorm watercolor conversion of those. ;) . . . 'cause I absolutely love Warpstorm's terrain. Good job.

I have to agree, your farms are great. IMHO, they are the best thing about the set. Mind if I try adapting them to my style?

Just for that? No, I wouldn't (actually I might, $30 isn't much to me). But there's a lot more to it than that. I know I wouldn't go back to Vanilla Civ3 for single play. I know that what is in there is a few man-years worth of work. More than a 'little patch'. It probably cost Firaxis at least half a million dollars to make.

If you are limited to a 56K modem the only MP mode that will work well is PBEM.

[dance] Really? Really? Would you really do that Warpstorm? That'd be great. I'm sure Cordy won't mind.

By the way, if you haven't heard it from me before: Thanks for all the hard work on you watercolor terrain set.

Warpstorm

If you want to modify my irrigation files to fit in with your watercolour modpack that is fine by me. If you want I can send you the masters.

Cordy

Ever since I found this IRRIGATION set by Cordy, I've used it. It's soooo much better than the originals. One thing, though, there isn't a matching set for desert.

Now there is! (I've actually had it for a while, but forgot to post it)

I grabbed bits and pieces of Cordy's irrigation and put it into the irrigation for desert. I wanted this because a) it looks better and b) I remember from my "Pharoah" game that I can build lots of different farms on flood plains: wheat, chick peas, barley, etc. I decided to leave the small buildings out of it, as this fits more in with a desert area.

By the way, I don't allow irrigating the desert, only flood plains. This is MUCH more realistic and it looks a lot better in-game (I also don't allow cities on desert tiles (except floodplains).

Heres the file: desert irrigation.zip

Oh, and a preview:

Colonel Kraken, do you mind if I "watercolor" this?

Of course not! Why even ask?! :crazyeye:

This is so funny to me. People PM me to ask if they can use my units in their mod. That's what I made 'em for. That's why they're free. Sure I like recognition, but . . .

Yes, you may. ;)

Not all people are as generous as you are Colonel
Kraken. In a world turning more and more legalistic,
it can be a good idea to ask.

2 weeks ago the new owner of the lake( I have an old
cottage nearby since 40 years) where I have little boat,
said I no longer had the right to have the boat there.....

Rocoteh

Thanks, Rocoteh. I can appreciate that. It's just that if you're posting stuff on CFC, it's free for all . . . more or less. ;) It's always good to give credit, though.
