Emperor
So much for the friendly approach.![]()

Rome and The Aztecs were obviously going for domination (that didn't work so well for Monty) and I was the next target. Plus I needed generals and admirals for that Nobel Prize thing.

Played this one last night. I settled in place. Hiawatha AI usually goes Liberty (sometimes Liberty *and* Tradition) so I decided to give Liberty a try for a change. Then Patronage, Rationalism, and Order. (I also almost never take Order) Before getting very far in the Order tree I switched to Commerce for the cheaper roads, more science, and the happiness from the finisher. Science victory on turn 273.OECG#93 In the Spirit of the Great Lakes
This time we play as the Iroquois on a standard sized Pangaea map. The level is Emperor and the pace is quick. The first thing that comes to mind is: is this really Pangaea? It is indeed but the shape is very unusual and already for that reason I think you should try out this game. Tha start is also among the strongest possible and in my own game I didn´t even SIP!! Tell me what you did. And the map has a lot of potential for watery activities, so I think it definitely qualifies as a game with the real spirit of the Great Lakes. Hopefully you will find this one as entertaining as I did. Have fun!
That was an interesting Pangea. I settled four cities around the lake, and fed my capital with boats. Peaceful game until I got fed up with Prophet spam from both the Aztecs and Polynesia and declared war on both. I took two Aztec cities and was given Samoa in a peace deal, which I mainly wanted so I could build a canal city between France and Polynesia. I didn't use it for anything, but it needed to be built.OECG#93 In the Spirit of the Great Lakes

I played this yesterday. Was surprised when I captured my first city and it didn't go *poof*. (not sure if your civsave file doesn't have OCC checked, or if I downloaded the wrong one) I used the save-editor you linked to change one of my recent autosave files and reloaded that and the cities vanished like they should (Surabaya and Jakarta.) Oddly enough, Indonesia rebuilt Jakarta and the victory board gave them credit for having their original capital, even tho' Medan was the capital now. So I guess if you're trying to OCC a domination game you need to totally eliminate all but the last AI. At least Jakarta was no longer a holy city and Stonehenge was gone. They never fully recovered from that and I'm surprised Poland didn't take them out.OECG#94a The Great American Frontier OCC
Here's the above game with One City Challenge turned on (using https://bmaupin.github.io/civ5save-editor/)
Finished this one, SV T275, playing as an OCC without the setting turned on. The AI didn't bother me all game. Guess it was a combo of me only having one city so they didn't get mad at my expansion and being #1 in science, thus military almost the whole game. I was running with the "too many units to support" most of the time thanks to gifts from the military CS. I even got gifted a Great Admiral but had no coastal city to give him a navy to command lol. (He's hanging out by my ally Lhasa in the screenshot.)OECG#94 The Great American Frontier
This was a hard one for some reason! First play-through, I went Liberty and settled about 5 or 6 cities. Gave up in the atomic era; I was behind and the AIs were declaring war on me constantly, 2 at a time.OECG#96 Something Fishy about the Incas.
Emperor difficulty, standard size, a Great Plains start, and you begin next to a nice big puddle. There's room round this sea for several cities, giving you nice safe trade routes. And in the middle of the sea is a surprise: The Great Barrier Reef. You'll even find a spot suitable for Petra. Go wild. Generate cash to buy the UN, turtle to a Science Victory, or use the start to take out all your enemies. And your friends. Enjoy!
I'm going to try this one after the current GotM. Venice can be interesting to play; would much rather play as Venice then have Enrico in my game as an opponent. I've never taken Dance of the Aurora pantheon before because its just pretty bad but this might be one case where it will work. Four tundra hills in view plus the luxury and if that deer is on tundra that'll be nice. SiP is really the only option here so no question about that.OEGC#97 Venice

Thanks. I wasn't sure this discussion was still alive. I've started it; in the modern era and still haven't really explored much.OECG#98 Hmm, what was the map template again?
Welcome to a fun game with a slightly unusual map. We are playing as Korea on a Large sized Continents map with Standard speed. The level is Immortal. Go for any peaceful victory condition. What could possibly go wrong? Find your way and don´t lose focus. Everything will be all right... eventually. Enjoy!
