NOTW XXXIII:An End to War: Game Thread

I'm so confused. So the Zelots are not refugees, but they are some sort of cult, right? I think I not only killed the people I was supposed to be helping, but I think I killed someone who would've fulfilled my personal goal. Oops. Sorry refugees.

This is why you don't get someone who knows nothing about night of the werewolves or fall from heaven to play...

They won because of how brutally overpowered their team was. Someone had a Victory Condition scan that worked perfectly (CCRunner told me that he received a result that said something like "TheForestAuro is MAFIA!...err, I mean interesting!") and a day kill that made him look like a vigilante, and a team that made him look like an innocent, and a Victory that revolved around getting some items.

Blargh, we lose.

Good game everyone, especially the winners CCRunner, Takhisis & Kennigit (yes, Kennigit was part of the winning team, I think he deserves a rank at least equal to the innocent who lost but reached their PG. Survival is not everything in mafia games you know).

Thanks to autolycus and J65 for hosting this fun game! :goodjob:

This game was rough for me, my blacksmith ability let me combine two weapons to forge a stronger one, but how am I supposed to convince people to give me their weapons? Of course nobody was willing to! Except landlubber (thanks for your trust my friend :)), who was willing to give me his sword if I found a 2nd weapon, however I was never able to until too late.

I'm curious to know what weapons I could have built. Autolycus, can you show us a list?

What.

How the heck did they win with 8 other people still alive, did they have some VC not relying on strength or numbers?

And why is my PG not complete?

Because you were killed on the last day maybe. Everyone up with completed PG was still alive at the end.

That's what happens when people act like sheep.

Well done to CCRunner & co. for taking full advantage of the town's preference for lazy obedience in all instances.

Winston, you had a knife and never trusted me with it. I'm shocked. That might have changed the game, who knows? All these talks we had about forging materials, telling me to keep looking while you were hiding one from me :(

Be careful with overpowered talk before you know what were the game mechanics. I believe CCRunner didn't have a vigilante ability, it was the sword granting him daykills, similar to the knife I picked (2 kills total for the sword, 1 for the knife if I'm right about this). He also had a Bow, which may have helped him.

Did my personal goal end up complete?

I did heal myself with john's herbs and only gave CCRunner the stone on the condition that I was given the longbow. That should make me stronger, if not the strongest around.

Anyway; Looking forward to the character PMs and stuff!

They had an item victory. Diamondeye gave them their last item at the morning update. PG completion was only considered for those still alive. You got killed that night.

You guys didn't lynch CCRunner after he confessed? And you gave him stuff, to boot? WTH?

Not happy.

Although I apologize a lot for giving away tons of secrets to the Sheaim based on a random prophet result. *sigh*

I want to see who could have helped me in my goal. I needed some bat guano to make my potion, well it would have been an explosive, but still it would have worked, or I could have made a poultice by combining Flowering and Leafy Herbs.

Role PMs and comments
Spoiler Apothecary :
Name:classical_hero
Role:Apothecary
Nationality: Amurite
Race: Human
Alignment: Good
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Make a potion of some sort
Ability: Can make potions
Item: Newt Tail
Strength: 1 (1)
Gender: Female

You have lived in Amure your whole life. While you had no innate magical abilities, your affinity for potions landed you a cushy job as an apothecary's apprentice and then an apothecary. You have lost everything, but are prepared to start over. You have two recipes that you think you might be able to find the components for along the way: You can make an Explosive using Bat Guano and either a Cow's Heart or Newt's Tail
You can make a poultice by combining Flowering and Leafy Herbs

The explosive was a one time kill, like poison and the knife. The poultice was a single use heal of plague or injury.
Spoiler Blacksmith :
Name:Romanichine
Role: Blacksmith
Nationality: Khazad
Race: Dwarf
Alignment: Evil
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Make a new and improved weapon
Ability: Can forge new weapons on the anvil
Item: Anvil (Enables you to destroy most items
Strength: 2 (2)
Gender: Male

You haven't seen Khazad in years, not that that is a problem. In the bustling town of Cevedes, you have prospered. Everyone needs a Blacksmith especially during a war, and everyone knows Dwarven ones are the best. Business was good and has made you wealthy, however with the town gone that does not matter any more. You have joined one of the many refugee trains pouring out of Cevedes with the hope of continuing your business in some other town. However just because you are traveling is no reason to stop making things. You can’t expect to mine ore while traveling so all that there is to do is use existing items, in fact if you could get your hands on a couple of items you might be able to make something better than the sum of the parts. A new town means no competition and high demand. Monopoly, here you come!
Out of laziness, all items he could create were the same. Knife + any other weapon equalled halberd (+2 strength, protect and one-time vig).
Spoiler Body Mage :
Name: niklas
Role: Body Mage (Actually Law Mage)
Nationality: Amurite
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Pillars of the Community (At least 2 of Luonnatar Treasurer Merchant and Scholar survive.)
Ability: Everything in its place. Each night, you can reach out and determine if someone is where they're supposed to be.
Item: None
Strength: 1 (1)
Gender: Male

You are a mage of Amure. Or were, I guess, now that Amure's gone. So is the order that you held to so much. Afraid of the possible repercussions of being a Law Mage in a chaotic world, you have decided to claim to be a Body Mage. You just want to get to safety and found a new town while there are still the necessary people to create a strong academic and economic community, where Law can reign once more.

Niklas started out as a paranoid activity scanner, but the book fixed him.
Spoiler Boy :
Name: Diamondeye
Role:Boy
Nationality: Kuriotates
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Everyone stronger than you dead
Ability: Votes against those stronger than you don't count, sorry.
Item: Pet Rock
Strength: 2 (2)
Gender: Male

You've grown up in the streets of Amure. Your family moved there for the “lower population density” and “greater economic opportunities”. That worked for a time: until the war started. They died when the first waves of demons hit the town, two years ago. During the seige you saw how things really worked, the strong always ended up making the decisions and with the real power. If you want to be safe from them you need to be as strong as them. You're too wise to challenge them outright, but you'll see those stronger than you dead. On the bright side, you found this nice pet rock on the way out of town. It makes you feel safe.

His Pet Rock was actually the Stone of Lugus, one of the Zealots Items, it made him immune to night kills. He was the only person with an ability that was actually a limitation. Sorry, DE.
Spoiler Diplomat :
Name:johnhughthom
Role: Diplomat
Nationality: Kuriotates
Race: Human
Alignment: Good
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Political Diversity: At least Six Nationalities survive
Ability: People Person. Each night, you can consider what you've seen of a person, and use it to decide whether or not they're a good person.
Item: Healing Herbs Can be used to heal one person once.
Strength: 1
Gender: Female
Before the outbreak of war, you were the ambassador from the Kuriotates to Amure. Now, you don't even know if the Kuriotates nation still exists. Regardless, a new chapter has begun in your life. So many people to meet and get to know. You have grand ideas for a new post war town, with no national divides; a town that is an example to the rest of the world. The need for a diplomat has never been greater. You brought some healing herbs when you fled the embassy, but those will run out soon.

Her ability was an optimistic alignment scan. Everyone read one closer to good. Two nights reading the book, like for every other problematic scan, would have fixed it to accurate.
Spoiler Druid :
Name:DrumStudent
Role:Druid
Nationality:Ljosalafar
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Balance:At least one person of each alignment survive
Ability: Ritual of Morality: Each night, you can determine someone's alignment.
Item: None
Strength: 1(1)
Gender: Male
You were driven into the city by the spread of war. Even though it kept you save the city was not your kind of place; you're glad to be out of it now. You know the fundamental truth that balance is necessary in this world. Even with the inconvenience the war was a wonderful example of this, the good Mercurians and the evil Infernals balanced until the netural Amurites eliminated all 3 returning the world to balance. This elegance must last wherever the refugees, without it the world will spin out of control. While threats must be wiped out this diversity of morals should also be maintained.

Accurate Alignment Scanner
Spoiler Innkeeper :
Name:landlubber
Role:Innkeeper
Nationality: Lanun
Race: Human
Alignment: Evil
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: See your wife dead.
Ability: Smooth Talker: If you're not in another relationship, you can enter one with any woman, and you'll learn more about her, though she may learn more about you
Married: Your wife is innocent. You hate her, but she's no threat to anything but your sanity.
Item: None
Strength: 2 (2)
Gender: Male
O for the good old days of piracy!! Your wife persuaded you that it would be more profitable to run an inn in Cevedes, and she was right, but you miss the sea. And you're sick of her, she had to be one of the survivors. But hey, refugee caravans are dangerous and maybe something will happen to her; mabye you can make something happen to her. And then, there are plenty of nice looking women in this group of refugees. Bluebeard was always your role model.

He was an instant mason with whoever he was involved with. Had he entered a relationship with kennigit, you guys would have certainly known the Zealots were bad.
Spoiler Innkeeper's Wife :
Name:Earthling
Role:Innkeeper's Wife
Nationality: Lanun
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Keep your husband alive.
Ability: Married: You know your husband, there's no way he's plotting against the Refugee Train.
Busy-body: Each night you can rummage through someone's stuff to figure out if they're plotting evil against the other Refugees
Item: Sword (Strength +1)
Strength: 1 (2)
Gender: Female
You had a good thing going back in Cevedes, now you're going to have to start over again. Ah well, you built the inn up from nothing there, and you and your husband can do it again wherever you settle. He might complain about boredom, but it's a good life, much more stable than piracy. He certainly wasn't cut out for it. He forgot to grab the sword on his way out. Good thing you did. But first to find those nasty Sheaim. Nothing and no one's going to stop you from rebuilding.

Random Guilt-Innocence Scanner, her only scan that she got off almost wrecked you all. The Sword was another one of the Lugus Items.
Spoiler Light Bringer :
Name:choxorn
Role:Lightbringer
Nationality: Malakim
Race: Human
Alignment: Good
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Hope: 3 Other Innocents Personal Objectives Fulfilled at End of Game
Ability: Counsel: Each night, you can talk to one person and discover what they most want (P.O.)
Item: None
Strength: 1(1)
Gender: Male

You came out of the desert to guide the faithful of Lugus, but it looks like they are not the only ones that can use your help. In these dark times people are so concerned with survival they don’t get a chance to do anything else. But other things are important, people need hope to continue, and you want to spread it. You feel called by Lugus to guide them through to safety, possibly back in your homeland. Hey this journey doesn’t have to be all bad, there is adventure and the chance of a better life.

Personal Objective Scanner
Spoiler Luonnatar :
Name:Stuck in Pi
Role:Luonnatar
Nationality: Hippus
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: At least 3 races survive.
Ability: Weapons Trainer: If both you and another person agree, you can improve their proficiency with a weapon they have, increasing their effective strength by one while they have that weapon. You can do this once for each weapon person combination
Item: Amulet: The holder of this amulet's vote breaks ties.
Strength: 2(2)
Gender: Male
Status: Plagued
You are a late comer to the one true faith. You had an epiphany when you found this amulet while looting a village, and you set down your weapons and moved to the city to try and spread the fundamental truth that there is One God that cares about everyone. That doesn't mean you've forgotten your military training. In fact by spreading your training you can spread the true faith. The faith includes everyone and you want them all there for this new town, or at least a variety. You aren’t good enough with words to convert anyone, but you still can show people by upholding the faith. It seems a test of your faith has come, in the form of a plauge that you have contracted. But if you believe (and find someone or something to cure it) you will endure.
The amulet was one of the Zealot Items. He was one of two players who started out plagued.
Spoiler Medic :
Role:Medic
Nationality: Elohim
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Brigand
Personal Objective: Your Masked Lover survives
Ability: Thief: Each day, when checking the corpse of the lynch victim, you may steal one of their items. You place this order during the following night, but it's actually a day ability.
Masked Lover: You have nightly rendezvous with your masked lover
Item: None
Strength: 2(2)
Gender: Male
You're not actually a medic, but you make a pretty convincing show of it. You are Elohim, or were. For the past few years, you've been the fence for a band of human and dwarven bandits. This could be the big robbery that really makes your name within the band.
You met her at a masked ball in the ending days of the siege. Your eyes met across the room, and it was love, or at least lust at first sight. You've met each other frequently since then, never removing the masks. After all, they add to the excitement. In the rush to evacuate the city, you caught a glimpse of her mask in the luggage train. You slipped a note into her bag, agreeing where to rendezvous in relation to the refugee camp tonight. She doesn't know who you are or your profession, but she amuses. You'd rather she survive.

He had the option of stealing each item on a lynched individual. In addition, if neither he nor Winston Hughes was blocked or dead on any given night, they were both protected from most kills.
Spoiler Mercenary :
Name: Secura
Role:Mercenary
Nationality: Hippus
Race: Diseased Corpse
Alignment: Evil
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Infect someone opposed to the refugees.
Ability: Plague Bearer: Every other night, you must spread your plague to someone new. They will then slowly sicken and die without treatment.
Item: None
Strength: 3(3)
Gender: Male
You are undead, but that doesn't mean you're not just as smart as the next guy. You deserted a Calabim Army years ago and have made a good undeath serving as part of a Hippus Mercenary band. You were hired by the Amurites to help protect Cevedes, although you fear that towards the end, your diseased state harmed things more than your combat skills helped. As you travel, you know you will spread the disease to others. Already, the vicar and the luonnatar have fallen ill. But perhaps your diseased nature can help the train more than it hurts it.

Our primary plaguing instrument. In Infernal lands, her plaguing was optional, and she could do it every night.
Spoiler Merchant :
Name:krill
Role:Merchant
Nationality: Khazad
Race: Dwarf
Alignment: Evil
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Replenish Supply: Own three items at end of the game.
Ability: Acquisitive Curiosity: Each night, you can go through someone's possessions. You're no thief, you won't take anything, but you'll check if they have anything of interest, maybe it will prove relevant later.
Item: Vial of Poison (Single Use Night Kill)
Strength: 2(2)
Gender: Female
You've bought and sold for years in Cevedes. There was always a market for almost anything, and you did a thriving trade. You sold most of your stock at ridiculous prices during the siege, and now all you have left is this one vial of poison. The money is good, but you could get even more of a jump start if you had some wares as well when you set up shop again. Maybe someone on the train has something interesting. You’ll have to find out. Oh, and then convince them to give it to you.
Item Scanner. He used the poison to kill Winston Hughes.
Spoiler Metamagic Mage :
Name:askthepizzaguy
Role:Metamagic Mage
Nationality: Amurite
Race: Human
Alignment: Good
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: At least one other mage survives.
Ability: Connection: Each night you can reach out and discover what actions another takes.
Item: Book: This Book is all that remains of the libraries of Amure. It contains great wisdom. 2 nights of study instead of other action will improve your abilities.
Strength: 1(1)
Gender: Male
You are a mage of Amure. Or were, I guess, now that Amure's gone. You were a great researching on the inter-connectedness of all things and spent your days in the Great Library. When the announcement of evacuation was made, you were horrified to discover that the librarians refused to evacuate the books. You therefore were able to only smuggle out one book. You haven't had the chance to read it in depth yet, but it seems to contain some great truths, including some about the very nature of magic. You want to keep another mage alive, because without one, there's nothing for you to be meta about.
The Book improved almost every person's abilities with two nights of study. He began with what I choose to call a disjoint scan. He could read one person each night for what they were doing and to whom, but kills read as scans, scans read as blocks, blocks read as protects, and protects read as kills. So a scan of Methos would have said that he was trying to protect and kill the same person. He used the book the first two nights. If I had it to do over, Body Mage would have started with the book instead of him. The Book was also a Zealot Item. Also, he probably had the easiest P.O., since I was alive and was highly unlikely to die.
Spoiler Midshipman :
Name:Nictel
Role:Midshipman
Nationality: Lanun (really Sidar)
Race: Shade
Alignment: Evil
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: All good characters die
Ability: Fade Away: You cannot be lynched. When others go to lynch you, you simply won't be there.
Item: Bow (+1 strength)
Strength: 1(2)
Gender: Male
You have roamed this world for decades, trying your hand at many things. For the past five years, you have been a midshipman on a Lanun boat. It was hit by a stray catapult boulder and sunk with all hands aboard. All hands, that is, except for you. You made it ashore, only to discover that Cevedes was being evacuated. You've joined this train. Perhaps a new career is in order. That will be a nice variety. The problem is that so many of them have these morals and might cramp your outlook on life and personal style.

Not much to say here. One of two people who died of the plague.
Spoiler Miner :
Name:civplayah
Role:Miner
Nationality: Khazad
Race: Dwarf
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Brigand]
Personal Objective: Merchant survives
Ability: Impatient Anger: Each night, you can go out and try to kill someone with your bare hands. You're not that strong, but in your angry state, you will not be injured by failure no matter what.
Item: Bat Guano
Strength: 2 (2)
Gender: Male
You used to be a miner, but that didn't pay well enough, so you joined a band of brigands. You infiltrated the city with the bandit leader and your front man. When it became clear that the city would fall, you made a plan to bring in your comrades and overrun the refugee train. It's a good plan, there's just one problem. It involves waiting. You hate waiting. So you'll head out and make some ruckus each night. The merchant must have a good amount of loot on him and he’s not likely to get any poorer with his skill. But again, you need to wait, if he dies to early this group is likely to spread out the wealth, and it is so much easier if you only have to take it off of one corpse.

Strength killer, but not that strong. Only one successful kill before he died.
Spoiler :
Name:Renata
Role:Monk
Nationality: Elohim
Race: Human
Alignment: Good
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Waif Survives
Secondary: Return to Elohim
Ability/Item: Vow of Poverty: You have taken a vow of Poverty, and therefore may not own anything except for your robes. However, this spiritual purity makes you strong and decisive. You will not fall ill, and nothing will impede your going into a trance each night and discovering the talents of another in the train.
Strength: 2(2)
Gender: Male
You came to Amure as a favour to a local noble family. Their daughter had run off to find adventure in the big city, and they want her to come home. Well, she sure got plenty of that in Cevedes. You'd like to get back to Elohim land as soon as possible, but first of all, you have to keep her alive. You're sure you can persuade her to come back home given time.

Unblockable ability scanner. Methos tried to block her the first night.
Spoiler Chieftain :
Name:CCRunner
Role:Chieftain
Nationality: Clan of Embers
Race: Orc
Alignment: Good
Victory: Zealots of Lugus
Personal Objective: Acquire the Sword
Secondary: Convert your colleague the Spearman
Ability: Brute Strength. Each day you can attempt to kill someone at the next write-up. It will be clear that it was you who did it.
Item: None
Strength: 4(4)
Gender: Male
You came to Cevedes with your friend the Spearman. You'd been mercenaries for many years, serving the highest bidder. You took the dirtiest parts of every job and did many things you were not proud of. Any semblance of a conscience in you had died. Or so you thought. Then you met the Priestess of Lugus, and everything changed. She showed you the light, quite literally. From the depths of the darkness of immorality, she raised you to the peak of goodness. You wish that your friend could join you in this clarity, but you fear that, not having sunk to the same depths, he will not be as easily redeemable. The only thing you want more than spreading the true word to him is to wield the Sword of Lugus yourself.

Public strength-based Day killer.

Spoiler Spearman :
Name: Methos
Role:Spearman
Nationality: Clan of Embers
Race: Orc
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Another member of the Clan of Embers survives.
Ability: Card Player. Each night, you can visit somebody else and insist that they play Somnium with you all night long. They won't be able to do anything else, but nothing bad will happen to them while your playing cards.
Item: Spear (+1 strength)
Strength: 3(4)
Gender: Male
You've been a mercenary for years. You and your comrade and leader the Chieftain have been the dominant name in hit jobs and protection for quite some time. Now you're part of the train, and are going to keep them safe pro bono. You've developed a passion for the game of Somnium, and intend to indulge it while protecting them. You'd like it if at least one other member of the Clan of Embers survived, as you might not feel too welcome and more than a little bit lonely if you were the only Clansman in the new settlement.
Probably my favorite character in execution. His Somnium game blocks were a joy to write.
Spoiler Priest of Leaves :
Name:Zack
Role:Priest of Leaves
Nationality: Ljosalafar
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Cure 2 people
Ability: Wisdom of the Woods: Every night, you can cure someone of disease and/or injury
Item: None
Strength: 1(1)
Gender: Male
You are the true physician here, not some jumped-up city slicker ! You'll prove it. There's bound to be some sickness and injury on this hard a journey. You'd like to cure at least two people to prove that you're the best in the business and, of course, demonstrate the true power of the Fellowship of Leaves. Lets see some army medic do that!

Achieved his P.O. and much much more.
Spoiler Priestess of Sirona :
Name:Sepuku
Role:Priestess of Sirona
Nationality: Amurite
Race: Human
Alignment: Good
Victory: Zealots of Lugus
Personal Objective: Acquire the Book
Ability: Persuasive Conversation: Every other night, starting night 2, you can attempt to persuade someone of the rightness of your cause, using words and the power of your god.
Item: None
Strength: 1(1)
Gender: Female
You are actually a Priestess of Lugus, here to spread the truth to everyone. You know that not everyone will accept the light easily so you have disguised yourself as a Priestess of Sirona, the Goddess of Wisdom and Patron Goddess of the Amurites. You will go among the sinners as one of them and spread the truth. The Chieftain was your first convert to the way of truth last night. Your proselytizing is not perfect yet, and it is only the worst sinners who have enough guilt to see the light right now. One of the items you seek, a Book of Lugus, may help you be more …. “persuasive"
Began only being able to convert Evil non-mafia players. Once she had the book, she could convert neutral non-mafia players as well. Tried for Methos once and then Winston Hughes once.
Spoiler Radiant Guard :
Name:
Role:Radiant Guard
Nationality: Amurite
Race: Human
Alignment: Good
Victory: Zealots of Lugus
Personal Objective: Start the lynch against two people who don't have the best interests of the train at heart.
Ability: Clairvoyance: Each night you can look into your shield and discover the intentions of someone else in the refugee train with respect to the whole.
Item: None
Strength: 2(2)
Gender: Male
You are one of the Radiant Guard, the protectors of the Malakim, the chosen people of Lugus. But you feel that the Malakim government is not doing enough to spread the light to the rest of the world. Therefore, you have formed a clandestine organization known as the Zealots of Lugus to spread the truth more actively. The Priestess of Sirona and now the Chieftain have joined your cause. This caravan will be an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the rightness of your methods. You will root out and destroy those who intend evil against the refugees. Not like you, you intend to improve them. They just need to see the light.

Accurate Guilt-Innocence Scanner. Hit scum first two nights.
Spoiler Satyr :
Name: PaulusIII
Role:Satyr
Nationality: Ljosalafar
Race: Angel
Alignment: Good
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: At least two religious figures survive
Ability: Military Legacy: Each night, you must go out and attempt to kill someone.
Item: Leafy Herbs
Strength: 5(5)
Gender: Male
For an eternity, you were an angel of Sucellus, a strong servant in his army, not far behind Cernunnos. Then Sucellus fell in combat with Mulcarn, and Basium's call to action became too great to resist. You had been knocked back by a Balor when you felt your comrades fall and the Balor too. Spotting the nearby wagons, you scooped up a nearby plant and approached. You look enough like the sons of Cernunnos to pass as one, so you did. Overhearing others conversation, it became clear that your partners-in-arms were dead. You have no reason to fight any more. But the instinct remains. For now, the only thing to do is see these mortals through their troubles. It will be easier for you to start anew if some of the mortal agents of the gods survive.
A Bloodthirsty Vig. He switched his order on the last night from killing a Zealot to wrecking his P.O.
Spoiler Scout :
Name:merciary
Role:Scout
Nationality: Malakim
Race: Elf
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Return to the desert
Ability: Scout Every three days, the group will reach a crossroads. You, scouting ahead, can explore down one of them. You will receive some information about that route, and can use that to help inform the party's decision. This is a day ability. Send it in during the first half of the day, and you will get your scouting result at or shortly before the midday update.
Item: Telescope: Enables your ability
Strength: 1(1)
Gender: Female
You are that rare thing, a desert elf. One of your ancestors was a member of the blinded warband that came after Varn Gosam. You have honed your scouting abilities and were sent to aid the Amurites. Too late, it seems. Now, your duty is to help these refugees find a new home, but you'd really like to go home. Perhaps these desires can be reconciled?

Spoiler Shaman :
Name:TLO36
Role:Shaman
Nationality: Clan of Embers
Race: Human
Alignment: Evil
Victory: Refugee
Personal Objective: Luonnatar Dead
Ability: Renaissance Man: Many items are better in your hands, you must vote all items to yourself
Item: Flowering Herbs
Strength: 2(2)
Gender: Male
You grew up among the Clan of Embers. It was a hard life, but it trained you well to work with whatever you have. Needless to say, since you can make better use of items, you should have them. You've worked as a scout, you've worked as a guide. You'll see everyone through. Except for that heretic, the Luonnatar. One god, that's ridiculous. The world is dominated by conflict. It might be better if he suffered an “accident”.

He could use every strength item for +2 and could use several of the components of the apothecary's potions for the potion's full effect. Never showed. Died right before I was going to WOG him.
Spoiler Treasurer :
Name:Omega124
Role:Treasurer
Nationality: Khazad (actually Luchuirp)
Race: Dwarf
Alignment: Neutral
Victory: Brigands
Personal Objective: Miner Survive
Ability: Micro-Golems: Each night, you can send out a mini-golem to determine if someone is active at night.
Strength: 2(2)
Gender: Female
You are one of the last of the Luchuirp. You fled Luchuirp shortly before it was overrun by the Mercurians. You fell in with a band of brigands, where your talents at making small golems earned you a place. The judicious use of your talents to … dispose of your rivals enabled you to swiftly rise to the leadership. But this could be the big one. You and two of your lieutenants have infiltrated this refugee train, yourself disguised as a khazad banker/treasurer. You were only able to sneak in a few of your simplest golems, which look like mice, but they make useful spies. They're fairly crude, so they won't tell you what your target was doing. You'd like to keep the miner alive. His rage is convenient in heading off challenges to your authority before you have to kill them.

Yes-no activity scanner. Killed first night by Satyr.

You fought in the wars for many years, but you're sick of it. War breeds only destruction. And so do warriors. You'll die soon enough, but others won't. You'll see the refugee train through to safety, but it's better for all concerned if the warriors die along the way.
Initially the only innocent accurate Guilt-Innocence scanner. Your first lynch choice.

You had heard disturbing rumors about others misusing Lugus' name, here in the city. You therefore came to the city, at great risk, to restore his good name. Regrettably, shortly after arriving, the city was evacuated and you fell ill. If you don't receive treatment soon, you'll die. The physical plague must be eradicated at the source just as much as the spiritual plague.

Every three days, without treatment, you will lose one base strength. If your base strength reaches zero, you will die.

Item: Knife:One time day kill
Strength: 1(1)
Gender: Female
Sure, Elohim was safe, but it was so booooring. That's why you ran away to the big city. Your parents sent a monk to bring you home, but he won't force you, and it's so much more exciting out in the real world. First the siege, and then, him.
You met him at a masked ball in the ending days of the siege. Your eyes met across the room, and it was love at first sight. You've met each other frequently since then, never removing the masks. After all, they add to the excitement. As you were evacuating the city, you found a note in your bag, saying where in the camp you'd meet that night as well. It seems the fun will go on. You'll keep meeting him. After all, Daddy always said that it was safer to be with someone else at night, right?

Item: Cow's Heart
Strength: 1(1)
Gender: Male
You left Kuriotates to get away from all these non-humans! And now they're all around you. Some of them are even coming with your refugee group. If they want to flee the city they can flee like animals, but if you are going to settle a new town then it should be a human town. These non-humans, they have to go. Whats worse, you bet some of the humans are actually disguised non-humans. What a crime! That shows that humans are better, you don’t see any humans wishing they were something else. Well, you'll find them, whether or not they show their faces, and you'll seem them slaughtered, like you slaughtered your cow before leaving town. The meat was tasty, but now all that's left is the heart, you’re not sure what use it is.

Racial Scan.

Spoiler Sheaim Role and Team PM :

Sheaim Infiltrator PM

Important!!!! Do not message your allies!!!!! Read all of PM first!!!!! Message me with any questions!!!!!!
Victory Condition: Total Destruction: Overpower the rest of the Caravan.
You are the Sheaim, out to bring about the end of the world. It was coming along so nicely, until the Amurites threw a monkey wrench into the works with their blasted mind-bomb, removing the instigators of war. You joined this wagon train to survive and continue to promote the end of the world. There's no way it will make it's destination. However, something … unexpected has happened. When the mind mage shielded the group, he went comatose and encountered your minds. Everything you say is now know by him and repeated, so you cannot communicate privately with each other. Here is the quicktopic for his mind, which you may use, but the innocents can read: http://www.quicktopic.com/44/H/GMAMvHDYNYts
However, there is good news. Each night one of you, instead of using your own powers, can take over his powers and use them to kill someone. Alternatively, on any one night, two of you can go after his comatose body and end his life. This might free your minds, but you won’t be able to use his powers any more.

Name: Owen Glyndwr/Civgeneral
Role:Fire Mage
Nationality: Amurite (actually Sheaim)
Race: Human
Alignment: Evil
Victory: Sheaim Infiltrator
Personal Objective: Shaman or Boy Survives
Ability: Mobius Strip: Each night, you can trap someone else on an endless loop preventing them from doing anything else
Item: None
Strength: 2(2)
Gender: Female
You are actually a Mobius Witch. You are beyond the comprehension of all humanity. Simple worldviews amuse you. Those possessing them last longer before they finally break. You'd like someone with a simple worldview to play with at the end of all this. You are codenamed Gamma in the Quicktopic.

Luring the train into the desolation that was Infernal land, might be wise, but it would be very bad if they made it to the refuge of the Elohim. Choose wisely, and please, message me if you have any questions!

Plagued by inactivity, and my most experimental team, they never the less made a decent bid at victory. Thank you very much, guys.
Spoiler Zealots of Lugus Team PM :
Zealots of Lugus Team PM
You are the Zealots of Lugus! Not content with the traditional methods, you will spread the light of Lugus to the world, whether they like it or not! It's for their own good. In order to do so, you must acquire the requisite items to perform the Rite of Lugus, which are any three of the Book of Lugus, the Stone of Lugus, the Amulet of Lugus, and the Sword of Lugus. Others may not recognize them for the holy relics they are, but you will. Their power will cleanse the people of their sin, and usher in a new day of eternal light.
You are dedicated to the truth, and it reflects in your abilities.
The founder of your movement is the Radiant Guard. He can detect threats to the well-being of the train and came to Amure seeking allies, where he met the Priestess of Lugus, now disguised as a devotee of Sirona, who showed the truth to the Chieftain, and will continue to try to spread it with only a small amount of compulsion to others. The Chieftain will use his strength to strike down those who stand in your way, but he will not hide his actions. May the cause of Right and Truth prevail!

Summary of VC: Acquire any three of the Book of Lugus, the Stone of Lugus, the Amulet of Lugus, and the Sword of Lugus, or overrun the party

An item team that could only get items by having them given to them, with only a public kill ability. They had to play innocent, and they did that very well.
Spoiler Brigand Team PM :
Brigands Team PM
You are the leaders of a band of ruthless men and dwarves, brigands all. You want to lure the refugees into the caves, where your band is based. In nine days, you expect your band to be in place to strike, although circumstances may lengthen or shorten that time.
You are led by the cunning Luchuirp Treasurer. She concocted this plan, and his golems will help you track those who might foil your plans.
His right-hand dwarf is the miner. The Miner is a ruthless enforcer, who can strike swiftly to pick off the weak before your band even arrives.
Finally, you have your fence, the “Medic”. Off of the corpses of those slain by the masses, he will make a tidy profit in these times of distrust.

Summary of VC: Survive approximately nine days. This number may change depending on how many of you are still alive and other factors.

Started out winning morning of Day 10. One day was added for going into Infernal land, and another day was added each time one of them died. They could have won theoretically as early as morning of Day 8.

I learned a lot creating and running this game. For one thing, it's really tough trying to have 2 people co-run a game. My congrats to Zack and Choxorn for doing such a good job with Star Wars Mafia. Please post if you have any questions/comments about the game.

It was so crippling being unable to talk with my ally that everything revealed to me really was impossible to share with my allies. It's not that we were inactive; it's just that there was little to talk about other than "I'll use the kill tonight" or "random propaganda"

I was initially Alpha, but then as soon as Seon died I decided to start posting as Beta just to throw people off.

He did a similar thing when I was "teammates" with him in TFA's NOTW. He had a full scan ability he never revealed to J-man and me, nor used. I don't get it.

To be fair, we knew he was inactive like Day 3, in fact, I pointed this out and tried to get him lynched.

The game was great overall though, always way more depth than anyone saw during play revealed in those role PMs. I would not say it was imbalanced, so much as good play by the mafia, and horrible play by the Innocents overall. Certainly the Zealots didn't appear to be particularly stronger than the other mafia though. And the Innocents had huge raw numbers and apparently if things had worked out better and people had their abilities "fixed" things could have gone very differently. In fact, wideyed being a vig really surprised me, I figured he was killed people but that he was just the last bandit, or maybe there were four bandits.

Initially the only innocent accurate Guilt-Innocence scanner. Your first lynch choice.

Yeah, sorry remake. Made worse by the fact that CCRunner really was a mafia too.

Accurate Guilt-Innocence Scanner. Hit scum first two nights.

This is possibly the one thing making the Zealots a bit more powerful, though really I think the Sheiam were pretty solid too. Bandits had it rough, especially with one dead the first night. Well played though Takhisis, just know that I'm not letting you get away with being Mafia four times in a row in the next one ;)

Got cured, then replagued and died of the plague.

This was the funniest/best thing of the entire game, could hardly write comedy like that if you tried. Sorry it happened that way but still awesome.

Oh - Bad Player stealing stuff from the dead is really cool though, and fits perfectly for the bandits, and explains some confusing stuff.

I finally kinda see the point of the quicktopic for the Sheiam - all along it was that they couldn't contact each other privately. Certainly also threw people off in believing the Sheiam were the main mafia faction. Otherwise, they didn't use it and didn't appear like they had to - they kept sending in kills and abilities and whatever regardless it seemed, maybe because CivG was inactive and the others called the shots. I did find it really funny how civplayah, who was not a Sheiam, got killed for being associated with the Seon/Renata debacle.

I liked the total list of people voting against me when I died being almost every mafia in the game though. Figured when about 10 people knew I was a scanner they wouldn't be trying to lynch me, but like 8/10 were mafia :( Also, I want to thank landlubber for a well-played game. Figured he must have had a lot of work to do for the Innocents (Autolycus, are there any others QTs?) and was put in a rough spot, at least survived a while and tried to make a go of things. I was hoping he would have been converted to the Zealots so I would achieve my personal goal even with a refugee loss. Wait....you sly scurvy dog. Just saw his PM, he wanted me dead! That really explains why you went off telling people we were masons or something when I asked you not to, and didn't back me up on being a scanner. So frustrating...not as much as the failed scans though, I scanned two mafia and got failed scan + roleblock by Methos, who apparently liked to roleblock scanners.

I knew the Caves were the very worst option too, and as expected/totally mentioned by others, we were right about going to the Elohim. Anything else surprising about how the travels would have gone?

Also, Romanichine - I would have given you the sword too, landlubber and I determined we didn't really need it early on. Diamondeye begging for a weapon for not much good reason (but boy we were lucky the Zealots didn't notice him talking about the Rock/Stone earlier) didn't go well with me. But I guess landlubber would have given it to you in the end anyway, sorry that didn't work out. I'm surprised by how many people got vig-kills activated and more specifically a few kills I thought were bandits/Sheiam were actually vigs.

Last thing - hope the "two GMs" part worked out, Autolycus and jd6, as you mentioned that. You did a really good job, just don't know how complicated that got behind the scenes. Also thanks for me not being an elf at least.

Yes, I was the nasty plaguebearer, basically a town-aligned vigilante that didn't kill immediately but over the course of a few days. I knew that everyone wouldn't want to leave me alive if they were aware of my identity, especially as I couldn't be cured, but I did reveal to one person; Romanichine, who actually selected my final infection target (CivGeneral), thus fulfilling my personal goal right at the last... so thanks. xD

Overall I only got to use my ability four times, whereby I picked Nictel, Renata (though she was murdered the same night), Methos and CivGeneral... as well as Stuck in Pi and link16 who began the game infected without my choosing.

The sudden ending was a surprise, certainly, but to be fair to myself, I don't know the source material; saying 'Zealots of Lugas' isn't going to make me think "oh yes, they're evil" compared to saying 'Cosa Nostra' or 'Galactic Empire'. I simply thought that they were a neutral faction, and that the sheaim and bandits were the two mafia factions; I suppose the name colours threw me off a little.

Their item-related goal seems a bit... I dunno. Would Diamondeye have traded away his rock if he knew that it offered immunity to night kills? By giving such an item to him and then making his goal to wield a weapon or whatnot, it was a no-brainer for him to make the trade; was there any way to find out what the rock did? Did you never wonder why they wanted the rock to begin with, DE?

The source material is a little deceptive as well. Lugus is traditionally a good God. They're just bypassing free will to spread his glory. I wanted scum in all three alignments, and coming up with a "good" scum team was tough.

Winston, you had a knife and never trusted me with it. I'm shocked. That might have changed the game, who knows? All these talks we had about forging materials, telling me to keep looking while you were hiding one from me :(

Of course I didn't give you the knife. Apart from it being rather foolish to give away a killing ability to someone who isn't proven innocent, I was determined to keep it aside for a very particular purpose - taking down a villain who the mob would or could not deal with in the conventional manner.

I seriously considered killing CCRunner the day before I died, but decided to wait for more evidence. That evidence did show up in the morning, I think, what with Kennigit being in possession of a book which I believe Niklas had given to CCRunner (is that right?). But by then Krill had decided to vigilante kill me for breaking ranks with the CCRunner love-in.

Did you never wonder why they wanted the rock to begin with, DE?
He did... I told him it was my personal goal to get the "Sacred Stone" or something like that :)
what with Kennigit being in possession of a book which I believe Niklas had given to CCRunner (is that right?)
Yep  I was actually worried when I got to that part in the thread, but then both you and Niklas died and it was all good again
