That was one of the first short stories written, and is in the "preview thread," which is linked on the first post. It is old, but the idea still remains. Alot of things have changed or been developed. So the actual process of immortality is a bit different

Basically a war arises out of jealousy of the mortals. They begin to polarize. Their are those who admire and wish themselves to be immortal, and those who despise, and feel exploited by the immortals.

Weapons were outlawed long ago. But there was a creator, said to be a self made cyborg, who made machines. They used high tensile metals as blades, as actual projectile pieces were too hard, and too dangerous for a civilian to get ahold of.

When it's 7 machines were released, they seemed invincible. They struck fear into the hearts of immortals. Allthough only a dozen or so immortals were destroyed.... the impact was great.

In the underground of the crowded cities, the eyes of rebellion lit up. The time had come to pay back the immortals.

A chaotic revolution spread, throughout the entire solar system. But it did not effect the immortals. Seeing the threat they quickly began to offer immortality to those who would serve a decade in the military.

The war spanned a two planets, and a handful of moons. The end result was a dark age, a feudalism of sorts. The immortals were too outnumbered, and what they owned was more precious than gold. Their own armies were not trustworthy, and as the rate of immortal casualties blossomed, mistrust grew, and they began to split off into their own factions.

Two things industries were focused on during the Solar War; Cyonics, because being able to provide immortality was how you raised armies, and weaponry. It never really ended, and there were no documents of surrender, because the enemies were hard to figure out. Eventually, as they say in mathematics, the variable converged. Enough people were killed to bring their numbers down to immortal, sustainable numbers. The revolution for all intents and purposes was over. Peace could have prevailed, except for the sruvival instinct of many of the immortals left living, who still lived as if they were going to one day die. But their strikes were small incidents of sabotage or assasination, and nothing to upset the common immortal.

Corporations and trade are the only rule for the next couple of centuries. in all reality, this is to blunt weapon technologies growth, so hyperspeed space travel can be in existance, while weaponry science is only 1 level above plasma, a weapon called BOLT. It also allows for forward time travel. This mod, and it's story, is built to fit the Civ III engine, so many of the, what I consider to be original, ideas, have arisen out of necessity to fit in the Civ III engine. A loose system of laws was instituted and agreed to, called the Pax Eternia Confederation. It passed laws that were not followed. It's only real use was the growth of a common currency. It's only real enforcement power was used to punish those who broke contracts, as those were the only criminlas for which corporations were willing to risk immortal lives and materials to punish.

There were two lynchpin incidents, about 15 years before Pentagenesis that shook the PEC.... it was a mutant/alien attack on the capital, NeoTokyo, and sacking of it. Unknown who did it. Official PEC statement blamed an alien attack, and made a plea for a call to arms. An outer Star Sytem mining post claimed responsibility, declaring war on PEC for upholding mutant slavery, but htey certainly would have had to had help, to transport all the way to the inner galaxy an army comprised of illegal breeds, and armed with illegal weapons. Many predicted it was a demon of war, the Dark Shogun, who many believe brought about the Solar War, and creator of the seven machines.

The other incident included the assasination of a handful of senators, on the senate floor, by something that seemed to appear out of nowhere, and then vanish. Regardless, the powerful corprorations and nations of the PEC no longer trusted it for their safety, and began to construct their own security.

The PEC handed out contracts to companies to colonize other planets. One of them happens to be Sona Prime, where this mod takes place. Two years after the launch of an armada of contractor colony ships, PEC has collapsed. Their drone army launched to arrive 10 years ahead of schedule, (human intolerance to high constant acceleration slows down their Faster Than Light travel capabilites, they must gradually attain their speed. Drones can accelerate much faster, because they do not posess a conciousness stream) no longer has a command structure, and is relegated to their self-preservation circuits. An emergency procedure in case they are cut off from base by an enemy army. barbarians

Thats about all I really know, because the Solar War is part of the past, as far as this mod is concerned.

I really would like to stress how antiquated this mod is :)
 
antiquated or not it's still fun. :) Hell I have been playing a game all day (before it crashed while I was in the middle of shrinking my Enforcers army down :wallbash: )

I want to do the solar war mod next, and then a racial galactic war between 15 races, the first five, plus ten half breed races. But it will probably neer happen.

The last futuristic mod will be when war has shattered all communications, and ships move around the entire galaxy. Some planets are forgotten, and only a select few know the secrets of the technology encoded in crystals... sort of a technomagical tale of how the immortals become gods in the planes of their omega points.

UU's get two bonus points, as opposed to one in Civ, but this is because the most powerful normal unit in the first era is 4/4/2, the BlitzRAV.

I am still unlearning what I have learned in Rhino, but here is a look at the third era human/clone infantry suit. This was also done in OpenFX. I will still be using blender once I get my new computer. But I am moving these next two weeks, so afterwords, it'll be party time with Blender.

Wow. Thats quite cool. The only bad thing about enforcers is they don't upgrade. :( But the stats make it a keeper for a while. I like the speed it has. Through i don't understand why the tanks don't have blitz?

Tanks are cheaper, and require only one resource. They are a lesser weapon.

Enforcers do not upgrade because their extra movement point gives them usability for a long while.
 
I have been playing (and enjoying immensely) your mod the last few days. However, right after I built my first Rail Tank (not necessarily the cause though) I got the following error which crashed the game:

FILE NOT FOUND

"Art\Units\Early Hover Tank\..\..\..\..\..\..\art\units\Modern Armor/ModernArmorDeath.wav"

Any thoughts?

Welcome to CFC! And thanks for making me your first post! :cool:

I can't really help you. It may be you have perhaps installed something over your modern armor file by accident in your main Civ III folder? It could be a bug, and if so you are the first to report it.

It appears to be related to the early hovertank, which probably has the same death sound effect as the modern armor. It is not the rail tank, because it uses the "radar artillery" death.

If you absolutley must continue your game, I would suggest copying the lasertank .ini in art/units/lasertank, and pasting it into art/units/early hovertank, and then renaming the file early hovertank.ini (must be spelled exactly like the filename it is in.
