NOTW XLV: The DOOM Project

All shall be explained. For now, I shall say that Dreadnought is the more agreeable of the two for me.
I have no affiliation with Zack whatsoever.

Given that I killed you, I can't vote with you.

So, last day everyone was harping on about how we should leave to complete the BLUFOR objective and now everyone wants not to complete it… I repeat, I'm stumped.

But yeah, let's Roundhouse Kick both of them for putting us through this.

Well, if we choose Zack, then we would complete our objective.

But he sent classical and CivCube to kill us.

Dreadnought, on the other hand, seems to want to use these to save the world, but giving him the relics would have our mission result in a failure because Zack hired us to retrieve the relics.

And we wanted to complete our mission before completing our mission became a distasteful option.

I still want to to hear from NC. The way Dreadnought responded still feels like NC knows more than he is telling.

Dreadnought, I see you've manipulated these poor mercenaries even better than I originally thought.

Dreadnought accuses me of instructing your fellow comrades classical_hero and CivCube to attack the rest of you. Perhaps I did, but who could blame me? I thought I had hired the top mercenaries the world has to offer, but instead I found a bunch of lackadaisical employees who went about their work in an inappropriately casual manner, viewing their mission as simple babysitting. I had to instill a sense of urgency, you see.

Once the relics were secured, I was happy to let all of you get out of the caverns.

I never killed innocent people. Dreadnought, on the other hand...

Poor, young, innocent Bobby Keilman tried to escape. Dreadnought promptly murdered him.

Dreadnought shook his head in disagreement. Before he could respond, though, Bobby Keilman squirmed out of your grip and approached him. "Please, sir, I just want to go home. I just--"

Dreadnought's reaction was inhumanly quick. "GET BACK, SCUM!" he roars with a bestial voice, drawing his pistol. He fires three shots into the young boy, sending him collapsing backwards. Death was immediate.

"What the f--" you begin, but Dreadnought speaks again.

"No one is leaving until the mission is complete." Waving with one hand, he motioned towards the stairway, which violently begins to shake with tremors.

Dreadnought has the nerve to accuse me of instructing some of the mercenaries to attack others, when he clearly showed that failure to complete the mission would result in death at his hands! Not to mention the fact that dcmort93 discovered -- Dreadnought is working with none other than Lucifer himself in his maniacal quest, if it is even real! There are plenty of things to accuse me of, but I have never been in cahoots with the devil himself.

I had no idea the Spiritus-Raptor was here -- I thought it was just the relics and the lazy mercenaries I hired. Dreadnought knew the whole time there were larger forces at work.

Did he inform you of this danger? Did he even bother helping you to defeat this monstrosity he supposedly squares off against on a regular basis?

NO! He didn't!

I gave you all the information I had, all the help I could. Dreadnought cannot truthfully claim the same.

Furthermore, even if you still prefer Dreadnought over me, consider the following:

Whatever Dreadnought promises you in return for giving him the relics is a lie. He claims there is a larger battle at stake -- where's the proof? If his cause is so noble, why does he murder innocent boys like Bobby? Why does he resort to blackmail and murder to achieve his goals? Why does he refuse to help?

What in the world makes you think he'll give you any reward?

On the other hand, I will honor the contract you signed, and more. Technically, I only promised you $50,000 for this mission, but that was before I knew the supernatural danger in it; I'll be generous. NinjaCow64 wants a million dollars? Done. Choxorn wants a lifetime supply of watermelons? Done, and I'll even throw in a lifetime supply of money with it. Whatever your asking price is, I can meet it. Whatever Dreadnought falsely promises you, I'll match it and add the original $50,000 to it.

Give me the relics, and the rewards are rich indeed.

Finally, if you still aren't convinced, I have one final point to make.

You're the world's top mercenaries. Nobody is better. Your sterling reputation is the reason you were hired for this mission.

You are contractually obligated to honor your contract and give me the relics.

If you give the relics to Dreadnought, you are breaking your contract. You are forfeiting your rewards. Your reputation will plummet. No one will ever employ you again -- no one wants to work with employees who so blatantly ignore and violate their contracts. I personally will not seek to harm you, but I cannot promise you that others will not. You think you can break such an important contract without suffering any consequences? My bitter superiors may very well order assassins to take out the unruly mercenaries. DOOM's enterprise will be ruined.

If you foolishly think that giving the relics to Dreadnought is the more morally sound choice, then I have been deceived. I was led to believe I hired world-class mercenaries who never fail to honor their contracts and complete their missions, not a bunch of armchair philosophers.

Honor your contract and you will be rewarded with wealth beyond your wildest dreads. Break it, and you will live a miserable life, if you live one at all.

Not to mention that you can only fulfill your objectives by giving me the relics. Giving them to Dreadnought ensures your defeat.

Make the right choice.

What the heck.

Wait a sec here. When did I figure this one out cause I have no recollection of that fact.

Nope, but I'm not going to be some corporate schmo's lapdog either. This is my chance to 'stick it to the man'. I want to take it, any of my fellow mercs who have ever wanted to shove a contract up some slimy, slick, quick talking corporate scumbag, now's your chance.

Seeing the great battle about to unfold, and knowing that it would even hold influence over his own domain, Satan marched his armies forth from Hell to the desert plains. With his forces in full battle regalia, he negotiated with God: his armies would fight along with Heaven's angels against this vile enemy, so long as the vanquished foe would be kept locked away on Earth rather than sent back to Hell; Satan made this offer because he understood the damage that would be caused when The Fiend's chief lieutenant could no longer command on the battlefields of Hell. God knew that, without Satan's Legions, the Earth would become a ruined world of war and strife, so he accepted the deal; for he knew that there was one way to keep Spiritus-Raptor locked away on Earth.

Think a minute about what an "archangel" is, everyone.

That's right, folks. I'm working with Heaven. Dreadnought and his cronies are on Hell's side, working in cahoots with Lucifer and his demons.

Pick Heaven and honoring the contract and completing your objectives, or pick Hell and failure.

I have a feeling Dreadnought is trying to destroy rather than save. Just a feeling.

And how exactly does this imply anything at all. To get that Drednought is working with Lucifer out of this is one hell of a reach. How do we know that YOU aren't Lucifer an that Drednought is Michael?

Hello? Dreadnought told you I sent Archangels, which I have confirmed. How could he possibly be working for Heaven? How could I possibly be working for anything else?

Why don't you ask Dreadnought himself about his buddy Lucifer?

Lucifer and his crew are angels, too, even if they're fallen angels.

And Bobby Keilman moved an immovable relic from a stone. There was something... not quite right about that kid. Who's to say, if Dreadnought's Michael and you're Lucifer, that he wasn't entirely human either?

And, as I have said, I don't want watermelons, or money. I just want to roundhouse kick both of you in the face.

Okay, and maybe I also want money.
