PIE's Ancient Mediterranean on Deity

Lymond's Turnset 4

Turnset Pics Album

Ok...I'm stopping here with Chariots in. We need to make a decision on tech and possibly trade Chariots to Hat for Enslavement. Then we can tech Water storage.

whew! I'm exhausted. Took a lot of pics, but will take time to put together.

I'll attached save for you to view.

Halstatt is just cranking crap out right now.

I have not switched to Mercs yet as I figured we'd wait until Halstatt needs the happy (Merc Post built in 1 turn). However, it also has the benefit of boosting unit production which boosts OF.

I built a Druid. There is a reason for that besides just healing. I want to send him into Lydia as he can do that and see what that go going on down there. Crouton is in WHEOORN by the way.

2 Huts just NW of Halstat. New Explorer to head that way. Still have hut and Bear up in NE.

ha..popped stupid free tech SE of Lydia with now dead Explorer. (wooden defenses...woopdee)

I hand off to you, but you may want to check every thing

We can attack Lydia now should we choose

I literally fed that 3rd citizen in Georgovia by killing animals - at least 60F. The fact that it is pop 3 right now is amazing and timed perfectly to a finish cottage

Picture needed!

ha...i think we are totally not on the same page with this one. It's your avatar, it makes my mind bleed

Stonehenge:

Ooh! That is good. But maybe we should try to get some fail gold out of it before. Since we got complete control of SH.

I'm agreeing on trading Chariots for Enslavement. Afterwards, Water Storage for sure. Then, I'm torn between Glass Work and Defenses. I'm leaning towards Defenses for its huge set of wonders. Minos Labyrinth is mighty strong. Also, there are good egyptian wonders we might get via stealing egyptian religion in Lydian lands.

Another important info about tax revolts. For each additional happy you have in storage in a city, you can push the slider by 5%. That means in a ideal world with 10 happies, you could augment the tax slider up to 100%.

ah! fail gold...that is what you meant..duh

interesting about happiness to tax rate. ..i've never fully understood how that works.

omg...i took so many pics..ugh...some of them worthless now since I was updating some as we went along...can't deal with it now as I'm too exhausted.

just note we have units all over the place

Once we get horses online and a stable we can build horses to help rush wonders too or even rush else where for gold. We could basically convert horses to gold.

It's like reality. Confuse your people with entertainments abusively and they going to swallow everything without fighting back.

Lymond. Glad to see you so invested. Me too I'm pretty exhausted. Tomorrow, it may be not possible to me to play my turnset. So it's going to be a good breather for you. It's incredible the investment in this succession game we made until now.

It's fun. I enjoy this mod more playing as an SG I think. No prob on tomorrow. Breather will be good and I got stuff to do anyway. I'll try checking in still if you pop up.

Goodnite.
I'll pop only morning and late the evenight. Can't bring a laptop on my job. Too risky someone gets away with it.

I feel a certain lurkism from some guy with a rocket avatar....
Still trying to figure the game out a bit before commenting too much :p
Then, I'm torn between Glass Work and Defenses. I'm leaning towards Defenses for its huge set of wonders. Minos Labyrinth is mighty strong.
Interestingly Defenses also allows us to claim resources outside our culture using forts. We can't research glass so glasswork seems to be a nogo....

Ok, played a quick turnset before going to work. Sadly, most wonders are lost except Oracle and SH. Also Marib Dam. SH is ensured, but for the Oracle, we are in a close race with Egypt. Lymond, see in the south, there's your druid looking for the completion of egypt lead source. Once the workers finish, attempt to relocalize the Epypt cities (I put marks) and look at the espionage production. It is indicator of a current production progress.

Lead city, once having completed its mission, I think you should attract some animal to raze it. It's a weight for now, especially if we're going warring against the lydians. Croesus got the Minos Labyrinth (like in all the games gosh because he's the strongest techer; he's the richest remember) allowing +2 XP for each unit. And furthermore, strong nubian archers...from his egyptian friend. This game is certainly not easy.

Got plenty of bad luck this turnset. Quite enraging.

Anyways, I drop a save and a link for downloading the screenies (9 MB).

I have to go. Bye.

Oh also, I think the Oracle should target the Pillage tech (the one allowing Paysant Militia civic IIRC). Reasons:

1) Help towards Colonization, one critical tech for mass expansion far away
2) Paysant Militia; it converts food into hammers while building a soldier. This not only the capital is productive, but also all side cities. PIE realized that civic is so strong he pushes it away from early game. Paysant militia is the key to Lydia conquest.

Hmmmm...gotta like be active even at work. I'll see if I can reach the Oracle by myself later. Let's take the save and modify my laptop PAE XML/python needed.

I added a link to my pics in post #362 above. Imgur edit tools are terrible so I gave up on it. Need to reinstall Snag-It.

Good stuff, Tachy. Glad we met some more AIs and good to see that Lydia is actually at war with someone else. I though they were targetting us.

ha...Barb Merchants are hilarious. Free Money!

Tachy - Lead city is already connected to the Empire via Lydia. No need for all those roads. get the workers to the lead.

Let's forget lead and oracle. I played two turns and got another bad surprise. This game is certainly hard. Two leaders are running away while others are basically doing nothing. Take my save once you feel ready.

True. That wasn't well-thought of me, making such a long road.

BTW, I got another nice surprise, coastal connectivity is not available to us until a late tech named colonization. If we were the Greeks, that would be earlier with ship building, but we can't tech. It's something taken by force. So we have to make a long road along the small ocean. Great woohoo \^o^/.
I hope this isn't gonna be just for SH but also Marib Dam.

Finally at home. 'twas a stupid idea to bring over the job my laptop. Inefficiency per excellency.
OK, I rethought the whole thing and indeed, losing all wonders to the AI's isn't big deal. Seriously, was I thinking like a noble player (although all those supplementary happy faces from wonders would have helped). We have a heterogenous set of AI's. Two strong ones and a bunch of weak ones. The solution is rather easy: kill the weaklings to grab their lands. While we grow and get stronger and stronger economy and military, then we'll roll over those two (Lydia and Egypt). Ofc, the one that makes me worried is Lydia. The minoan Labyrinth is a top-notched wonder allowing easy double promos with GG+wonder+celtic temple. Now, we'll have to face stronger lydians and on top of it, terrible nubian archers. Those things are horrendous: 5:strength: archers whose strength double in cities. Making invasions even more tortuous with a deity AI spamming units like no tomorrow.

Also, it's just sad Egypt had marble+lead. That led to 2 turns Oracle. That foreign GEngineer was certainly egyptian because the only GE points wonder I see is the Mids and Hatshe did build it. So, that explains the ultra fast Oracle. It's sad that she gets even more of a tech edge.

Tachy - Lead city is already connected to the Empire via Lydia. No need for all those roads. get the workers to the lead.

To get a chance for Oracle, I would need to reload quite a bunch of turns. But that would kill the fun too. So we will have to deal with ultra strong Hatshe. A chance the egyptian believers block (Massi-thingy, Croesus and Hatshe are all against Brennus). Not only I am glad he'll get the stake shoved up to his @ss as deserved to steal away 400 :gold: from us, but also assures us for a moment SH. Of course, Massi is a potential danger to steal away our precious SH. He has stone in his natal lands. Egypt doesn't have stone. Same for Lydia. Good grief. We might get the strongest of all wonders (Marib Dam) and the really nice SH.

I thought we could only build Stonehenge.

I'll play later today. I have to do Dad stuff
