Respect?
So I guess when Obama offers the Saudi King a glass of whiskey and pork chops, he will respect his culture and drink/eat what he's been given?
Bowing to some autocratic fundamentalist pig is not really something any Westerner should do, much less when he's the US president.
Saying something over and over again doesn't make it true. You compared the bowing to an aspect of Saudi culture that is Islamic in nature and origin. I then brought up Christianity.
The American President is not in charge of a global supreme dictatorship either.
If he bows deeply but carries a big stick I for one will not hold it against him.
Because he bowed, he's educated and respectful? Finally an educated and respectful president.
If I was in charge, I'd definately want people to think I'm soft. So when crunch times come they'll be more surprised. Like Dachs said, he can be soft and carry a big stick..
I'm not saying he should act like a sissy. If other countries are basing their plans on an assumption that he will fold, I don't see how this is a bad thing for Obama. A minor crisis would be a good way for him to assert his power. I can't see any major crisis happening like Cuba and JFK.
Considering that, as I said earlier, everyone bows to Japanese officials - who don't always bow back, though they they usually will - including US heads of state, I'm guessing no.Would anyone give a flying frick if he had bowed to some non-Muslim ruler? For some reason I doubt it.
Ok, this thread goes to the top. DUMBEST THREAD OF 2009!
You guys had to beat out horseporn, cheap nike shoes, pannonius, and anarcho-capitalism but you found a way. Be proud.
This is such a pointless thread.
And it even got to 5 pages.
