Paradox Interactive games

Ohai guys

I was going to start playing EU3 but ran into some confusing things.
First of all, i should probably start playing EU3 as a first paradox game right ?
Second, there's about hundreds of expansions and/or DLCs for EU3 some seem to be standalone, some seem to require the previous version, some just seem to add a new period of time.
So confused.
Isn't there an EU3 "All the Things" Edition or something ? If not - with what should i start ?
Just get Chronicles, it has everything you need.

Thanks guys. I really hope i'll have enough time for this game. :)

you will never have enough time... it gets old real slow. i've played several hundred hours, and i'm having so much fun with it... :p

Playing as Spain on very easy. Conquered and annexed Granada WOO !
Damn it's hard to find opponents that won't kill me or are allied to someone who can kill me.

If you're Spain/Castille, Morocco is an easy one to beat, but their land for the most part is near useless if you're based in Spain. Italian states are good though, particularly the non-HRE ones.

Yea, i avoided an invasion of Morocco for now since they seemed poor. It seems hard to find a casus belli on an italian state tho. Will wait and see.

Btw, the techs are coming in veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Is that normal ?

Also, i keep getting the message: "X faction's cities lie in ruins/smoldering ash/smthing". Yet they are neither conquered nor in revolt. What does this mean ?

There's a mission that IIRC Castille can get called 'Italian Ambition'. To complete it I seem to remember you get a Conquest CB on all the Italian states.

How slow? It could be an issue of how much cash is going into your treasury.

I think that means they collapsed (haven't played EU in a while) which should be due to rebels.

That's not normal. I have no idea what could cause that, but I seem to recall something similar happening to me in my first game.

I even hired one of those advisors that gives me faster Gov Tech and another with Trade Tech from day 1 ! Also moved toward Free People (or whatever it's called) within the first year.

It sounds like you're having a lot of fun exploring the game? :)

Gratulations on annexing Granada!

Oh, just realised there is another thread where people discuss EU3 games, i should post there since this is for all paradox games. :p

Played as Aztecs, colonized all of Central America, from Texas to Panama (played D&T), made a great Empire, Portuguese came, I was about to westernize and kick their ass with my 40k army, a comet was sighted, stability drop, I forgot to save, Portuguese rape me, I ragequit.

Playing as HOI3 TFH as Japan. The US entered the war early, seemingly in response to me gobbling up the chinese minors. I decided to focus on beating the europeans and securing SEA and its resources before moving into the pacific. I did not however expect the scale of US convoy raiding against me. In two months they sank my entire reserve and about half my convoys are now unmanned. Had to pull back all the pacific garrisons and I am currently losing something like 60 rares and 120 metal per day...:(

Having a lot of fun with the battle plan editor though.

Pretty tame work compared to the premade historical ones though.

The naval offensive has yielded good results, but the Royal Navy still has three carriers lurking about my home waters (that is anywhere east of India :p).

I ended up with it before I knew about Kaiserreich. The latest version is a good game, but Kaiserreich would blow it out of the water.

To celebrate reaching 500k members on Paradox Plaza, Paradox gave out a steam code for EU3 Chronicles to everyone subscribed to the newsletter. They've also opened a webshop here, and until Feb 17th, they'll have a sale with some of their games at 50% off.

EDIT: I just realized this is a pretty big change; previous game giveaways were really only on Gamersgate. In addition, the Paradox Webshop sells Steam keys. I suppose its to be expected, as Paradox has been aligning itself with Steam recently (such as the announcement EU4 will be Steam-only).

Hmm. Sounds all interesting to me.

I wonder if anyone is having issues with the PI forums? I keep getting server errors or something.
