Ladies and gentlemen, it's finally here:
some junk Nylan threw together to get the NES back on track!

Welcome back to the USC-Nekomi rivalry match! Im Jeff Youbetcha and this is Joe Dirt. Joe, what can you say about the rest of this match?
Well Jeff, like you say, its gonna be a close one. Both teams have put up a strong front, and that lucky cross-turned-goal is the only reason USC has the 1up on the freakish cat-people.
Now Joe, lets try to keep things pc

Sorry Jeff. Anyways, enough talk, lets get back to the game!
USC had the kickoff. Once the forwards got the ball rolling they immediately passed it backfield to one of the midfielders to play with while the offense pushed downfield. The Nekomi defenders rushed forward to intercept, and the second half of the match was on.
For the first thirty seven minutes, nothing much happened. The ball essentially stayed in midfield, each attempt at a lob and each aggressive run was shut down by the opposing team. The only incident of note was a particular call when a Commonwealth player slide tackled a Nekomi forward from behind, hitting her (co-ed sport

) in the calf. Her leg buckled under and she fell. No call was made however. Furious, the Nekomi girl extended her retractable claws and put on a burst of speed to catch up with the dirty pure*. After a few moments they were neck and neck. The Nekomi slashed the mans face and he fell to the ground. She swiped again and caught his ear as he fell to the ground, simultaneously shredding the game ball.
The ref blew his whistle and hurried over to see what was the matter. A red card was issued and the Nekomi, whose name was Jezebel, was ousted from the match, meaning the Nekomi would be a player down for the next two matches. The Commonwealth blew the free kick however, sending it into the sidelines. Their coach immediately called a time out and started jumping up and down, shouting at the refs. He demanded that another free kick be given because Jezebel had also shredded a game ball
with was technically hands. The referee refused however, and with a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct the game was back underway.
From that point on the two teams became more and more brutal, shoving each other at every opportunity and trying to induce as much pain as possible with each tackle and dodge. The game was getting truly brutal, but no other fouls were called.
Around minute eighty, it finally seemed that some progress was being made. The Nekomi broke though the defensive line of the Commonwealth and had a clear shot at the goal. The two Nekomi forwards left, one of which a pure, raced upfield. The pure crossed it to his counterpart, who was running parallel with him. Just as it seemed a goal was in reach, off sides was called. This drew an outrage from the crowd and coaches, as it was clearly an unfair call. However, the ref refused to budge and as the rules of the game dictate, the ref is always right. (Referees had been kept in football despite advanced technology which would be better suited to monitor rules mainly due to the widely held belief in the sports world that if the ref dont see it, its fair game!, thus emphasizing working around the ref as just part of the game). A kick was given for the Commonwealth, but again their weakness in kicking showed through and the ball went out of bounds. A Nekomi throw brought the ball back in near the USC penalty box, and the energy in the stadium swelled as the forwards continued to work forward. A cross to the center followed by a header and
GOAL!!!!!!
The crowd went wild, there was only three minutes left to play. It looked as if the game would go into overtime, and that was certainly the best way to finish off a classic rivalry game. Both teams, however, decided that it would end right then and there. A goal must be scored, neither team would admit being compared in skill level to the other, as extra time would connotate. When the whistle blew for play to resume it seemed as if the apocalypse was near. Such violence had never been seen before in the history of the game. Bodies were slamming into each other, being knocked to the ground, and were flipped over each other. The referee would have called fouls, but he too had been knocked to the ground and was in the process of getting up, dazed from a blow to the head, when the Nekomi were yet again racing down the field. The pure had a break and was putting every ounce of energy he had left into racing towards the goalie. If he could meet him in a one-on-one situation, he was confident he could secure victory for his team. The defense, however, was gaining on him. Antoni Villa, team captain and arguably the best defender in the game, was closing the gap rapidly. The crowds were on the edge of their seats as the seconds passed and the Purple and Blue blurs raced down the field

but the ball never left the ground. Just as the pure was kicking the ball, Antoni shoved him in the back and he stumbled, collapsing to the ground. The blue-clad defender then promptly took the ball and punted it to his forwards, who made short work of the outraged Nekomi and scored a game-winning goal with eighteen seconds left on the clock.
Later, after the game, when the press was searching for the referee to demand an explanation for why he did not call a foul on Antoni, he was nowhere to be found. Three days later though, his body was found in the Tiber river, not far from the stadium. He had a bullet wound to the head. Presumably the work of angry Nekomi fans, but was it? No one knows for sure...
*Pures is a Nekomi term referring to those without augmentation.

@germanicus, Ill try my best to get my War Games orders in as soon as possible, but idk if Ill have them done before I leave, and if not they most likely wont be ready until Sunday. Its hills? Or a wooded valley? Itd hard to tell exactly what the terrain is from your description, and are the mountains part of the battlefield as well?
