Just spam settlers? Is that really it? That's what I already do with the English, albeit this was before I started using SVN.

You also have to control your population growth with whipping until well after Capitalism is available. The Pyramids are amazing for England, possibly even better than the Great Lighthouse, as they enable immediate or one-turn-delay whipping with two citizens many things that otherwise require four. And Civil Service isn't required for anything useful for a long time, so you can delay researching it until very late.

1. Initial army conquer Marrakus and north Africa. Use warrior code instead of levy armies for fast barracks and you want to whip.
2. Then, take Alexandria and Cairo ASAP. I got them around 1250, and conquered Jerusalem as well. Next target: Mecca and Baghdad.
3. Research toward astronomy and don't get divine right and civil service.
4. After astronomy, your new cities start with a lot of buildings and size 4, with the Pyramids, you can whip pagan temple with 1 pop, and Catholicism will spread automatically one turn later in new world and South Africa and English historical area, converting it to church. Then whip work boat, monastery and workers, then whip settler when you get size 4 -- this is slower expansion, not max speed.
5. Get printing press and convert. I got 2900 gold. That'll cover your research and upgrading cost.
6. Research rifling, upgrade an army to redcoats and cannons, begin war with Mughals. Take Lahore, Delhi and Patna directly, leave Mumbai etc. to your trading company force. By this time Mughals should built a lot of wonders including Spiral Minaret(if you got good luck, Arabs might already built it in Bagdad, Mecca or Cairo)
7. Research economics, build trading company, get tons of army for only 600 gold, conquer India.
8. Spam settlers and whip buildings crazily, yes there will be severe research penalty, but you benefit more, and English has no city distance maintaince cost, that's holy .
9. I didn't switch civics since guilds. Next time I'll liberalism-bulb constistution early and use cottage economy - I built workshops around Dublin but it seldom uses them, it just did whip and whip and whip.
10. I finally bought divine rights from Dutch in 1595 and built the Verseilles.

Way more ahistorical and unorthodox then I would ever think of doing, but i'll try it.

Because as I have increasing learned, playing historically is usually playing sub-optimally, ie being isolationist as China.

^That's not that Historical either. (being isolationist as China)
You really need to read up on certain Dynasties, like the Han, Tang & Ming.

Anyways, great job, youtien. I was thinking alot about an English strategy recently too.

Conquer the Moors with four longbowmen?

And how do you avoid losing to the super-powerful Arabs?

Yes. With luck and S/L, you can take Marrakus with 4 longbowmen. Of course you need catapult and knight to take them all.

I didn't face super Arabs. They usually have Tripoli, which can easily be conquered by knights, take it early, if Arabs army super strong, you can make peace and spam troops for another go.

Here is another go, this time I switched to republic-representation early and won in 1600. Didn't build Notre Dame this time, but you really don't need it when you get all those calender resources around Egypt..

This time I used cottage economy and got faster in tech, finished trading company by GE and researched rifling simutaneously in 1525. Pity that south India was still indy and I got only a small amount of troops, and this time I didn't conquer Turkey - no enough troops and time.

When I take Baghdad from Mongols, I faced a stack of 10+keshiks and 2 bombards, Jerusalem city defense stood for 3-4 turns, and I got rifling, upgraded pikemen to redcoats, then I slaughtered. Moved this army to India.

Feel free to look around my savefile.

Tips for conquering Moors: do not capitulate them! Spanish is scripted to fight them around 1190-1200, so you'll either lose them or Cordoba. Wipe them out instead, so you can keep Cordoba as another city for whipping.

Tips for founding colony: I recommend found trading company cities and around its resource first. 3 cities in the Caribbeans, they need few workers. You get food bonus for trading company, so they'll grow crazily along with fishing boats. At least 3 in south Africa - actually you can spam more; All decent spots in east Africa; southeast Asia - I didn't conquer Indonesia but I did raze & found Singapore in my first try. Singapore is not a very good spot, but with trading company it is very good (and has access to 2 sugars).

Raze every city that has no great people and few buildings, rebuild them by yourself.

For Aus and other spots you haven't got enough worker to send:

1st turn: whip pagan temple. (size 4->3)
2nd turn: work boat or worker.
3rd turn: whip. (3->2)
4th turn: worker or settler(stay at 2) or monastery or another work boat(grow)
5th turn: whip or let grow, then whip whenever it is possible and beneficial. Don't let city grow past 6 until all needed building is built. This way, you don't need to prepare too many workers, and tech penalty won't be too big. If you want an army, build barracks and spam bombards, axemen and knights.

Keep Sana'a! I razed it in first game, kept it in second try, and it has trading company. You can also rebuild it. If you rebuild it on coffee, will it get trading company?

I tried to play on after I got domination victory, but the management of 50+ cities killed me.

Hah! 1640 would probably have me jumping for joy at such a early finish date on Epic if I was trying.

Heck, I just finished an Arabian domination game in 1500 with a spectacular start on Epic speed. If I had settler spammed Africa I could have obtained a far earlier winning date, but what's the fun in that?

Play as Tibet as settler spam the Americas.
