Hey there, stories and tales forum...I've been lurking around these forums for ages and never posted anything at all. Anyway, I've finally joined the forums, and this is my first story. Note that this is a game from a while ago, (About a year, actually) and was basically just a "conquer the whole world" game. I played on the BtS earth 18 Civs map as Cyrus of Persia. The only two victory conditions I have in are conquest and domination.
I'm basically going to go for a complete conquest of all 18 Civs. Why as Persia? Well, aside from the Roman Praets, the Immortals are among the best UUs around in the early era. The fact that there is no Babylonia makes it easy to destroy the Arabs within a few turns and spread your culture across Mesopotamia/Levant/Anatolia, and eventually into Egypt.
Since this wasn't intended for posting originally, this will jump around a lot. This probably won't be high quality, but anyway, here goes:
The very first move I made was to rush three warriors and attack and conquer Mecca. The Arabians were destroyed within six turns. I founded Persepolis on the spot and then built the second city at the head of the Persian gulf.
Once the Arabian capital was under the control of Persia, peace reigned over the empire. Until the Egyptians founded a city, Heliopolis, across the Tigris in the Levant. By now, I had acquired Immortals, and soon Heliopolis was in Persian hands.
Oh, and I met the Mongols. Fun.
Jumping ahead about 200 years, I'm still at war with the Egyptians, besieging Thebes. Memphis has fallen, and I have a great general leading an Immortal. Note three more Immortals moving into the Levant. Egypt is a dangerous adversary, given their unique unit is roughly par to the Immortal. Still, they can't match my production, and they're ultimately doomed.
And just two turns later we're marching into Thebes with the Immortal horde. Two civs down, sixteen to go.
The Persian Empire, 500 BC. Just finished the Great Wall.
This concludes the first installment of my 18 Civs Conquest. All comments welcome.
