but it should be overridden if the modder specifies a different value. Is that not happening?
Yes, it does, no problem.

It was more for an understanding of the mechanism. You may have explained it elsewhere on the forum (removed the distinction between the Friendly and Protective approaches in the DLL) but I had missed the information and not found. Thanks for the explanations, it's much clearer to me.

I came back to VP after a few months break, great as ever - thanks guys! One question though, how do the spies level up now? I had mine parked in enemy cities, doing several successful actions and they are still lvl 1

They have a chance to level up. Yes, they level up with spy actions. If there are a lot of people spying on a city, then counter spy kills will happen more frequently than you could manage just with spying.

I definitely finished the atomic era with one third level spy from counter spying. The others got to level 2 from spying actions.

While we are on spies again...
The disrupt production mission was successful against me. Was I supposed to lose -700 production? This did not happen.
On completing the mission against another Civ I didn't gain 700 production but I think that is intended.
Just wondering if my spy system is bugged.

Here are the notifications:
Notification 1
Recruit Demeke succeed in Assur (Demeke is not my spy)
Target city -700 production

Notification 2
a Assyira operatives
succeeded in Assur (What does this mean? It implies my operative (my spy did something when I'm the one being targeted?)
a Assyria spies completed a spy action in Assur. Disrupt local production. (I don't have a counter spy).
Disrupt local production. Target city -700 production.

A couple of bug reports have been filed for this. It is supposed to be notifying you that a foreign spy has disrupted production in your city, but it's sending the wrong notifications

The production disruption action itself not removing production from the city is, I think, unreported. If you can supply a save file if the turn before and create an issue on GitHub, it would be appreciated.

How's everyone doing? Sorry I've been out of pocket lately, (full disclosure) we just had a new baby and, well, awake time is fleeting at the moment!
All my congratulations to the happy parents :hatsoff:. It's okay to spend more time with your IRL offspring than the dematerialized one :).

Congratulations! Best wishes, health, luck and happiness to you and your family! Thanks for all your work on VP.

Congratz G. Many well wishes.

Thanks Rekk. Ah that makes more sense now.
I'd try to send a bug report but my autosave for that turn is long gone. If it happens again (no production lost) I'll create an issue.

PS - Congrats Gazebo! Good luck with all, always.

Ok, that clears up my own confusion. I thought I was doing something wrong with espionage.
On a personal note, thank you to whomever adjusted the AI city settling weights. I am now seeing the AI's pop down more than 5 or 6 cities ( huge maps +). Additionally, the AI city placement is more logical than erratic, and they get more testy when you reciprocate vs them ( got to admit, that's a definite Mwahahahaha moment for me).
I have noticed once colonists are available, the AI will make use of them as well. Definitely enjoying the new update, you folks rock! Keep up the amazing work.

I know a good pediatrician if you don't mind commuting to central Ohio every time the baby needs shots and/or is sick.

How to get to this antiquity site?
