Temp at about -3C. Got about 4 inches from the storm which swept thru central New York last night, which means us early birds need to start training this year's snowplow folk which area they need to plow first:
Update: nobody died thanks to the early warnings, and the Rural Fire Service seem to think they lost less homes than they expected. Dozens of very small fires were caught and extinguished before they could get out of control. Things aren't done yet (again, it's still spring) but the worst fires are rated merely "out of control" rather than emergencies, so people will presumably have time to wait to be instructed to evacuate instead of being told "get out early, we can't help everyone", and it'll be two or three days before the conditions get bad again.
No rain today, yet
Forecast says it will rain again in the evening.
Today a paper publishes that in the basque country we are in the most rainy november since 1947.
There are no previous records.
We're about an hour away from a one-two punch snowstorm that's predicted to last about 30hrs. First phase is a storm coming up from the midwest, then that storm is going to get pushed back from a nor-easter coming up the coast, with the warm moist Atlantic air hitting the cold front and turning into more snow. Below are the predicted storm totals - be interesting to see how accurate the totals end up being:
Our first big rain storm has passed but they are predicting another one by mid next week. I can't wait for everything to turn green though if it does happen then we're going to be in for another brutal fire season.
Cold today, but a respite from the blizzards that have been racking us since Thursday. Freezing rain all day tomorrow with accompanying loss of power and internet. Oh joy.
We came back to snow on our mountain. that's a great place for it! The two inches or so at our house was mostly washed away by rain before we got home.

I noticed today there is snow on my local peak too. That hasn't happened since I've lived here as it's not that tall. And all the more distant, taller peaks are snow capped as well. With all the rain, they will turn green on their bottom halves pretty soon and that would be cool.
