I never heard of him as little, young or adult. Not until Internet showed me stuff. What I think I keep to myself right now, but really, why was he excluded from all history books?

Who decided to exclude him and why?

A very interesting figure, indeed.

AND who was the man?

(if a thread like this has been before I want to revive it)

He wasn't.
Else you would not be making this thread.

I also disagree with the idea that he was unknown. The unit for magnetic flux is named after him. And that's a pretty import thing in electromagnetism.

He was fairly popular earlier in life. His useful inventions did well. Later in life he seemed hung up on the idea of transferring electricity wirelessly. He expended a lot of resources trying to develop this impossible technology. Something that we still haven't achieved.

Netflix has a pretty good documentary on him if you are interested.

Ha, well nature has us beat. For now...

Tesla is a favorite of cranks who think that he succeeded in creating superweapons or limitless cheap energy which have been suppressed and hidden by everyone from the US Government to the Illuminati.

Tesla was the greatest geek who ever lived.

I learned about him in school. In fact, on more than one occasion I was introduced to Tesla coils in science class

Edison, I only heard his name in passing. He invented this and that okay, big deal, moving on. Let's take a look at that awesome looking Tesla coil again

Most of his inventions deserve the label "awesome, but impractical". As a result, their immediate impact on the world wasn't that big, which probably diminished his fame. But having an important SI-unit named after himself (replacing Gauß of all people!) isn't too bad.

I learned a lot about edison but that might be cus I live in south east michigan, where edison grew up. He was friends with Henry Ford. There's a lot of stuff about edison on display in museums around here. Plus detroit edision electric company.

Tesla invented fake news
No.... Edison did

With electricity they were Alternating Currents

With the sound of music the credit goes to Edison :)

Edison killing Topsy the Elephant to show how dangerous AC was is another myth.
It was a bunch of different animals years earlier.

Can't believe they had film in 1903.

Still, killing 3 humans, Topsy had to be put down.
RIP
Spoiler :

Tesla pissed off JP Morgan too, got him to invest and used the money for his wireless transfer of electricity

or something like that

I might be an older person than many of you, but in my books back at school, his name never came up. Not in any class like Maths, Science, Physics or Chemistry. And I come from Sweden, the land of discoveries and open mind! I feel I have been blindfolded for some reason, not sure how this worked out in different countries? Can you please add your country and say if you read about him in school or not! Illuminati, well, I really hope they didn't start in Sweden, lol. :)
