For some weird reasons, Mercenaries hired from the Guild of the Nine cities sometimes start to have their own mind. They have this kind of promotion added to them, which makes them wander on their own and are aggressive.

Well this happened to me, but you might want to check if they happened to be in a stack and got hit w/the mutate spell and got enraged.

Continuing on with my current game, I can confirm that the fireballs have gone weird in that they immediately attack an enemy 1 tile away. So did the fireball that had a range of 2 go away? It seems to damage all enemies in a radius like the AV priest's spell does.

Plus I've noticed an odd thing AI wise. I'm playing 'no settler's and as mentioned previously the Kuroiotates and Calabim's capital's are 4 tiles away. Also on this largest continent is the Mechanos and two barb cities. The Mechs got to one barb city and Archeron got the other. What surprises me is that when I took Archeron's city, I gave it to my elvish vassal. Now that I'm war with Mechanos, so far all he's only attacked this elvish city with is a knight and a witch hunter! I would think that in 400 turns the Mechs would have ample units to attack a city that has about 3 units in it. The Mechs are certainly being aggressive at sea with their frigates.

Plus, there are barbarian cities elsewhere on the map on islands. Yet NONE of the AI civs have gone after them even when they have the means to do so. I even gifted some galleons to see if they'd go try and pick up some cities. The Ljosolfar were landlocked so when I gifted them two galleons, I expected them to go like a bat out of hell towards these 'open' cities since only the Mechanos and the Luirchirp (before I killed them) had more than one city. It didn't happen! In fact, I found the galleons just hanging out in a fort of mine on an island off Ljosolfar territory!

Now this may all just be an issue with the no settler option causing a lot of problems for the AI, but if the computer players ignore any city not on their land mass, well I would think the 'no settler' option should come with a warning to only play one land mass type maps.

About fireballs, take a peek at the design changes log.

About overseas warfare, the piece of code allowing it does not exist/function for the AI. Since two or more years ago..

It would be a polite admission from the developers of the main mod and the modmods to just admit this in the mod descriptions. To avoid confusion and disappointment. One landmass maps are the only 'fair' option for these mods. Tectonics with lakes is my favourite.

No, no spell was casted in the stack or to the stack. After the turn i hired the mercenaries, it just got enraged.

Yeah, I like that map too. Gives just enough water to still be interesting. Of course you pretty much hoses the Lauann.

Do you have access to chaos mana? One of the features of chos mana is that rarely, a unit begins with mutated.

Ok, another break is more or less over.
The christmas/holidays are over for me and I have finally finished some New Year backups/HDD cleaning things. Right now I am working on making functional stand-alone install for Orbis 0.30.
Unfortunatelly, I have to finish a biology textbook till the end of January, so my modding time is really limited. No plans to realease 0.30 this month. I might be persuaded to release it earlier, if patch K for FfH is out. That would mean a version without some new stuff which I have not finished yet (new civs), but stand alone and up-to-date with the main mod. Up to you people.
So, I wish you all a Happy New Year
and now to the bugs...

Have a weird glitch. Halfway through the game the fireballs went all screwy. Most of the time I can't cast one. (For example a mage in a city with no enemies in range)
I changed that. For a long time, I wondered why fireball is a unit... It did not make any sense (lightning bolt unit anyone?) and caused a lot of problems. So I just cut the unit and replaced it with direct damage spell it should be.
Golems do not produce fireballs in Orbvis for a long time.
Hello,
I just started a new Orbis game (latest patch p) as Mechanos and the game keeps crashing every turn without apparent reason. Can anybody help?
Will check the save.

Actaully, I want to bring back that part of the code and make AI good on island maps again. Just no luck finding the exact place that was changed yet. If anyone can point it to me, that would be great. Otherwise, it will have to wait for its turn.
No, no acces to chaos mana.
There are several possible reasons, but without a save or detailed info on promotions on units I can't help you.

Well the change makes perfect sense because I hated casting a fireball at an enemy, have it 'die' and then my enemy gets a great commander out of it!

Have another thing I've noticed. I have used the faun/satyr ability to charm those giant sea tortoises but I can't use them to attack other animals (when I'm not at peace w/them) and while my enemies can attack them, they can't attack back.

Plus, any reason why griffons can't be charmed? Aren't you supposed to be able to capture them and make them into griffon knights later?

like elephants (and mammoths?), tortoises can only defend, i guess they are too gentle...

not a bug per se and i don't know if there's a way around it, but it's a bit strange that if you beeline bronze working, workers can chop jungles but not forests until agriculture is researched. maybe the ability to chop forests could be moved to mining instead, so it's in the same tech-line?

Not Really a bug per-say but isn't Fiacra a little large?

It is, especially that there is no Fiacra in Orbis. I guess you are playing RifE and should report it there. Well, Valkrionn comes here sometimes so he will probably notice it anyway ;)

Hehe, yeah. That one's RifE, should be reported there. And yes, the artdefine is far too large.

Edit: Also, I come here ALL the time. Check every post in the modmod forums.

In fact he and I have had quite a few post back and forth in the sub-folders Ahwaric, like in regards to the Eastern Civ. Don't complain no one reads the stuff in the Orbis folders till you check them out! :p

Which reminds me, is there anything you are desperate for prior to 0.30 release?

oops, thats what happens when you dont check which mods mod mod topic your on. <thats supposed to be a blush?

It's why I stopped playing FfH and FF. It was hard to keep everything straight of what was in each mod. Now I just tend to play Orbis, Planetfall and Dune Wars and so a lot easier to keep track of what is what! :p

I read everything that is posted in Orbis forums. Well, sometimes I skip some posts in LENA thread, but I read everything else. But not always I have something constructive to say - or decided what do I think... ;)

Ok, so, the plan is (or was as I am almost sure I won't b able to do it before I feel a need to release new version):

stand-alone install - 90% done, I want to check the music for religions (I do not think all tracks fit religions well) plus I really need to finish renaissance track list, current one (and BtS renaissance one) is baroque, not renaissance.
some clearing - never done, but did some
civics - not started, religious civics are still in (just redistributed), plus I need to rebalance some and write religious category - just the names for now
FF civs changes - Scions & Tlacatl have some stuff I think is confusing or not needed - some done, some pending, 25% completed at best
Mechanos - have some plans, but will see if anything gets in
new civs:
Dao - not really started
Palatinate (someone might have found it in pedia, but you have to dig deep, I think only Opera knows anything right now) - plenty of ideas, will start coding when I am done with moving to stand-alone install
New art for some civs - will see...

As I said, I am really short of time right now, and will have to drop the modding I did most of this weekend to do some RL work in next 3 weeks. But will still do some tinkering, I like it too much :D
In short, I need to prepare stand alone install before I release. The rest depends on how much you people are desperate to get what is ready...

Are you planning to add some things from LENA ? Ngomele, hated civics and Grigori enchantments ? I really like Grigori bookstores ;>
EDIT: oh, and Palatinate ? I found some flavor text in gametext_orbi... They seem to be some new civ somehow connected with Scions, but I haven't heard anything about them yet. Did I miss something ? :>

Well be careful with the stand-alone installer as both Dune Wars and LoR had problems where those of us using Steam couldn't install the mod.

As for the music, I'm all for change. You might want to look at the music files in Europa Universalis as their music starts in 1442 and goes all the way to the Napoleonic era and the music changes as the years go forward. As I've previous complained/whined before, I hope you add more music to the no religion folder since it gets real boring playing the agnostic civs. Of course I still think the agnostic Civs should have their own music distinct from the no religion types. That being said, will humanism get their own music? Would almost expect music from the Enlightenment era for that.

Dao - not really started

So what was the final verdict on the Dao? From the name it seems you are going for the elementalistic shamanism of the Tibetan/Indian/Nepalese brand of Easter Civ flavor over the Chinese/Japanese/Korean model. Any chance we'll ever get a C/J/K civ or at least change one of the current Civ's to that art style?

Well I just wanted to know what we all could do in regards to Civlopedia entries, artwork or the like.

It does not appear as if the AWAKENED have the ability to join city and add to its population. Major problem if youre playing as scions. Fix Please?
