Now the civics are no good. we cannot use facism yet, but free speech, emancipation + free religion is what we need.

Make peace with asoka (it is the bulk of WW), but not with bismark, he must be taken down.

keep hamburg once we take it.

use a max of bombers. even if some are taken down by bis jets, it is still our best tool till MA.

You're probably right; I haven't looked at the recent save. I guess we have to figure out the best balance between beakers, hammers, happy and maintaining our borders.
If we're running caste we can run artists in border cities and scientists or merchants in more established cities.
Theatre +coliseum gives 9 happy at 60% culture.

I've got the save, and hopefully, if all goes well today, will be able to play a large chunk tonight.

It seems like we've only got a few players left, so if anyone else sees this and would like to help finish it up, they'll have a prime spot for "PH08: The People of the Deer" in a few days . . .

Played and we have lost ~ as you knew, Biz was about 5 techs on us. After he vassalized Shaka, i knew our days were numbered.

I'll report in more detail later, but it was a grand effort!!

Well, as I looked around, I took peace immediately w/Asoka.

He was our vassal, and still wouldn't give up any techs. Bah! Did they fix that in BtS?

A few turns later, I also made peace w/Biz ~ about the time he vassalized Shaka:

It was at this point that the writing on the wall was too much for even the ever-optimist that is Pholkhero ~ Biz built the Elevator.

I decided to try a quick gambit to the UN. I burned our GE on that, and took the votes:

I even tried revolting to favored civics, but it was no use. Things went from bad to worse:

As I said, not good. So i tried one last thing:

First time I ever built the Internet in 2 years!! We got all the techs that we needed at that point, and started on the last few parts.

We were about 18 turns from completion, when:

I can't help but thinking that if I a) continued the war a bit longer to further cripple Biz's production, b) built the Internet sooner, and c) had more spies in action, we *may* have had a chance to pull a "W" out of this one.

Ahh, well, on to the wrap-up show.

Great game all, and, though it fell apart towards the end after I killed my pc, was a fun ride. I wonder if you just *need* to war much more to win with the SE . . .

I still haven't got the hang of SE. We probably should have been going to war earlier but it seemed we were never in a position to dominate militarily.
