I'm starting to consider a new theory:

Its possible this is only that one guy. No muslims or immigrants. Our version of the Oklahoma bomber. A crazy guy with some grudge against the Labour party (The people on the island is the Labour Youth Party, and Labour is the biggest party in the current government, and has the Prime Minister).

That, a fringe Al-Qaida group, or Gaddafi. In order of probability.

Considering the arrested person allegedly is a blond, young man and so little has been heard from any terrorist org.s, it seems like the best bet atm.

It seems pretty well planned and if it is the act of one man, I'm a bit surprised that they were able to arrest him. It really sounds like an awful terrorist act. I still have a hard time believing that it only is a pure political act, if it is.

Some youthful person is filled with angst at the government, but rather than settle the matter peacefully, decides to go and murder innocent people.

Sadly, not the first time individuals have done this.

Let's hope the arrested person was acting alone and there aren't accomplices planning a third strike.

No way one single person, blonde or otherwise, planted car bombs in Oslo and then went to an island somewhere and went on a shooting spree though. This has more than one guy involved.

For all we know, the person who was arrested purposely let himself get caught so as to divert attention from the fact more extremists are at large.

But, let's hope they don't have anything else up their sleeve... the bloodshed is already immense, in the dozens.

Well, you can't really go by race. AQ and similar organizations have Western converts like John Lindh, Jose Padilla, etc.

We'll have to see who takes credit for it, or what they dig up on the terrorists' backgrounds.

Utøya sounds like a true nightmare. When the shooting started almost all police, ambulances and helicopters etc had been sent to help in Oslo, so all those people were trapped on a small island with no escape.

In the end, does it matter which terrorist/terrorist organization perpetrated the bombings? Because in the end, you still have possibly 30+ dead people in a relatively peaceful city that were killed senselessly by some sort of monster, no matter his ideology. So stop bickering whether if he has a beard and speaks Arabic versus a blonde-haired Scandanavian, and start praying/hoping/making sense of the situation in Oslo.

Terrorist attack is still likely connected to muslim extremists. There are thousands of converts in Scandinavian countries and they are usually very fanatical.

Not really. An EU report from 2008 found that the majority of terrorist attacks carried out in Europe were conducted by either sepratist, anarchist, or racial groups. Attacks carried out by Muslim extremists were in the minority.
