This aint fertilizer
@CavLancer: yes we have seen this and this was part of the initial reasons to split the two - though the effect was not unequivocally positive for the "serious" threads in the chamber.
Thank you ori. :b:
Yes, its a pickle. Divide the serious threads off and they don't get the exposure though they last a really long time. Mix them in and they get tons of exposure for a day or two or even a few days after which they disappear.
I had the same idea when spam was over the top at WPC, split the OT. While spam isn't as bad here as it was there for a while as moderators are allowed to moderate and they're not the ones spamming, we were losing posters who didn't appreciate getting their threads buried. The forum #s were up because the spammers were running wild at the same time the # of posters fell. That's what happened at Poly when they turned the trolls loose. Lost a lot of folks, myself included. While that's not proposed here, spam is controlled, red diamonds will still drop as was the original problem because of limited interest in serious topics. There is no limit to people BSing and having a good time which is mostly what you have now. That's going to cause some problems and people wanting to talk seriously about something will find their red diamond buried by non red diamond threads, guaranteed.
So, you will be faced with what you had before, a need to tighten down on those who are having a good time, and who wants that? You end up being pressured into over the top moderation.
Better what you got, imo. Try some sort of serious discussion incentive. Maybe mix in History and make a History/Serious discussion forum. They seem to fit better than mixing back in the Tavern. I've been in plenty of taverns, serious discussion happens elsewhere.

Here's an idea that might work: Right now in order to get to the Tavern people have to go though "The Colosseum" which sounds great but is really nothing. So, make them go through the Chamber to get to the Tavern. Is that even possible?
