NiNES: A Broken Galaxy

OOC: well, yuo will get the contacts by next turn, since I Am sending ships that way this turn to establish contact.

IC:
To UPNCS
We wish to ask Permision to send a single Corrvette to Escort the Colony ship we are dispatching to Barnard this turn. We will disarm and de-power all it's Offensice and defensive systems durring It's passage. If you do not wish to allow this, we will, Of course, send only the Colony ship through on it's trip.

Ah very well then. To all those I have talked to I do not have contact with, we'll see next year but hopefully nothing will change.

Also alex dont forget to put our deal into your orders or as Niklas says it never happened.

OOC: If Alex comes along and agrees to give out your contact right away then all is fine.

From: UPNCS
To: Nekomi

We will allow a single corvette to escort your colony ship from the Sirius gate to the Barnard gate.

[THERE ARE NO TIME POLICE]

-10 pirate points for you Symph. Your reasons suck. What happened to sticking with your nation till the burning end of it?

But whatever, your stories will be missed.

OOC: Read Symphony's post here. He's made me realize that what I created is getting out of control. Suggestions for IC actions I can take to stop this are urgently wanted.

Symphony D. said:
(yes, I did see the alteration of Disenfracised's post from "Communists" to "benevolents")
That was a censor filter. You may note this by trying to make a new post and using Preview.

Here's what gave me the idea, by the way:
OOC: Diplomacy all responded to. Time for a story!

"Speak, Charoni."

"President, Huris simply cannot continue to be technologically dependent on other powers. It reduces our independence, atrophies the capacities of our own technologists, and pours huge amounts of our economy into other nations, causing a vicious cycle of dependence. To prevent corporate domination from reaching us again, or even domination from these 'Emergents' we must remain self-sufficient."

My head is too small too grasp what the hell you are talking about. I'm simply going to mind my own business.

OOC: LOL!!! umm, I can not see the GTE reaching that point. the personalities of the various factions are to different, and while I do see True alliances happening between a few factions, the GTE will probably fall apart in 3-4 Turns. the reason? well, at that point, almost all the stars will have been claimed or Collinized, and the various nations will turn to eather inward improvement, or Conquest...

My oh my is this what is this what is about, a coalition of factions? Like always if there are Allies, there must be an Axis. One cannot exist without the other. You might say Axis always loses, but that need not be the case.

This is just to note that I'm here, I see and hear. And I agree that something needs to be done, the GTE is a bit more powerful than what I had envisioned when drafting the rules for the game, and it does upset game balance somewhat. That's purely from an OOC perspective as game moderator. I will do what I can to find a suitable solution to this, just pretending nothing is wrong will not serve this game. If anyone feels they have any ideas about this, feel free to write me a PM.

Actually this might not be very likely, due to the power of the grouping formed. Much like the current US hyperpower, no one can really do anything to change it (as enough will continue to help the hyperpower if they break ranks).

Also I'm sure/hope alex will forward contacts.

@Erik a perhap better way to have served the good of humanity would have been to set up a 'Intersteller reconstruction package' making basic medical technologies and a few redevelopment technolgies freely available, and then have normal one-party to another trades above that. I hope you see the problem is not so much that you will do what symphony has outlined, but that you could and no one could really stop you if things go ahead.

Ah but you see those that break ranks will be forcably brought back into the fold, for the greater good of course :)

Well that's why there is a Olympic skill of synchronized breaking.

Problem comes when not enough people do and get devestated by the loyalists and the superpower, see a whole bunch of NESes I could name:)

I know, it's not an Olympic skill for nothing :)

Break what ranks? eather the Alliance splits into two-three groups, or multiple nations break away from it at the same time. the critical number of nations where this remains a good Deal is four nations. With three nations, It is a decent deal, but requires much more investment for fewer gains. with Two, it no longer Exists. the GTE is powerfull, but it will improve ti's members to fast, and is much to fragile to support the rise of such power.

It is a hyper power, but it is not a stable hyper power and will break apart into 2-3 superpower blocks in the end. that is my predictions.

Somehow TerrisH, your former attempts at predicting how things will go makes my confidence in your assertion somewhat lacking ;).
