Patch is out!!!

Like or hate the game, this is probably the most extensive patch in Civ history (that I can remember, at least). I can't wait to get home.

Love it, parts of it annoy me, but ive loved civ since first playing civ 2. hence the reason i plan on buying the dlc. it is a step in the right direction, for sure.

Hi guys, longtime lurker here

Sorry to jump in with a problem, but I'm stuck with the patch and hoping you can help.

Started up Civ earlier, and got the Incorrect Installation (10) errors others mentioned on here. Evntually got past that, and steam announced it was downloading the patch. Seemed to go very quickly - maybe 20 seconds?

Starting up the game then, I now down't get text on the initial menus, just the XML tags, e.g. TXT_KEY_LEGAL_BODY, TXT_KEY_MULTIPLAYER, etc.. Out of interest I went through the menus to start a game, but it hung on the Begin the Journey screen. Same problem loading a saved game

Having read comments on here, I did the verify local content thing: one file needed redownloading, apparently. Still thr same problem.

Exited from Steam, reloaded steam, restarted Civ - same problem.

Any ideas?

Askia's horsemen will lose the city penalty if upgraded to UU:
If they can do this easily, have they done so for other stoopid things, like must-set-up-to-fire on artillery upgraded to rocket arty?
Or useless archery promotions on archers promoted to rifles?

I realy dont get jumping from 2 scientist slots to none for library, guess this shows how much thought they put into this game at release. I am happy with most of the other things mentioned and agree maritimes needed a nerf.

Has anyone else noticed the change to Natural Wonder yields? Krakatoa now provides 5 :c5science: , While rock of Gibraltar provides 2 :c5food: and 5 :c5gold: . Also, El Dorado provides 500 gold to first person to discover it, and Fountain of Youth makes units that have been next to is heal at double rate for the rest of the game

I have to say that I don't think I'm a fan of the fictitious landmarks. I'll live, but it kind of rubs me wrong.

Ugh. If they wanted El Dorado and the Fountain of Youth for a semi-fantastic Americas scenario, so be it, but messing up balance and adding fantasy wonders to the main game is silly.

........Sorry to jump in with a problem, but. Any ideas?

You had multiple trys including verify local cache. Personally I would delete local cache and redownload the lot. Ok its 2/3 hours to do it .... but you should get a clean full download with no more messing around.

Go to Library, right click the Civ Icon, select Properties, then delete local cache

.... then watch a movie on ITunes :) If it does not load cleanly, I suggest you repost on the Technical Forum.

Zy

Does all Natural Wonders give 3 happiness of settling close to them? If not Old Faithful gives that and 2 science, if all gives 3 happiness Old faithful is pretty bad as it is often in dessert...

Oh, come the heck on...is there a way to turn these off?

That's too much Civ Rev creeping into Civ proper. I'm not a Civ Rev basher, but those just don't belong in the main game.

Don't know, but one of them (Can't remember what, think it's the fountain of youth) Gives 10 happiness.

I know, but that wasn't my point. My point was the new wonder yields.

Yeah, I like the different yields a lot. It sounds like it'll add a little variety.

It's just the names . . . not a stretch from there to "Lost City of Atlantis" and such . . .
