I completely agree with you about Slavery, although I think you should whip more
. But we can avoid the Random Event without having to abandon Slavery. You just have to avoid the other prereq. I know there is a time when you simply can't let all your cities to be under 3 pop points, which you've probably already reached, but while it isn't so bad to let them like this, it's actually great because you can completely avoid that Random Event and whip at will
.
Comments on Episode 3:
Why Guerilla is useless? It can make even stronger defenders for Hilled cities (combining City Garrison and Guerilla). Not only that, but Double Movement on Hills with Guerilla II is a great trait. Especially in defensive units. It helps secure vantage points in war. And if all of this isn't enough, Guerilla III gives attack on Hills and +50% Withdrawal, which can be combined with Flank I + II for +80% Withdrawal. I believe there are units that can get both promotion lines in vanilla BtS, but if not there is always the Great General promotion that gives +30% Withdrawal, which already sums with Guerilla III to 80%.
Your militaristic focus is actually what can really make a difference for your empire, because I think you have slowed a bit in micromanaging. The worker was cancelled and you lost hammers on it because of that, a settler stayed idle for several turns and you will automate your workers. I would suggest trying to stay more focused on your micromanaging, and you'll make the Prince AI crumble beneath your feet, because in terms of war you're pretty well versed, that's undeniable
.
I suggest that you always have some money on your treasury. Then you'll be able to pay the flood on the roads, the burn on the forest, the pests on the granary, the fire on the forge, the cigarette on the theater, the slaves unrest. Even those other Random Events that can actually give you something good, like the Joyous Wedding, the Federal Reserve, the Airship Crash, need a gold reserve.
And please, take that spot near the English and build the Greek Canal there
It'll be awesome for Navy Maneuvers
