Is liking action movies a choice? Or a defect? Or maybe simply a preference and aspect of someone's personality just like thousand other things?

There is a reason why all anti-gay groups portray it as a choice. It allows them to portray it as simply immoral and can be discriminated against. Otherwise it can be directly compared to race and other things that it is entirely unacceptable to discriminate based on (legally anywhere in the West and morally in the vast majority).

The idea that people can get therapy to be attracted to a specific gender I have nothing inherently against, but:
1) It is usually presented as a "cure" implying that homosexuality is merely a disease.
2) The social conditions that exist right now pressure many into such therapy and then to deny who they are, which cannot be good for their mental health.

Oh not at all, I have no respect for psychology as a profession it is used as a means to remove troublesome people and opinions from society at the states insistence. Homosexuality was regarded as a mental illness but was removed because of political pressure, Its the same reason those people who believe they are men or women in the wrong body are not regarded as mentally ill.

When you say homosexuality is NOT a choice, You imply this response, more or less (by concession in the event there is a choice, you ask for pity, and not respect). "I'm afflicted with the gays, don't make it worse." is not equivalent to "There's nothing wrong with choosing to be homosexual, and I don't go around mocking your lifestyle choices, either." So long as some science remains supportive of this assertion, you're probably fine, but if some complication were to come wash away the ground you stand on...

You will have to wait until they become a minority (a very small minority) otherwise they kick up quite a stink and certainly have political backing opposing any attempt to classify them as mentally ill.
