Update 1: April 2013, 21 Weeks since the Invasion
Update Soundtrack:
Dions The Wanderer, and
Immortal Techniques Point of No Return
Corruption Threshold: 400
Thunder rolls in the skies above Cottbus. The Wanderer frowns, no grazing for the horse tonight, it will push back his schedule tomorrow. Which is fine, he supposes, he is the Wanderer, he isnt going anywhere specific, he has no timeline.
Cottbus is too small a town to have deserved the destruction that it received. Complete demolition, the few homes that still stood are deserted and so he invites the horse indoors to try to find any grains or fruits.
When the horse had satisfied itself with old sugar and the few apples they had been able to scrounge out of the town the Wanderer patted it on the head and tied it outdoors.
The horse need not witness this.
With his dearest companion safe outside the Wanderer returns to the house, sits on the couch, and removes his tinfoil helmet.
In the human networks the first thing he notices is something distinctly alien.
Artificial Intelligence is going to behave much as he will, try the same techniques as a clever human. The Wanderer knows this, but he is also faster, and he is also, now, deeply familiar with the terrain. The Rafiki virus is still trying to overload his signal with weak denial of service attacks, only testing him, seeing what he is capable of. What his defenses are.
The Wanderer has almost no defenses, he just reroutes the signal and reroutes the signal. The Rafiki continues to probe. The human has already found and eliminated the backup locations; he is setting temporary randomized passwords and write protecting huge sections of disk space.
His own signal is less simple to track, bounced everywhere. But it is not impossible and the AI is, the Wanderer admits, quite cunning. The Rafiki coding has accessed the Wanderers own database, he realizes, the virus is in his head now.
Fine, he launches his first assault on the virus, deleting random chunks of code, corrupting its core files.
The virus responds in kind, but soon it is disappointed.
What passes for code in this strange humans mind, the operating system is already totally corrupt; every file has already been scrambled. The virus can do nothing that the mind control rays hadnt already done a dozen times over.
But also, the program is clearly outmatched. This man is the Wanderer, he is everywhere and he sees all. He has foreseen the weaknesses as they were foretold in the code.
Which is the final dark realization that the virus makes before it disappears forever.
Safety for now, the Wanderer nods. Now to more important matters.

In the Deep Jungles of the Amazon River the Wanderer can see a small group of Succubi, fled as far from the grasp of the Rafiki as they could manage. In the isolation of the rainforest they sent out their troops along the river and devoted the others to setting up a small farm.
The two troops, armed with lasers, encountered three separate militias, one of whom retreated and the other two of which were destroyed by the alien troops. Going through their goods the soldiers were able to scavenge 3 units worth of firearms, and 3 Fuel. An abandoned unit of lasers was also found near the riverbank. It was determined that these militias were former members of the Brazilian Military Police. These militias had been terrorizing many of the groups in the Amazon and their defeat greatly impressed the native humans.
But when the first groups arrived at Seduction Base and were offered a freshly grown Spood [Rafiki Files Database: Spoods are a fast growing root vegetable rich in nutrients popular among carbon based land troops] they were significantly impressed with this new group and their delicious food and many have sought to join the Lilin, although they were not inclined to worship them as Gods. Heavy use of pheromones to influence humans has been effective, but has also resulted in a frenzy of breeding which could threaten productivity.
The natives who have joined the Lilin warn them that there are more MPs in the jungle and along the river, although they are unable to describe the exact location of the headquarters.

Thousands of miles away the satellites and networks dragged his attention to a gang of humans in Okinawa.
There was a great deal of damage done to Okinawa during the invasion, the military bases were all heavily targeted, and every fuel depot that has been found was destroyed. By sending out men to assist the local population the Yankee Suns gained a great deal of influence with them. Clearly they were the people with the good ideas who were trying to help rebuild and virtually the entire population of Okinawa now affiliates themselves with the Yankee Suns.
This also made their scavenging much more effective; already assisted by computers they also gained the insight of employees and neighbors. They were able to locate 8 Fuel, but 3 of them could not be recovered due to the lack of a Fuel Depot to store the excess, 2 new computers were added to the collection. In addition to a new group of militia from the Yankee Suns own numbers, a group of soldiers who survived the Rafiki war has also joined the Yankee Suns and brought with them a unit of lasers recovered from a deployment on mainland Asia. The group was also able to identify an Armed Naval Transport that survived the war moored in Kinbo bay, although this was discovered remotely and the ship has not been recovered. A Jet was recovered from a Japanese Antiaircraft training facility.
There is no Alien hardware on Okinawa except for the single imported laser. Ominous reports are coming from the video cameras that still operate in Tokyo, which seems to be infested with floating squid-like aliens with many tentacles, who appear unarmed, but are terrorizing the local schoolgirls. A camera in Yokohama seems to show a great deal of their gear, which seems to have been abandoned unguarded in favor of pursuing Tokyos schoolgirls who, at this point, just dont have a change of clothes or else they would wear something less conspicuous.

The Wanderers vision turned to South Africa, where he found a diamond corporation growing their numbers and establishing themselves as a dominant political power in the remains of that nation.
The soldiers they sent on expedition made it as far as Klerksdorp before they had to turn back. They complained a great deal about travelling on foot, but returned with 4 units of fuel to help future expeditions move further. They also have been given some samples of the Aliens Plasma weapons and 3 salvaged computers. They did not encounter any resistance on the way to Klerksdorp, but they have heard some terrible rumors about Johannesburg regarding aliens and humans fighting for the city door to door. The Human commander in Johannesburg is a man named Carlo Gagiano who claims to know a thing or two about the operation of plasma weapons, but requires support to retake Johannesburg from the alien scourge, a man in Klerksdorp insisted that the commander of the DeBeers soldiers take the number for a secure line to the Johannesburg resistance directly to the office of Cecil Rhodes along with the Plasma weapons that were provided.
Recruitment was very successful by offering jobs, security and stability, it turned out to be an opportunity without a lot of competition in the area at the moment.

The frequencies of the Wanderer found their way to Rio De Janeiro, where the Script Kiddies found their Economy growing at an extremely rapid rate. With an already burgeoning population growing their economy further investments were made to grow it by two levels.
Within Rio the Script Kiddies were extremely successful, their scouts found 6 Fuel in the Petrobras and in the Organizações Globo headquarters they found 2 units of lasers, and a functioning, but un-launched satellite. Because they lacked a Fuel Depot they were only able to recover 5 of the Fuel. The current militias cannot learn to operate the lasers effectively, so properly trained soldiers will be required to utilize them to their full extent.
Outside of Rio, in their internet communications, the Script Kiddies were less successful. Although they were unable to found a new settlement in Africa as they hoped, since few on that continent considered their reputation high enough to respect. They did make at least one good connection in Africa in an extremely similar group of computer engineers from the University of Alexandria. These students and their faculty were enthusiastic about the promise of the Script Kiddies and swore to assist them in any way possible, but were also not impressed enough by their reputation to directly affiliate themselves with the faction at this point and would be glad to reconsider if they felt like the allegiance would make them safer and more powerful.
Within South America their reputation was greatly bolstered by the growth in their economy and a large number of former street children and orphans have sought to join the group in order to make money. Although 98 civilians have joined the group this turn, another 585 remain outside the gates of Rio University demanding admission. The professors from the MBA program have repeatedly emphasized to Zi<o that adding such a large percentage of people to their group would slow down their economy due to corruption.

The Wanderer first learned of the Epsilon Squadron through his casual journeys through the human internet where their leader had posted the following
personal ad. Like many naïve individuals before him he had fled to the social networks in search of allies on this forsaken rock. According to the latest numbers the group has not been successful in reaching friendly outside groups through the human internet at this point.
One signal was received, although not on the myspace. On a frequency reserved for Circle communications the Nalese repeatedly received messages to the effect of Play now? and fish? The Nalese have no idea from where or from whom these messages are originating.
Around the crash site Simfasa and his squadron were able to recover (and heal) a wounded Nalese Soldier who gladly joined their faction. Within the ship another 2 ET Uplinks and 3 units of Lasers were also found. 2 Units of Fuel were found in an abandoned pride of silent, immobile metallic creatures near the lake.

The actions of the Nitros did not go unnoticed by the satellites and electronics watched by the Wanderer. The land troops in Mexico, still frustrated with their abandonment, lashed out violently in every direction, looking for human foodstuffs and people who knew how to prepare them.
The most successful unit, a laser equipped soldier, did manage to seize a pair of human cooks from a local airfield, where they also recovered a human jet. The resistance was minimal; many of the humans seemed confused by their aggression, claiming that many of the visitors in the region had been much friendlier.
On their way back to the base, for instance, these troops found the apparent site of a battlefield, littered with weapons but not with bodies. 3 units of Firearms and a unit of Lasers were recovered along with a marker that sanctified the site, (written in Spanish but translated using the Rafiki database) reading:
Here on the Field of St. Mary did two armies of common faiths, long separated by space but united by God Almighty, The Eye who Sees All Things. And here, when they knew that, they laid down their arms and sought the path of peace together, in brotherhood, for the sake of all living creatures. Although no further explanation of the battle site was available many Nitros suspect that a mind control ray would be able to explain this sort of thing. No Mind control ray was found at the site.
Other, more belligerent units of soldiers had less success. A group of militia murdered the unarmed soldiers before retreating, leaving the better equipped groups chasing shadows for most of the turn. By the time they returned to the base they discovered that their undefended home encampment had been raided by an organization known as the Cartel del Golfo who murdered some civilians, stole all the spam, and left the group in general disarray.
Many members of the Nitros believe that their leaders recent decisions have been caused by his overeating of, possibly spoiled, human processed meats. Because of the humiliation of recent military defeats they are considering joining a cartel.

Las Vegas looks like the aftermath of a Michael Bay movie, populated by wild drifters who are more confused than dangerous and who do not have much in the way of usable salvage. 3 Computers, 2 Firearms, 1 barrel of Fuel and 1 Laser were all that could be recovered here.
Most of the drifters were willing to pledge allegiance to the Resistance. They told the soldiers and leaders of the Resistance that while the aliens had destroyed Las Vegas from above in order to eliminate the shiny lights, they had not landed ground forces there. The real ground troops are mostly stranded near Indian Springs, and though these aliens have made attempts to invade Las Vegas since the Rafiki stopped sending them orders, the rogue aliens never found anything worth holding onto and also found the inhabitants to be extremely disagreeable and so had returned to Indian Springs permanently.
A Large group of refugees has also arrived from the West, seeking refuge from the warfare that has gripped much of Southern California since the invasion began. Now, following the invasion, there are allegedly three separate alien groups battling there against each other, the Los Angeles Municipal Empire and the South Compton Coalition. These refugees rode in with a Human tank.

The Wanderer shakes his head, bemused, when he realizes that it really is a Bonaparte.
In Caen, a city left standing by the horrific war, it was a descendant of the Emperor who made the first moves to reunite France. His troops scoured the local countryside for fuel and survivors. 4 Fuel was recovered from the nearby areas, and many people made homeless by this vile war have sought refuge in Caen and nearby, while still remaining under the protection of the Third Empire, which they all fervently defend as the true heir to the French tradition. A stockpile of 3 units of Lasers were found to the north, but it is unclear where the alien soldiers who should have wielded them have gone.
The most incredible find was at the abandoned Kochka Technology Headquarters in the city, where a functional, if experimental, communications satellite was found along with 5 new computers.
Some refugees claim that what remains of Rouen is held by huge birds who wield a single Death Ray Cannon. They remark that this is a shame, and the Wanderer can confirm, it is a sad state of affairs. Few people are open to discussing the fate of Paris.

The remaining command structure of S.H.E.I.L.D. devoted this turn to rebuilding some of their manpower, purchasing a soldier and a militia. Although many were lost in the invasion, the surviving population of the northeast sees SHEILD as a powerful organization with a strong heritage and a tradition of fair dealings. Many joined, to the extent that a refugee problem soon emerged.
287 people were allowed into the Headquarters and the surviving pre-war staff has been working day and night to make sure that they are trained to handle all the equipment properly and to contribute in a positive way to SHIELD. Another 600 now sit outside their holdings and are demanding entry, though the existing staff would not be able to handle the load of integrating all of these new outsiders.
The large shantytowns that surround the base have begun to attract looters and rogue militias who raid the place and are known to murder people and steal their goods before moving on.
Refugees have brought with them 5 new units of Firearms, 2 units of Lasers, and a team of Horses.

The city of Doboj sent out its troops to find Fuel and Survivors, although they were confused by the nature of what they got.
They located 6 Fuel in the nearby countryside, but were only able to collect 5 due to the absence of a Fuel Depot. The soldiers also recovered 3 Lasers and 2 ET Uplinks from the surrounding areas, although their source is mysterious. The ET Uplink were impossible to use or get beyond the screens they were stuck on, which were tourist guides off of the human internet about the city of Venice which had apparently locked up the stations.
Many of the refugees insisted that, emboldened by the chaos in the aftermath of the invasion, Serbian nationalists vowed to claim the territory once known as Српско Царство, they have surrounded Sarajevo and intend to break the city to begin that process.

The shattered Hull of the Scafiri proved a fertile salvage area for the Tourliski of Omnicron Wing, undoubtedly the most well known of all the Alien factions on Earth. They were able to recover another Tourliski soldier from the wreckage, along with a Plasma Rifle, 3 ET Uplinks, and 2 Lasers.
Many humans from the nearby area, a place nearly untouched by the preceding war, have gathered around the Scafiri and have sought to speak and make arrangements with their new neighbors, but so far the communications are shaky and tensions are high.
The population grew following the rescue and salvage operation, as 48 new Tourliski support staff were found in the wreckage with the soldier. Many claim that the humans outside might be intelligent enough to contribute to the faction, but for the most part these ideas are derided.
The communications have reunited the Tourliski with many former members of the horde, including a faction of Nitros in Rouen, a group of Puumons who continue to fight for the streets of Johannesburg who have requested immediate reinforcements of heavy armaments and death rays to help them hold the city, a group of Succubi still holding out in Indian Springs, Nevada looking for orders from anyone with any authority, and a rogue squadron of Nalese in Kabul, as well as a whole host of player controlled factions. The Gamma Squadron of Kabul have a high level of respect for the Tourliski and claim that they had nothing to do with shooting down the Scafiri. There are definitely more groups out there, but with only one ET Uplink the search didnt operate at maximum efficiency.
More unsettling is the chatter on the religious frequencies, where strange, high pitched voices discuss their play and talk endlessly about fish. At one point though, in the middle of the chatter, the uplink operator swears up and down that he heard one of the squeaky voices say No, you fool! I said a 48.3 degree approach not 45.6! Now all the fish is gone!

At the foot of Kilimanjaro an African dynasty attempted to reassert itself. Although plagued by corruption the people of the Lemon Banana Shrimp were able to salvage a number of useful items out of the local area, including 3 Fuel, 2 Firearms, and 1 Laser.
Their leadership remains inert, waiting for the proper time to strike.
