NiNES: A Broken Galaxy

BY PM!! :gripe:

Sorry, I'll make sure to do so in the future.

OOC:

Assuming things is generally a bad PR move :p

At least you came out and said it, that's twice now ;)

Incidentally, The Church of Jesus the White Christ sends repeated strong messages to the Magistracy of Capella to treat the ˝Fugles˝ better.

System Profile:
Delta Eridani, Inner worlds.
Also Known as Rana

System Note:
Delta Eridani is approaching the Red Giant Stage of it's life Cycle and within 30-40,000 years will fully consume all planets in the system. Sole Life supporting planet will be rendered Uninhabitable within 3000 years. Details on reasons for colonization below in individual planet sections.

Delta Eridani I: an unnamed world that will be fully consumed by Delta Eridani within a few decades at most.

Delta Eridani II: Rana. a small, Hellish world of unusual density, and near earth normal gravity. Tidally Locked with it's sun, it's sun ward side is a hellish desert, and it's other side a frozen wasteland. the only section of the planet that particularly habitual was a narrow, 100 mile wide band around the equator. when combined with the limited lifespan any colony on rana would enjoy, it is quite a wonder why a colony was established.
Until one take a closer look at Rana's composition. then the reason for it's colonization become apparent. It's surface is rich in radioactives, Rare Earths, and several rare chemical compounds. When this fact was found out, it became a boomtown, domed cities began to dot the surface of it's habitable belt. It was a Boomtown colony.
eventually, most of the easily accessible deposits were mined out and It's overall production died off, though It still was a Major Exporter of Rare Earth, with approximately 10% of the rare Earths used in production galaxy wide originating from Rana just prior to the scourge.
Strangely enough, It's boomtown origins were responsible for the higher then average survival rat of it's citizens during the scourge years, despite the hostility of their planet. Repeated Redundancy of their environmental systems. layers upon layers of old outdated technology, not very well maintained, but intact, and still quite functional when the Modern systems were rendered useless by the scourge. while over 80% of Rana's population did die before the nekomi arrived to help stabilizes the environmental systems, that was still vastly greater then elsewhere, where a world was lucky to see 10% of it's population survive scourge years.

Rana Warp gate:
Rana's warp gate at it's greatest held only 12 gates, though several of them were approaching the maximum limit of distances a warp gate could safely cover. Presently, the warp gate only connects Rana to two other systems.
It is located in Rana's shadow.

Ugh, so lethargic....

Will write something sooner or later, or a few somethings...or something like that...

Curse you artsy people and your graphical skills!

Magistracy still stonewalling Collision Probe
A nonbinding vote of favor shows a majority of the Governancy to be in favor of using the ESIPA to investigate if no convincing explanation is received within two weeks. Representative Magdeen has called the collision "an act of sheer stupidity" and proposes suspending all trade with the Magistracy unless they institute ship safety protocols. more...

Population boom as migration reaches new heights
One in five Charan residents say they plan to move to Whatsitsname within the next three years, and four of five Emergents say that they expect to spend at least one month in another system during the next three years. Spate of disorientated Capella tourists continues
Last month, as many as seventeen Providential citiziens were found wandering in Capellan cities wearing only a loin cloth. Several of them were initially mistaken for Fugles, the slave caste of Capella, and maltreated before managing to contact a Providential embassy. Some of them report becoming overly intoxicated during various pleasure rituals, more...

OOC:
just for reference, I'm developing my system profiles based on the wikipidia entries for the stars, and their entries at sol station. very handy for determing where to put the the habitable worlds. though I don't strictly follow their guides.

Ok, with only one response from Kalia the War games have expanded to 4 teams.

I have organized them into teams and it seems that all teams have the same level of weapons which is good. :p

The field of battle is large, due to low population around the battlefields.

Objective is to capture the enemy flag.... no need to take it back to friendly lines. It is like taking a city, once you take it it is over.

Group A (battlefield: North America, Desert.)

Furians: (Red Team) 1,000 Infantry, 500 tanks
Hurisians: (Blue Team) 1,000 Infantry, 500 tanks

Group B (Battlefield: Africa, Desert.)

Emergents: (Red Team) 3,000 Infantry, 300 tanks
Confederate of Kalia: (Blue Team) 1,200 Infantry, 480 tanks.

This is still open to new teams, the games will not start until the opening ceremonies and when the war games will be played on the list of events.

Those that wish to do so may resend their battle orders, if you do not I will assume you still want me to use the ones you sent with your numbers. To those who have not sent battle orders will need to send them or they will be disqualified.

Those that have not sent battle orders:

Kalia

The Hurisians and Emergents, I have yours but if you want to resend a new set I will accept those.

HOLDING HOSPITAL

said the plaque over the door. Although it was named after a Stephen Halding, "Holding" was a more apt descriptor, seeing as the hospital was partly a storage area for Scourge victims. They were stacked and curled up in neat, tightly spaced rows. They had lain here for ten years. An enormous stroke of luck had left most of Holding intact, and although it had taken a great deal of resources to keep Holding running in the years after the Scourge, most of the Emergents agreed that it had paid for itself both in lives and money, since every so often an inhabitant would wake up and perhaps possess near-perfect memory of life before the Scourge - which had been striking as they became comatose, and so they remembered far better how things had worked back then. And there was always a celebration when what looked like a warm corpse turned into a family member that had been thought dead long ago. Elric, for example, had been just another body for a decade. Then the monitoring device (so basic that a teenager could have built one, even right after the Scourge) at the end of his bed suddenly began to beep quietly. This triggered a more sophisticated device, a waddling, six-legged robot, to come out from a flap in the wall. The hexapede extruded a small clamp with a needle, stuck it into the unidentified person, and registered him as being noncomatose. This was unusual, so the hexapede beeped louder and ran off to find a doctor. A doctor arrived shortly to hear the man screaming "ELRIC! ELRIC! ELRIC!" at the top of his voice. Once quietened, he said that the only thing stuck in his mind was that his name was Elric, and he felt like horrible things had been happening to him for years, and he was very unclear as to what had been happening to him. The doctor put out an announcement with his name and face on, asking for friends or relatives to identify him.
Elric spent two days waiting in intensive care, exercising his wasted muscles. At the end of that time, he could stand up and walk from one end of the room to the other without falling down, and seemed well on the way to recovery.
Then a middle-aged woman arrived, telling the doctor that her daughter used to play with a boy named Elric when she was younger, and while she didn't remember very much, she remembered that Elric's family had been lower middle class, and did Elric remember Prissy Missy Tatter, did he have brown hair, and was it curly, and did he like potato pancakes, and did he remember playing Cat's Cradle?
Elric remembered pancakes and a girl named Tatter without prompting when the doctor asked him to describe his childhood, and agreed that the other things might have happened to him. The woman got a note from the doctor that Elric was to stay with her for a week. At the end of the week, if nobody else had recognized Elric, she would be considered his legal guardian for a year while he established a new life.

Will send War Games orders shortly

need some time to think, and I wanted to know what I was up against

also, Opening Ceremonies coming soon, but I have some RL matters to take care of first

TO: Magistracy of Capella
FROM: Emergents of Providence

We demand an explanation of why your ship careened into ours, apparently without taking safety precautions like landing at your colony for even minimal repairs.

To the Emergents of Providence

We helped take down the defences of Errai with what little military capability we had and paid dearly for it. 140 of our noble sailors died to make Errai a livable place for both Capellans and Emergents.
The ship was damaged and was being pulled back to Capella VII for major repairs.

The least I could expect from you is some gratitude.

I am, &c.

RL (2 jobs, 2 degrees and 1 band.. well, it's a lot on a plate) is giving me a massive kick in the butt. If I'm lucky I'll be able to throw in a story or two plus orders in about 12 hours.

To the Magistracy of Capella
[insert standard diplomatic boilerplate]
Let us both set up a joint commission to investigate the accident, and we will pay [3PP] towards repairs of the Incubus.

That would be appreciated, if there was an Incubus left to repair...

To the Nekomi
As long as you are aware that we are allied to the Furians already, we accept this offer, and hope that you will choose to ally with the Furians also. Let us join forces, as all humanity did in the past!
(OOC: In reality, of course, humans mostly banded together against "barbarians at the gates", aka outside threats. This holds true for families, to villages, to clans, all the way up to states and perhaps entities such as the EU and the USA.)

OOC: :wallbash: , I was looking at last turn's stats saved in my computer where it still showed as damaged.
