I don't know him personally, but I guess I could see this as being true. What he's done as president makes him seem as a bad person, though.

Voted 1.

A guy I know's mother worked for the Rangers when Bush owned the team. According to her, he was a douchebag.

fun friendly guy to be with... but not so impressive a president. i give him a two,

Three, he didn't cause a huge national disaster.

Seconded.

He is not the worst president in the US history. He led the US into a pointless war, he damaged its reputation, he angered the US allies, he increased the debt and the economy is not doing badly.

On the other hand, except Iraq, there was not another major mistake. I'd give him 2 if he totally screwed the US economy, but he didn't, so 3 seems appropriate.

I refrain. Because I (and, frankly, all the rest of you as well) don't know enough about running a country to have any stinkin' idea what Bush's policies are actually going to accomplish.

The greatest economic minds in the world cannot predict whether the stock market will go up or down. The very best politicians can only guess at whether the liberation of Iraq will be a good thing or a bad thing for the Middle East in the long run. The very best anti-terrorist agents in the Pentagon don't know where Osama Bin Laden is (or, indeed, where most other terrorists are--they're hiding). The very best doctors don't know how to stop AIDS. The very best social workers don't know how to solve the problem of world hunger.

If the very best minds on the planet can't figure these problems out, a bunch of fat, lazy, Internet-surfing knuckleheads like us certainly won't.

I'd say that the PATRIOT Act is the most terrible thing to emanate from his administration. He said that he would uphold the Constitution, but his flagrant disregard for the basic human and Constitutional rights for all people earns him a 2.

At least he isn't Johnson...

1) How far does your acatalepsy extend? Certainly not so far that it prevents you having an opinion on posts in this thread.

2) Most of the above are incorrect. The very best doctors don't have the resources to stop AIDS. I could solve the problem of world hunger if you gave me the right equipment and time - and this isn't a tautological solution where I define "the right equipment and time" to be a world-spanning food preparation and distribution system that runs flawlessly forever.
All I would need, I conjecture, would fit in a room ten metres wide, ten metres long, and two metres tall. Give me the components I desire and five to ten years in which to work on setting the stuff up, and I'll not only solve world hunger, but I'll stop AIDS too, and for an encore, I'll peacefully overthrow every dictator in the world.
(And no, I'm not going to request a nanofabricator from the future and the blueprints for a world-spanning utopia machine either. All necessary things are available in the present.)

I gave him a 2. I think if certain things break his way, he might move up to a 5. If other things don't, I absolutely think he's in Harding territory.

The two big +'s of the Bush era that I can think of would be his Africa policy, and his promotion of several minorities to cabinet posistions. Of corse, Jackson resigned in scandal, Alberto was basically impeached and Powell quit in disgust after he saw his stearling reputation start to evaporate...but hey, you can't win 'em all right?

The Bush/Cheney docterine of expanding Executive power to "Nixion and beyond" levels terrifies me, and should terrify and conservative who cares about the Constitition. (like VRWC) He's appointed some epically bad people to surround him and give advice. He squandered the world's goodwill in a manner I didn't even think was possible.

I know that we don't want to say he's a 2 or a 3, cause that would make us look like radical left wingers....but in my mind, thats really what he deserves. He hasn't been a good administrator, he hasn't been a good leader, most of his policies have failed....he was a bad president. No way around it.

Ignore him.
Unless there is some medical condition present, the only rational way to explain his never-ending drivel is that he is some sort of agent provocateur. The poor creature can't even refrain from trolling in his sig.

As for the poll, I give mr.Bush a 9 ( yes, you read correctly, this is not a typo).

I'm trying to think what sort of scenarios 1-10 could represent:

10) Terriffic leadership, country leaps ahead economically and in International standing.
9) Strong leadership, economy and international relations progress.
8) Solid. Good points outweigh the bad.
7) Mediocre. Unmemorable.
6) Poor. Remembered more for bad policies than good.
5) Bad. Economy stagnates, international relations damaged.
4) Drives the economy into the ground, ruins the country's international standing, suffers sanctions etc.
3) Policies so bad they result in the country being attacked.
2) As above + gets invaded
1) Gets their country invaded and loses.

Bush gets a 5 from me.

Let me guess. You say that because Bush is hurting the US, thus he's good in your eyes?

4. He could have screwed things up a lot worse than he actually did. Plus, he found a way to save John Ashcroft from being viewed as the worst Attorney General ever.
