NPR fires Juan Williams.

NPR dedicated an hour of on the air time with a conservative panelist and call ins from all sides to discuss the issue.

What other 'fair and balanced' news organization would have done that?

Broadcasting from their flagship station W-CYA. :mischief:

They are hardly going away. Even if all government support were taken away, that's only 2% of revenue. Now Fox would fold without all the subsidies it gets.

Wow, adding conservative panelists? All for trying something new are they?

What other 'fair and balanced' news organization would have done that?

I see liberals offering counter-argument on Foxnews all the time. Don't you?

The far-right can't very well complain about the ethics of any news media organization while their chief provider of propaganda, sensationalism, and deliberate distortion is still in business.
You may not have noticed through the frothing at the mouth over Fox, that my posts have largely dealt with NPR not upholding the code of ethical behavior they claimed as the reason for firing Mr. Williams. Fox has nothing to do with NPR's hypocrisy on this point. You sound like the Chinese government every time a human rights report is released.

Random thought:
You know, I would like to see how Fox reacts if they have an actualy socialist on a show as a commentator.

While you and the other ultraconservatives "froth at the mouth" over NPR? Complaining about the supposed ethics violations of NPR while ignoring those of Fox News is an incredibly hypocritical perspective.

And NPR obviously did uphold their code of ethical behavior, unless you actually think news analysts can spew bigoted nonsense when they appear on Fox News multiple times and not be held accountable, especially after specifically being warned to stop doing so.

And trying to portray this episode as not having anything to do with Fox News is disingenuous at best. If it wasn't for their "fair and balanced" reactionary propaganda mill and their ongoing highly partisan crusade against NPR, none of this would have taken place, much less blown all out of proportion for quite obvious political reasons.

The only thing this matter really has to do with ethics is a complete lack thereof by Fox News.

Not to mention getting interrupted every 5 seconds.

Exactly. When ever a liberal is making a good point or winning Fox cuts their mic off or turns down their volume so that their right wing talking head can just shout over them. It is without a doubt a massive right wing propaganda outlet which is dishonest and unfair. Another favorite tactic of Fox is to find the most out there extremist loon and then claim that person represents mainstream Democratic thought. For example they love to find people from the American communist party and put them on the panel claiming they represent all people who are to the left of the neo-fascist Republicans as if that 0.00001% represented the entire 50% of the population which is to the left of the Republicans.

My what an outrageous claim. Honestly, I have never seen this done on Fox. I think someones making more out of a situation than is really there...

Why I dont think I have ever even seen someone from the American communist party on Fox before, let alone anything like you just describe here occur. Wow.

Considering they believe the European Right of Center Liberal Model is socialism, I wouldn't put it past Fox News.

@Civvers clip:
Impressive. Beck was far more polite than I would have thought.

Forty years! Your family must be so proud!

America. Listen to this man. He just gave a speech in Cleveland, Ohio ... and you said ... you talked about how the Communist Agenda is being fulfilled by Barack Obama!

I said the president represents something quite different than what we have had for the past 8 years.

Let's be specific here. You said not only was he a friend but an ally!

I don't think I said that.

I said he was a people's advocate.

I'm judging NPR by the standard of behavior they decided to claim for themselves. Fox News as far as I can tell hasn't claimed NPR's code of ethics for themselves.

History says yes. Nina is still employed after all. In fact the only real problem here seems to be the fact he said something you find offensive on Fox News.

As for the bigoted part of your comment: http://www.slate.com/id/2271931/?from=rss

Obviously not! They had every reason to fire that prejudiced fool for his numerous apperances on Fox News where he made sensational remarks to bolster they ratings amongst the bigoted Geritol set.

What? That the interview was clipped at some sources? It certainly wasn't taken out of context as a result. Comparing him to the the railroad job of Shirley Sherrod is patently absurd. They really have nothing in common. Shirley was referring to an incident that happened long ago in her past where she went on to explain how she had changed since then. Williams did nothing of the sort.

According to the article, he even supports the "WTC Mosque" nonsense. I'm sure he will be much happier at Fox News surrounded by likeminded people. Let's just hope he can continue to make sensationalistic remarks on the O'Reilly show to justify is $2M package. Otherwise, he may very well be fired like so many not-very-liberals in the past.

But speaking of Shirley Sharrod, do you defend the witch hunt of her which largely occurred on Fox News? Or do you think it was yet another despicable act of partisan propagandizing which is so prevalent with them?

What an absolute dick.

You mean that commie? Two thumbs up to Glenn Beck for taking on these commie idiots in our country. It's appalling that people aren't even offended by the very idea of a communist USA these days.

I'm actualy dissapointed in Beck. Considering how polite he was to the DemSoc guy, I was expecting better out of him.
I'm also dissapointed in the CPUSA guy. He didn't point out Stalin is to Socialism as Pinochet is to Capitalism. He also didn't point out there cannot be a communist state.
