Pet Peeves

The insistent use of the word 'salty' in place of 'savoury' by the company I work for. They claim to have stuff professionally translated :spank:
Having to hide all oranges and anything related to them when my mum comes to visit because she believes that they contain evil spirits.

I can't bear when people refuse to understand on purpose. Give me the urge to break them into tiny pieces.

People who are unwilling to take responsibility when they make a mistake.

Worse if they try to blame someone else.

Even worse if they can't admit that there was a mistake made in the first place.

my only pet peeve is people with pet peeves

no wait, thats a major psychotic hatred... :p

come to think of it, i dont have pet peeves, only major psychotic hatreds

My pet peeve would probably be prejudice; applying a judgement (or motives) to a group of people instead of individuals. Probably the most annoying thing I've heard recently is Ann Coulter saying "There are some bad Republicans; there are no good Democrats." It wouldn't matter if it were Michael Moore saying the opposite, such a generalization is just maddening to me.
But you don't mind being prejudiced against people who are like me, right?

I do believe this is the first time we have agreed.

Stupid people &/or actions. Now I'm not saying fools who do something ignorant but didn't know any better - I mean the people who do the same thing over & over, knowing full well the consequences of their actions, and then having the nerve to curse their misfortunes. Single women with multiple children from multiple men, and on welfare cursing their living environment amongst other things - is a good example.

What's worse is when one of these people asks me for advice, particularly a no-brainer, that I give - knowing it will solve their problem - but they refuse to listen to it. Of course, the worst is when they come back 2 years later saying they finally figured it out and that I'm stupid - even though their 'epiphany' was what I specifically recommended 2 years earlier.

Little things include: disrespectful people; someone who seems to prefer to bang their spoon inside their coffee mug, as opposed to actually stirring it - particularly in mornings (when I like quiet); people who actually think basketball takes more skill than hockey, just because they like it better; people yelling your name from another room, because they are too lazy to get up and walk over to you (when the issue has nothing to do with what's in the other room); modern day rap/hip-hop/r&b/dance-party-USA/teeny-bopper music; the electoral college; hypocrites; minds so closed that you couldn't pry them open with a crowbar (often making you want to literally try); bad drivers (they know who they are); Microsoft; black history month (the whole argument is stupid - white people settled the land, hence a majority of American history will be dominated by white people's actions - besides that, the Irish only got one day, why a whole month?); ...speaking of which... - people who think equal rights means special rights; station wagons; foolish debates like abortion where both sides argue over how to clean up an individual mess, rather then preventing it from happening again  ; no Wonder videos in Civ3; Jamie Lee Curtis; obnoxious advertising (ex- "Pepsi" Center, "Capital One" Bowl, etc); doing it the easy way, instead of the right way; jeans hanging off peoples rears & hats slightly crooked - and then calling it a fashion statement; long posts...

they don't call me "sour" for nothing.

People who act cool and like they are jsut the top of the world, but are really just selfish brats who don't have a care for any living thing on earth except for themselves.

Bad spelling and punctuation on the internet. Just because it's the internet there's no excuse for making yourself look like an idiot. The "where/were/wear" and "there/their/they're" stuff really pisses me off.

That's why I love the somethingawful.com forums, the admins there actively support berating people for bad grammar and the like. We even have an :english101: smiley.

Yeah? Well they cost money...I'm not paying $9.95...

There is only one thing to make CFC an internet utopia--Ban all those who make PlutonianEmpire's life miserable! :mischief:

My pet peeve is that crackling sound you hear in the movie theater as soon as the lights turn off and everone stops talking, except you can hear the annoying sound of people crunching their popcorn, slurping their drinks, and people whispering nonsense to the person next to them.

Another pet peeve of mine is how people (At least where I live) walk on the left side in the mall instead of the right. They act annoyed when they bump into you but its like they are the ones on the WRONG SIDE. Is it so hard to figure out this is not England? We walk on the right, drive on the right, and is universially understood that you don't try to fight traffic, meaning walking on the left side against the wave of people on the right side.

I dislike people who yap in movie theatres. On a similar theme I really dislike dumb females who go to the opera or theatre and yap incessantly. It's like they go to these things to promote their self image of being cultured young ladies. Why do these slags do it? Why can't they go to the pub if they want to yammer? Why are they always from Clapham?

My pet peeve is when I am in London, my contact lenses have fallen out and I ask some bloke what the time is .... than he kicks me in the face.

What a conicedence. Me too.

This thread is getting interesting:

People who misuse "to/too/two" this runs along the lines of lazy internet grammar.

People who curse at you when they disagree with you/ people who accuse you of something and walk away.

Those who cannot make a decision on their own/ have to constanly be around people.

Over-analyzation particularly when it turns into "define x" (word/statement/idea)

My pet peeve is actually a case of Swedish spelling. In English it's right to spell it petrol station, instead of petrolstation. In Swedish this is wrong, wrong, wrong! :spank:
