PH06: One is the Loneliest Number!

Poor Augustus! He's a good-looking fella ~ but he just can't get any women!! Even that couple from New Jersey that just moved into the neighborhood found each other!

And what's left for him?!? Nothing, that's what!! Well, this just won't do, this JUST WON'T DO!

If Augustus can't be happy, can't nobody be happy!!

Leader: Augustus of Rome
Opponents: 5 Married Couples, including:
:whipped: Catherine + Saladin (Russia-Arabia)
:whipped: Victoria + Asoka (England-India)
:whipped: Hatshepsut + Huayna Capec (Egypt-Inca)
:whipped: Isabella + Hannibal (Spain-Carthage)
:whipped: Alexander + Mansa Musa (Greece-Mali)
Difficulty: Prince
Map: Pangea, Natural
Size: Large
Speed: Epic
Victory: ANY (see variant rules)
Variant Rules:
* Before we win (by any condition) we must ruin each relationship. This means, one partner must be dead from each relationship!

Roster:
Pholkhero
Strauss
Scowler
Furrie
Karr
GreyFox

** Open Audtions ~ now taking any and all applications, whether we've played together or not. I just want someone who will talk up strategy, be involved in the SG, and submit well-written reports w/Screenies and explanations or 'story-type' reports.

Start and first 30 turns to come in 12 hours or less!

I might be interested if you put the difficulty somewhat higher (say Prince/Monarch).
cause Noble AND Epic is just to easy.

If you don't mind that I will be absent from Nov 3 - 10, I would like to finally sign up for a PH-SG.

I was thinking of Prince, but i think that with two AIs teamed up, Prince may be too much too overcome. But if others sign-up and wish for an increase, I'd be game.

edit: Strauss, you're in!

I'll join too, if you'll have me. I don't particularly care about the difficulty - I'm more interested in having fun with the trouble and strife...

I would also vote to move the difficulty to Prince. I have no experience with teamed AI's (let alone FIVE teams), but since my regular level is Monarch I think Prince won't be too hard.

a) it IS warlords, but not patched as it seems, as per Alexman's post, the patch may not be out for awhile

b) maybe i was mad at Alexman :p

you in Karr? I've got you in a spot just in case...

aslo, @ Furrie ~ i've raised it to Prince, you in?

I'm in if it's Prince sure.
My normal level nowadays is Emperor so i'll be fine :)

See, fellows, Alex is really just a projection of Pholk's id. Losing Mansa, handsome devil that he is, has always been Pholk's one great regret. Sort of like how Joni never kicked Ritchie in the nuts.

well, you always fall hardest for your first

:rotfl:

Just for that, i'm putting Fox up after you

Not a sign-up but... I supposed you picked AC because of beefed up Creative and Organized. Kekeke... let me start a Mehmed gunpowder game after the patch. But first...

Judging by the variant, it is almost impossible to win by diplomacy but it would be weird if the broken couples vote AC the winnah.

...and maybe you'd want to turn off Vassal States because it seems just screwy for this type of game... or do you just want AC to "steal" all the girls?

nah, picked AC b/c a)wanted a Roman to get a small advantage over the teamed AI, and b)JC is so overdone ~ wasn't even thinking of the new traits, though he DOES benefit the most from it ~ 'sup wit dat?!?

also, Fox ~ i forgot this wasn't Mag7 ~ i'm still including you in the roster, but you're last....and before ME ~ ahahaha...this is me sharpening my whip, er..wait... :dunno:

anyway, food for thought before I play later:

Settling on spot is a no-brainer ...
AC starts with Fishing, so build order should be workboat first ...
AC starts with Mining, so research should be BW next ...
AI are all teamed-up, which gives them a 50%-100% extra researching power, so forget about finding the ancient 3 religions, just let them found one and we take their holy city.

Okay, so starts the Owner of a Lonely Heart . . . as advised by Gen GreyFox, but unbeknownst to me at the time, i did indeed settle on the spot and head for a Workboat and Bronze Working. I sent our explorer North since i discovered that we are on a peninsula.

The goody hut gets popped by our borders in 3880. We get a map:

This is the only non-ocean discovery. At least the GH will come in handy.

Two turns later, a Jerky-- Jersey boy shows up. He stares Augustus up and down:

"What ARE you wearing?!" he crows. Augustus looked down, and found himself blushing. Did he, perhaps, want to look good for-- No, he's not that lonely . . . yet.

[peanut gallery: :rotfl: :goodjob: ]

I ask about his 'partner:'

[Notice the swap to Wang Kon from Mansa. I couldn't bear to see MM with another. (Actually, i wanted all teams to start w/a mysticism.)]

Alex gets aggressive, popping our . . .

hut!

Hundreds of years later, in 3310 bc, our exploring warrior pops his 2nd hut finally!

He's Wood II of course.

Oooo, and on the next turn, we meet this lovely lady.

"Oh, I get your drift alright, maam," Augustus replied. "I look forward to having relations with you."

"And how's Mr. of Russia?"

The same whiny, sniveling, spineless whelp of a man.

Okay, there was more exploration done, and here's the situation in 3100:

This one could be used for dotmaps:

Roster:
Pholkhero > just played

Scowler > on deck

His Loneliness' Save

edit: duh...forgot to include the fact that i went Workboat > Workboat, MMing along the way, and then went BW > Sailing to get Lighthouses and perhaps the GL (and maybe Colossus later)

Seem like a good set of turns, the AI will be outresearching us, but we can most likely make some nice trades.
