I did not really have a lot of problem. It's just that someone started the conversion, and said he had request their authorization, then disappeared.
So I started to take over, but didn't check if the really asked authorization. It turned out he didn't, so the people at Slitherine software were a bit upset.
But after I contacted them and explained the situation, everything went fine and they granted kindly all the required authorization.
False. It may be an old game, but the rights to it are still hold by Slitherine software. If they are really pissed, you will not be in your rights.

I just got back from the desert.
Are there more terrain graphics like hills, mountains, rivers etc. from that game? Civ's terrain is nice, but there are no mountains in the desert with a green base. The base is always sand color.

Sure be nice if you could provide image files of those desert/plains mountains and hills that matches Snoop's terrain.
You can get some of them from my old game website
But they can't be used directly in Civ, they are not pcx.
I've lost the original when all my computer files were deleted by a virus.
Even if you had them, you could use them except in scenarios. Civ doesn't allow mixing desert mountains with tundra hills or grassland forested mountains as my game did
This is more to be seen as a demonstration of possible graphics, an evolution of CivIII
My new game is a lot more flexible, but I lack a talented artist to make the graphics and turns it to a real game

I'm signing in here to follow this thread. I love the look of this terrain ad would like to use it when it is completed. As someone said, nice eye candy. 
Very beautiful. This is why I love Civ3--one of the downsides with Civ4 is that the terrain always looks the same, no matter what map settings I employ.

This is really beautiful stuff. I hope to get back into terrain editting when I get back home, but these will definitely be used.
