Picking up the Pieces

Boundless, you should try spoilering that.

@Omega: The thought of collateral damage hadn't occurred to me before, but I'm now very interested in it.

What? I don't remember saying anything like that.

Spoiler TFE Turn 2 Orders :

Research lasers. Bank the rest.

Take all troops and equip them with lasers. Have one gaurd Caen from any brutes. Send the other two soldiers down to Paris (Using any fuel nessercary), clear the place of aliens, and capture the city

Use new Internet acess to make contact with all major French cities. Try to convice as many cities to join as possible

Well, your diplomacy with freeman led me to believe that you were worried about collateral damage.

It would be a mechanic that would be near impossible to implement at this point, according to the thoughts I've had on the subject, so don't sweat it. The world is wrecked enough now.

Tokyo?!? Just how would you be able to help in the retaking of Tokyo?
Do you have transportation? Anyway we have a different target in mind.

If you had room on your boat we'd be able to offer our troops, but since we only have firearms maybe you're right. OTOH we have killed these squids before.

Next Saturday.

At the moment I'm in California watching over sickly grandparents (not that it matters, but it does tend to eat into my schedule). I've already done some of the update (if you sent your orders already  ) and I was planning on posting a more neutral wonder tomorrow (I figured it would be ok, the special building aspect of it doesn't seem to be generating that much interest and I wanted to be able to incorporate at least half of the Wonders as not interested in religious affiliation, and I also wanted them to be spread out enough that everyone has a shot at getting one, which means putting several in, which requires mid-turn events or multiple in an update, I opted for mid turn events). If you've already sent orders, don't worry about it, the most effective way to procure any wonder is effective diplomacy with the controlling faction, not through orders anyways.

The Rafiki Commander frowned, abandoned by his race; they have all shot off for a better conquest by now. Earth. Goddamn Earth.

But all was not lost. He saw something that he recognized.

“Dyre, I’ve seen this before.”

His science officer hustled up to his side, “Yes, there are a number of races who use these designs, I think I can activate it if we get enough power to it.”

“Pull the engine from the ship, thrusters are broken anyways, might as well use it to power this thing.”

“As you wish, sir, what do you plan to do with it?”

“This has a comm center doesn't it? I plan to get in contact with someone who will get me off this Circle forsaken rock.”

There is now a doubly powerful lab in Wiltshire, it will add 2 to any R&D that is being done every turn and possesses 8, virus proof, ET Uplinks made out of stone. The Rafiki who currently hold it care nothing for your religion if you can offer them some support and have a good reputation.

Have you met our friends the Neter? They are very friendly. Perhaps if you talked to them you could reconsider your somewhat radical stance on alien cohabitation. As it is we disagree with your goals and are unsure how an alliance would benefit us.

ET Armored Vehicles don't take fuel but can't make it past a continental plate on a turn.

500px-Plates_tect2_en.svg.png

So, one could go from Korea to Portugal in one turn, but not from the top of NZ's South Island to the bottom? :crazyeye:

Well, that map looks different than I imagined, that much is fair.

Stupid continental plates (I swear, for some reason I thought the Caucuses, for instance, represented plate collision). I'll give you a more precise range when I figure it out, but I think the main concern at the moment would be with regards to jets. Basically remove the word plates for Jets, if a Jet crosses the midatlantic ridge the Pacific Ocean, Central America, or the caucuses or goes to Australia or Africa these things would cost it an extra fuel depending on where it started. I do not believe anyone has any ET APC's at the moment, by Saturday I'll be sure to have the ET land movements hammered out in a reliable way.

EDIT: Travelling around NZ would require naval support anyways.

Let's say 6,000 miles for ET land craft in a turn without the assistance of a Teleporter or a boat.

*Slaps hands together, rubs them, and nods*

Settled. Changing it in the rules.

People who wanted to drive from Korea to Portugal in a turn... blame Omega.

We are well. We simply plan to sell off any Rafiki equipment that we have and then pay our way off this planet. Casualties were low, but without any of the support from the conglomerate we've decided that perpetuating this war is needless and also dangerous. Please check our prices in the stats post.

The war against the indigenous species may be at a standstill, but arming them strikes me as severely unwise, especially given how they seem to have developed a decidedly xenophobic outlook towards us over the course of our assault against this pitiful rock. They lack the technology and infrastructure to get us off of this planet- if any of us is going to escape, it will be through cooperation between the forces of the former conglomerate, and not through alliance with the natives.

Humans have seized a shipment of plasma rifles and are fighting us in the streets. Although their understanding of the operation of these weapons is imperfect, because of the extremely close proximity when they overload the plasma cells and the thing explodes it often kills many of my troops as well. Holding the city further will require more support. Can you provide air support Omicron Wing?

Greetings, this is Wing-Commander Tsierik-Lufor Khaz-Dio. Our forces are drastically weakened, but we are currently in the process of restoring the fighters from our downed supercarrier, and may be able to provide this requested support. Please give us a report of your current situation.

Your warnings about Epsilon will not go unheeded. They are truly bad kitties. Our fighters have been scrambled by human viruses, we cannot launch them, but we are trying to establish some control over the local situation.

The loss of the Scarifi while tragic claimed the lives of tens of thousands of the enslaving Rafiki we are sorry for your losses, and will assist you in anyway that you can.

However Fighter Squadron Epsilon had nothing to do with the attack on the Scarifi. and Furthermore no nothing whatsoever about "Operation Ball of Yarn"

Cease your deceptions, we know well what we saw you do, and we understand why you did it, in your fit of short-sighted hotheadedness. There was fully one Rafiki on board our ship, and he is dead, you'll be happy to know. Also dead are precisely seven hundred and twenty nine Tourliski, all of whom I could list off by name.

Hello, this is Wing Commander Tsierik-Lufor Khaz-Dio of Omicron Wing, we are transmitting the locations of your respective forces to each other. We are currently stranded on another continent, but we will do what we can to help organize a breakout and aid in a potential mustering between your two factions. We are in the process of establishing effective long-range transportation systems, but they are not yet close to operational.

This is a group of Tourliski hiding out in the sewers of Taldykorgan, the humans brought down our ships, the engines cut out midair and we were required to use the escape pods at an extremely dangerous altitude. Many died. We are armed and prepared to fight for this city, but our numbers may be too few to succeed.

It is truly a relief to see a group of our brothers alive on this blasted rock. We will direct our efforts towards organizing an extraction of your forces immediately, so that you may be evacuated to our temporary settlement at Karakul.

The Europeans remain quite pleasant. Save your tongue for what it's best at, which from the smell seems to be cleaning out Rafiki rectums. We are realists, these humans are no different from you or me, and while we are stuck with them the Nitros of Rouen will work with them.

Your colourful command of our language is lost on me, but we are hardly any happier with the Rafiki than you, and it is their actions that got us into this situation in the first place. How will the humans get anything off this planet, let alone large populations?
