Nubia livestream collateral thread

Here's the Assyria icon from the stream. It's actually not identical to the one in Civ V.

Also while I'm at it, here's the unique holy site visuals for the scenario:

The plot thickens... :goodjob:
I mean its no more than the Ottoman's from the earlier scenario.

A likely civ but not necessarily anytime soon.

There seem to be a great many references to the 90's Mummy movie in this scenario... they are talking about the Scorpion King at the moment which I didn't think was a real historical thing? But there was a character played by the Rock in that movie called the Scorpion King? :mischief:

I am sure they are referencing the movie (There are actually 4 of them staring The Rock, Ron Pearlman, and Lou Ferringo!), but yes there was a historical Scorpion King, in fact there were 2 of them.

A restart button for what?

One commonly expressed frustration is that the game did not provide an easy way to roll a new map with the same settings as your current game (e.g., Small Island Plates map with extra opponents and various advanced set up options), thereby requiring you to re-select all of those same game setup options every time. The addition of a restart button/option is likely to be popular, depending on how it works and which settings it preserves.

It looks like the Wonder is at Ironworking. They show Ironworking between 20-21 minutes in.

Ah, thanks. Yes, that is a frustration of mine as well. I wanted the customized settings to be saved, but I guess a reroll is welcome as well.

Good spot for a wonder!

What was the scenario about?
You have to pick either Nubia (Amanitore (spelled it right, yes!)) or Egypt (Cleopatra) and you have to build seven temples of Amun before your opponent. Time limit is 125 turns. There are several different scenario only city-states and sometimes, foreign invaders like Asyria or Macedon will attack.

I have to say, I like how they made the river Nile in that scenario.

Will the livestream be available for later watching, and if so, when? Even after the DLC is released I'd like to see the livestream. :)

I'm liking this scenario. Normally I don't play scenarios, since I find them a bit restricted in their rules, but the rules and the customized art that this scenario has makes me impatient for DLC05.

Cheers, thanks! Somehow didn't see it in this thread (if it was indeed linked earlier).

They didn't even play, really.

TBH when they did an entire play through of the Outback Tycoon it pretty much took all the fun out of playing it. Yes, the map is "scrambled" (i.e. randomised) but it's pretty much the same as the Twitch play through.

Same with Conquest of Alexander.

So I'm glad they're letting us play it and discover it instead

Just watched the scenario; I'm impressed!

They really do seem to be taking a lot of care with the scenarios in Civ VI. I can't wait to play! Nice attention to detail, and with the random invasions - more detail than I expected.

No release date beyond Soon TM, which is odd considering we're assuming it's coming out tomorrow... hopefully the wait won't be too much longer.

I like the fact that the Hyksos are represented in-game. City-States are a nice touch too, though some are unfamiliar to me (like the one all the way down in the south, Irem). On is probably meant to represent Heliopolis, the closest Egyptian city to the Giza Pyramids.

It is; it's the Biblical name equivalent of Iwnw or Iunu which might have been pronounced as Awanu in Late Egyptian.

There are two pre-dynastic Pharaohs named Scorpion, Scoprion II is thought to be a contemporary of Narmer and could either be an alternate name for Narmer (Bernadette Menu) or the chief rival of Narmer (Toby Wilkinson).

Forgive the history geekage, but it is my nature and profession.
