New Version - 4.20.1 (March 10, 2025)

Hey everyone,

maybe I could ask for someone with an account to post this save for me as a bug report? I'm in a joint war with brazil against the huns. I already killed a bunch of units, but you can kill the horseman that is almost dead. No diplomatic modifier for fight against common enemy.

Version 4.20.1, no other mods. Would be much appreciated!
I can do it for you.
Can you fill the following entries so I just paste them to send the issue?

1. Mod Version (X.Y.Z). Current Version:

2. DirectX Version

3. List of Other Mods

4. Describe the Issue

5. Save Game From 1 Turn Before

6. Logs (ALWAYS ATTACH THESE IF POSSIBLE)

7. CvMiniDump.dmp File (ATTACH IF REPORTING A GAME CRASH)

8. Steps to reproduce the Issue (Optional)

9. Screenshots of the Issue (Optional)

For the logs in point 6, you have to enable logging (guide here) then start the game and repeat the bug.
Once done you go to Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Logs folder and attach the Lua.log, Database.log, stopwatch.log files.

Point 7 is not needed because it's not a bug that caused a crash to desktop.

Don't have an account and am not well versed with the platform.
just fyi: github looks a little technical to the uninitiated, and does have all kinds of development-oriented features and functions -- but to do bug reports it functions pretty much identically to the message boards here on CF, albeit with different UI -- posting a bug report is very much akin to starting a new thread here.

Does AI get instant science bonus in the early game depending on difficulty settings? I know we got rid of the ABC thing but I don't know how it works now.

The next bug will get reported by me (if I find another). Thanks for the support and advice!

Could you post the link to that thread?

AI still abandoning cities. Greece defended Athens with one catapult on King difficulty despite being the greatest military power. The diplomatic units can no longer be automized (automated?), not sure if it's intended or not.
Can anyone else verify if this is still happening in the newest version 4.20.1?

Started a game as shaka and rolled china with spears, if I let the AI build up they put up more resistance.
In general the AI still rather move a low hp unit (that risk die) out than have it sit defend in the city even if it cant replace that unit.
I wonder if the"unit %hp is same as city %hp" is an issue? since the AI cant just buy a new full hp unit in THIS city.

In some instances, is this not the smartest move by the AI? If a highly promoted unit is going to die, then move it out and let it heal. Get another unit into defend the city on the next turn or retake the city in the next turn/subsequent turns, while the highly promoted unit has time to heal.

How much of an impact is this tactical retreating having on games?

Yes but when you dont have another unit to move in its a tough call and probably better to just fortify inside.
Or even worse have another unit but dont move it in because its chasing units outside.
City garisson seems to have too low prio.
I wonder if the %hp according to city hp was maybe a mistake, is there any way I can test to play with units having always full hp on purchase/build to see if the AI derps less?

While its "only" emperor an AI shouldnt randomly lose a city to barbs, note this is even Authority AI who isnt at war.
(standard barbs setting)
